What sickens me about fundamentalist Christianity is the fact that they believe it's murder to allow a terminally ill patient with no hope of recovery to die with dignity, when the right thing to do is to end their pain and suffering by allowing them to die. Also, I support human surgical sterilization for people who shouldn't be having children either because they are mentally handicapped or because they are simply going to be abusive and irresponsible and not raise them properly.

Yes, drugs are harmful. Still, what really scares me are the drugs gangs that service the illegal drug market. That is the choice either make drugs legal or have all the death and misery caused by the drug gangs.

Our prohibition of alcohol made the Italian mafia very strong. Taking away the selling of alcohol hurt them a great deal. Yes, they were still active in protection, prostitution, gambling, and then later on the now "illegal drugs". Make something legal and that takes away a revenue stream of organized crime, which in turn makes them weaker and allows the police to focus just on the other revenue streams.

The same is true of any gang, like the Latin drugs gangs.

One more thing to consider, is that OUR American War on Drugs is destroying Mexico. This in turn creates more of an incentive for Mexicans to want to come to America illegally, which in turn makes our illegal aliens problem even worse.

I just read that the common world IQ is 102 or something close to that, which explains a lot. People have always been seeking God, and I think most will continue to do so, no matter what sensible information you come up with. Your arguments are excellent, as ususal, though. Good luck.

I've always said that humans are capable of experiencing profound feelings which one might call "spirituality." I consider myself an atheist (although you might just as easily call me a freethinker or humanist), and when I experience a Mahler symphony or a beautiful sunset, this is what one might call spiritual. Not that there's anything supernatural about it, but the experience is there and one doesn't need a god to have it.

I believe the most important polarisation is not between atheism and religion, but between enlightenment and unenlightenment. And I believe the latter can crudely be measured. For example, I would rather have an enlightened religious person as a neighbour than an unenlightened atheist.

This appears to be in a different dimension from your project. I may have to revise my thoughts as I watch. But ... I'm not dogmatic!

That's one hell of a charge you've given yourself. I have been thinking about such a task for myself lately as well. I can't see, right now anyway, how you can convince any fundamentalist of anything other then what they already believe. I don't know how you're going to get away from psychology and more importantly biology when talking about the core realities, both of which will be discarded by the theists. I don't know about calming my raging atheist soul but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
