  • i am 15 years old and i have been working with gumpaste 1 and a half years. I have 4 books full of flower tutorials and your method is the absolute best. Thanks for posting theese videos and i hope you keep making more videos.

  • @Ipadlover1997 Thanks so much, I wish you the best!!!

  • THank you!:) I went to your website...it's really beautiful...this is just a hobby for me...and I love every step of your tutorials. Thanks !!!:)

  • @Taynz123456 Thanks!

  • hi edna! thanks for this, i dont really know whats the difference between gumpaste and fondant? thank u

  • @MIssTouver Fondant is used to cover a cake and gumpaste is used for delicate details.

  • Edna, your tutorials are amazing! I am having trouble with the ball tool and rolling the edges. I either have the gumpaste too dry (it cracks) or it is to wet. It moves on the foam when I am trying to role the edges. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

  • @ixellexiful If you are using a plastic ball tool, that might be one of your biggest problems.

  • @tonedna1 I am using a plastic ball tool! No wonder it isn't working for me.....thank you so much for pointing that out. I guess I know what I will be buying tomorrow!

  • You seem like such a lovely person, Edna! You remind me of Californians! Thanks so much for sharing - I love your techniques and I've incorporated heaps of your tips into my work. You are much appreciated! Elise

  • @starbuckgeisha Thanks!

  • I think my problem is that I'm too impatient when making roses! I've tried to make them a few different times and I can't get them the way I want them. Thanks for your videos! Seeing that there's several of them, now I realize that it takes time and patience. Its not something you can rush! You're a great instructor.

  • @rubyslippersparkle22 Your roses wont be perfect the first few time...They are like babies..they will grow on you. Patience.. :)

  • Hi Edna! You are such a wonderful Instructor. I love all your creations and the way ou do your videos. . . it's like personally attending a class. I was wondering, do you have an instructional video about azaleas (gumpaste) and forget-me-nots? Thanks a lot for uploading all these videos! More power to you!

  • @bmabs1298 Thanks at the moment. At the moment I dont have those. I am still filming but sometimes takes time. All I have is here and the DVD's, all of them are in my website.

  • ummm are using real glue i am a little young and am planning to go to a culinary school so i have to start practicing these things and i have the gumpaste but i dont quiet understand the glue part

  • @cassii203 It's gum glue, made out of tylose and water or dissolving gumpaste in warm water.

  • U R TOTALLY AWSOME!!!!!!

  • You are so inspiring, Edna =]

I know how much time working in a bakery can consume, and I really appreciate you taking the time to show everyone how everything's done! -And I'm sure everyone else does, too!

  • Thanks for letting me know, how thick gum paste has to be. I'm learning it right now, at Michael's Wilton class and on my own as well. This was very helpful.

    Edna :)

  • i love your videos, they have sowed me so much more than all of the other videos on any web site. i just started cake decorating a few weeks ago. so far i've just used buttercream (i use your recipe) but i think i'm going to step up to fondant next. wish me luck. and keep up the great videos.

    jessica

  • Im so glad you enjoy them!...have fun!

    Edna :)

  • Donde puedo conseguir la base blanca que usas para estirar el gumpaste ? como se llama?

  • se llama Cel board Global sugar art los tiene.

    Edna :)

  • U are very talented!

  • What do you mean by glue? Is it edible glue or actual glue???

  • You can dissolve some gumpaste in water to make edible glue..Is not actual glue!..lol

    Edna :)

  • Edna, thanks for the tip about rolling over. I will try that!

  • Edna, Can you do this with Rolled Buttercream? I like the consistancy and taste of it much better.

    Kristyn

  • I never try doing it with rolled buttercream. But I know the look will never be the same.

    Edna :)

  • The detail is wonderful Edna! Thank you:)

    Katie

  • Hello Edna, I appreciate you sharing all your knowledge with anyone who is interested in watching them and learning from them. You are awesome. Question, do you find working with fondant easier than working with buttercream? I take wilton classes and will be starting wtih course 3 next week. Never fooled with fondant before, which do you find easier. I am a slow learner. Please keep the videos coming so many people benefit from them.

  • Just keep practicing, is like writing, it takes time to learn but is worth it..

    Edna :)

  • Hello Edna. Thank you SOOOO much for your videos. I am new to cake decorating, and am enjoying learning all about it from you guys on YouTube since I can't afford to take the classes. My question for you is, what is the "glue" you use? Is it water like I've seen others use, or something else?

  • You can use tylose diluted in water, or you can use gumpaste diluited in water or even egg whites.

    Edna :)

  • Edna once again thanks for this great and helpful video. I'm taking the Wilton Classes #3 making fondant roses, do you have a video making the rose? Thanks a lot!

  • No...but I got plans on doing one..I just need to find some free time between weddings!

    Edna :)

  • Edna you are so generous in taking the time to share your knowledge and talents with us. You are truly blessed and your cakes are awesome. Please continue to share with us novice bakers and cake decorators. I just joined cake central today and viewed your beautiful cake and also went to your website and view your rose tutorial. I lean so much in just about 20 minutes time. You are so beautiful to share and your beauty shows with your beautiful cakes. Again thank you so much for sharing!

  • Thanks..Nothing makes me happier than people learning...:)

    Edna

  • Hello Tonedna, I just joined cake central today and found your beautiful rose wedding cake, it is truly beautiful. I went to your website for the first time and found your tutorials andyou are so generous and patient with sharing your ideas and showing exact details of how to make gumpaste flowers and more. You truly are a professional and your williness to share your knowledge is spectaular. Thank you so much for all your help and I know I can start to use gumpaste flowers. Thank you much!

  • LOL Okay, I'll try gloves but I don't even HAVE fingernails and I seem to always get a finger in a stacked cake. Drives me nuts. I think you just have the touch.

  • Is about practice, believe it or not!..I just had a student that finally after 3 months everything clicked. Dont let frustrations get in the way of what you want to learn..

    Edna :)

  • What a generous, informative video! Thank you! I just have one question. With all those beautiful, perfect cakes I have seen that you do, HOW do you not get fingernail dents in them? :-) :-) :-)

  • Well..for one, I wear gloves..but honestly..I have no idea...lol

  • Yes, I am talking about the Wilton Course 3 roses. Thanks, for the info. I will try the gumpaste for my flowers soon.

  • Edna, can you use this technique for fondant roses?

  • My guess is you are talking about the Wilton Course 3 ones. Is not that it can't be done in fondant, but is not the same. You would need to add tylose to the fondant.Gumpaste is a lot more elstic than fondant. So I would suggest that if you are going to spend all this time doing flower, just best to do them in gumpaste..

    Edna :)

  • Edna thats so awesome how that already is a rose bud ! You make everything so easy for all of us to understand and want to try it ! Ok Im off to part 3 ! Thanks Buddy!!

  • Edna, your videos are amazingly helpful. Thank you so much!
