The hymn 'Lord as we go we sing Alleluia' with words by Geoffrey Squire. SSC and musical arrangement by Mark James BA. is sung in some churches in England to this tune . The last verse, raised to a higher key, ends with the words 'Alleluia! Amen.
In England, the name 'Madrid' is disputed as that name is used for a very different tune in the old Methodist Hymn Book.
Thank you for your organ posts. I had no idea how this song went, and I have to sing it on Sunday at mass. Now I have it down perfect hank you for your posts!
@organpipe8 Oh its not that I didn't like, it was just a little strange because f minor is so far away from G major. And I know you didn't begin playing the tune in f minor, and it is also a little strange that f minor would be a pivot chord to its relative major key!
Ever since reading Mark Twain's short story Capt Stormfield's Visit to Heaven, this song comes to mind as the music of heavenly herald....haha Oh yes and I know Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) did not think highly of christianity but the story has a great moral message.
Our choir sang this hymn today at communion. I love this one! I know I had heard it before, probably from my days in the Catholic church, but it had been ages. You said it was in the 1940 hymnal. I only wish they'd have included it in the 1982.
Awesome!! My church uses the 1940 Hymnal (and the 1928 BCP), so we sing Spanish Chant almost every time we do the Litany. Glorious, majestic playing! Praise the LORD.
thanks for playing the wonderful hymn.I have only known it for a few years and love the message in it.I thank God for your ministry of playing the hymns.
One of those powerful hymns that you always feel good singing on a Sunday morning! May we all sing together on "Heaven's blissful shore...Alleluia! Amen!!!"
Props for doing the transposition manually, rather than using some sort of electronic auto-transposer. This is how real musicians do it! Great as always, Mr. Lance.
Very Nice, you are great, thanks for these wonderful Hymns, I love all of them and the sound is so clear compared to all the rest on YouTube. God Bless you
Your welcome and I have seen and heard a few other video's that are nice, some are very scratchy. I am working on mine to try to bring a good quality sound for my Subscribers listening enjoyment ! Blessings

From G major immediately to f minor was certainly a little weird! But besides that, very nicely played, I love listening to it. :)

Sorry you didn't like it, however I RAISED it to A Flat Major, not F Minor.

No problem but like I mention in the video description and in the other message, I RAISED it to A Flat from G Major, not F Minor.

Flawlessly performed, but lacking the choir so needed to truly fulfill the beauty of the hymn which calls us to sing.

Thanks, I agree a choir would be nice but I would probably not be wrong by saying you were singing along ♫ †
God Bless you.
