ok first of all find the Mac OS 7.1 Install Disk and upgrade it to 7.1, then make a new blank disk and download Mac OS 7.5 all 19 parts on to it. next inset the Disk Running System 7.1 and the Disk with the System 7.5.3 install disk in it and when it shows up, double click on the install 7.5.3.smi and find the installer on the disk. hope this helps
I got Mini vMac running on my iBook, it was great. I got System 7.5.3 and System 6 (!) running great. I actually managed to acquire System 1.1/Finder 1.1 and run it for a short time before launching the disk image kernel panicked the OS. No serious damage done, but I FUBARd the image after that, and too fearful to try it again.
The fact that you can take that on a flashdrive too is just too cool.
No matter what disk image you use, no matter what the emulated machine does, it would be a major bug of Mini vMac to crash. And no matter what Mini vMac does, no matter how badly it crashed, it would be a major bug of OS X to kernel panic. So for a bad disk image to cause a kernel panic would require major bugs at two levels, which seems unlikely, though I admit not impossible.
Accidents happen. It's similar for a Windows BSOD. But there are less "steps" to a BSOD as you indicated with UNIX. All it takes for a BSOD is for a noughty driver to pass into protected memory... then it's bye bye!
That said, Windows is a lot better these days and there are many steps before that prior to the BSOD. I hardly see the BSOD anymore.
Ive found with any emulator is that my os x kernel panics if i have the disk image mounted in os x AND that emulator, there's some conflict and the whole comp crashes!

What when OS X kernel panicked? No it just... kernel panicked!
meisinscotland 4 years ago
oh OS X did it sorry i thought mini vmac did it
dosman434 4 years ago
Nah, my first Mac OS X kernel panic LOL.
meisinscotland 4 years ago
lol mine was on YouTube. i had all the apps on my dock running at the dsame time until i got that kernal panic alert
dosman434 4 years ago
I think that's what could have done it for me. It's a relatively low spec machine, and I also think that disk image was bad. Accidents happen!
