  • James Brown was an Asshole!

  • fuck u

  • This is still the best church scene ever in a movie! And yes, this is an extended version as the original version was shorter.

JESUS H. TAP-DANCING CHRIST! I HAVE SEEN THE LIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!

    FUCKIN HILARIOUS!!!

  • James Brown!! what a legend! RIP James!

  • James FUCKING Brown. Need I say more?

  • Was James Brown a parody of Reverend Wright?

  • Nooooooooooooooooooo!

  • "Jesus H. Tap-dancing Christ! I've seen the Light!!"

    We miss you, Belushi!

  • Joy = a twenty foot backflip :P

  • Amen motherfuckers! Loved this!

  • you could hate god and still love this church... i would want to go to church if this was really church

  • except for the trampoline jumps bebe , this is church down south ,,,,,,

  • This is worship..sing praise to our LORD ALMIGHTY!

  • "And God Bless the United States of America."

  • if church was like this i might actually beleive in god haha, the blues brothers is awesome. my favorite movie of all time =)

  • best movie

  • james brown was brilliant

  • THE BAND!

  • And to top it off, it was the famous James Cleveland's Southern California Community Choir (and band) used for this scene. I gotta give it to director/producers...they really did their homework!

  • i love this movie :D

  • RIPJames.

  • If Sunday service was like this then I would go to church.

  • My wife is one of the dancers in the front about one minute into the film. Brown dress with flowers. One of the first jobs that all the black women got the job and didn't have to settle for one or two positions.Met all of them. Great people.

    Love the film.

  • great! one of my favorite movies ;p

  • This church kicks some serious ass.

  • Man, I know I would go to that sort of church...

  • I grew up in the South Chicago area that this church is in. on 91st and Baltimore. In the movie clip when Jake and Elwood come in from outside you can see Our Lady of Guadalupe Church across the street. I named my daughter after this church. This church is call Pilgrim Baptist. There is also another Pilgrim Baptist in Chicago that is the Adler and Sullivan landmark on 33rd and Michigan that suffered a terrible fire in 2005.

  • I absolutely love this movie, and this scene is one of the reasons why. It is a bit exaggerated, but it shows the high octane volume of African-American churches, especially the Apostolic ones.

I also like the cene with Aretha Franklin.

HAVE YOU SEEN THE LIGHT???!! Love it!

  • CENE??? is that ebonics or what?

  • No you idiot. it was meant to be scene.

  • Apostolic churches are like this! YAY!

    You will leave changed!

  • My all time fav scene from The Blues Brothers. And that's saying alot, because there's several cool scenes in this flick. This clip seems to have a bit more to it in terms of the dance sequences, than what I see on cable. I could be wrong though.

  • They probably cut it down for time on cable.

  • maybe so.

  • If my church was like this I would go more often. May God praise all people regardless of faith.

  • If church was like this .. more ppl would go:) Try going to a Black Southern Baptist Church.. and GO HAVE A GOOD TIME!!!

  • I swear...when I saw this..milk came out of my nose..after breast feeding ;D

  • I actually work in the community where this scene was shot. The church pretty much looks the same.

  • "YES,YES jesus H God dancing christ i have seen the light" hahahahahahaahah

  • Its actually "...Jesus H. Tap-Dancing Christ..." but it doesnt really matter its funny none-the-less.

  • "Do you see the light?"

  • favorite scene in the movie....if church were like this, i would go all the time...

  • Hey BarbaraFaithCo, that isn't Jim it's John. I taught @ Wheaton Central High School, Wheaton Il. where John was a all-state shortstop on the baseball team. He was young and agile, and he showed it in the movie. I consider this movie a " cult " classic, it makes me smile to this day. Elwood

  • buddy of mine did not belive me, most dont..freeze it at 2:00 and the black women you see, is Chaka Khan before she was Chaka Khan! haha!

  • This movie was made in 1981.

Chaka Khan officially changed her name from Yvette Stevens to the African "Chaka" in the late 60s. And she had fame with the band Rufus in the 70s.

That is Chaka Khan, but it's not *before* she was famous.

  • I agree. I thought I was the only person who noticed her in the choir. Most people think I am crazy when i saw Chaka was in this movie

  • Great video. The whole scene in it's entirety would be nice. All of it. Begiining with James Brown's sermon all the way to the whole dance choreography with nothing cut out.

  • love that movie!!!!!

  • This is what I call CHURCH. It is beautifully choreographed and the music is superb. James Brown is soul brother number one. And it's a fun scene, too, with cool Jim Belushi.

  • Oh man!, there's so much energy+force+a kind of devotion. Thanks guys, once I see the ligth and I got what means the beam !

  • lol i love Elwood's dance . i would go to church if mys was like that . . i love this movie . they bought some of the greatest musician in it . it looked like they had a fun time making this move . blues brothers 200 suck so much . Beacuse jhon was not there .

  • I remember seeing this movie in the summer of 1980 when I was 9. This was my favorite part of the movie always, seeing the men leap in the air and swirling like 15-20 feet in the air. Still makes me laugh today.

  • Man if there was a church like this in my area, I be like going every day.

  • God this rules so much.

  • God this movie has so many numbers that just make me want to get up and dance to them!

Were people dancing in the theatres when this came out? I wasn't around for it but when I saw it for the first time, on DVD, I could imagine people just getting up and dancing in the aisles.

  • if churches were like that in the uk i would actually go LOL

  • Amen!

  • AMEN friends, ahmen!!!!!!!!

  • CUT THAT RUG ELWOOD! LOL

  • i love this movie!! i wish we still had churches that were this excited about Jesus

  • I know. Imagine how many non-churchgoers would get interested in going to church.

BTW, whenever I listen to this, I sometimes start dancing in my chair, haha!

  • In italian, he says "LABBBANDA"

    AHUAHUHAUAHUAHUAH

    Fantastic!

  • I worked at a radio station in the 1980's right after this movie came out. We had a BLACK GOSPEL hour each night for one hour, and we slipped this into the lineup... James Brown singing...from the Blues Brothers, and nobody was the wiser.

  • IVEEEEE SEEEEEEEN THE LIGHT what light?

  • Dan Akroyd should teach everybody how to dance! lol

  • The band.

  • Damn god i see the light,

i see this movie and its the best musik movie

    i´ve ever seen!

  • I'm saved. Love it!

  • looks like the democratic national convention

  • the band man, the BAND!!!

  • James Brown, Chaka Khan, John Belushi and Dan Akroyd= CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • JESUS H. TAP DACING CHRIST! I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!!!

    Love that quote! XD

  • I have been to churches like this! Gospel is the root of soul music. It came out of the slavery days when they had to work in the fields and on Sunday they could let loose and express themselves, it was a release. Dan Ackroyd is quite and expert in blues music, this movie was his brainchild.

  • You've been to churches like this! You are one blessed dude! Where are they, let me know and I'll get my plane ticket booked!!!!!!!!!

  • this the way a baptist church suppose to do elwood got the spirit he's a clown can dance dont a baptsit church fun like this james was dancing that man turn that note n the ar wow elwood did that flip hahahahah james did the footwork yea rip mr jaaaaaaames brown

  • This is the most cookin'est scene I think I've ever caught. Every time I watch it, I wanna do backflips to the point where I could just explode.

    Just un-real. Un-frigging-REAL!

    Thanks for posting! :D

  • You can TELL that this is a Baptist CHURCH!! :) Love this movie!!

  • does anyone notice that it starts all over again at the end?
