  • I love the part starting at 4:34

  • This interpretation is pretty intense. Technicality here is not at its best, but his musicality surpasses it magnanimously. Absolutely beautiful.

  • I love the part going from 0:00 to 10:38

  • That humble smile !

  • wooooooooW

  • perfect

  • OMG!!! Downbow staccato @@

  • oh my god !

  • OMG he's amazing. his expression is unique but tasteful, and thoughtful. he's a cut above all the rest. I can see why he was youngest winner ever of the Sibelius competition and won this queen elisabeth competion.

  • Love it

Glad I have a chance to see Sergei soon in Melbourne

  • His sister is also very brilliant :)

  • who cares if he plays wrong notes! it's not about technic. although, he's also technical very VERY very good... :) he's brilliant. <3

  • I love the part from 00:23 to 00:27. That was the best

  • bravoooooooooo .briliant

  • I dont know what happened in the beginning...but the rest was fantastic, having his own music!

  • Bravissimo...I'm proud of you as a Armenian, thanks for sharing

  • Wonderful playing! I can't believe people are complaining about wrong note....hey, we'll all human! If you can play the notes all correctly and play as musically as he is playing here, I congratulate you. Rather than comment about wrong notes, or faces he's making, listen to what he is saying musically! Sergey is a wonderful violinist!! I wish I could play like this. He reminds me of two of my favorite violinists, Leonid Kogan and Michael Rabin!

  • this is probably the best interpretation of waxman carmen i have ever heard!!!

  • BRAVO!!!!!!

  • A performance like this gives me hope for violin competitions. he placed high and even though it was not technically perfect all the time, that is not what matter to the judges, it was the feeling and emotions that he was able to convey that made this such a high caliber performance. so much musical feeling and ideas and the beauty of the sound take you away from the technical stuff.

  • i play violin. but no understand because he do this face of retarded to play this??

  • @lulunco dude what face? He make far less faces than so many violinists on the market, you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • @lulunco you may want to, ehh, get lost?

  • one of the best interpretation of this piece i´ve ever heard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he's adorable!

  • That first run was just a little sloppy.

  • definitely... in fact most of it was a little sloppy.

  • Jascha Heifetz's Carmen is technically better, and more fluent, but Sergey has his own style, he plays beautifully, full of emotion, although sometimes he hurries too much.

I love the part going from 2:31 to 4:00, he put his violin in tears; a very good interpretation.

No doubt of his shiny future.

  • @Mashdotz Dtushpakhdapar abakah choonee. Hurriyah cheh.

  • I hate the accompanist. Horrible.

  • No kidding! Right from the beginning there are wrong notes!

  • lmfao, i guess even they're humans!

  • i think it was his sister lol.

  • Well, then...there you go. They do have the same playing style. lol

  • that would be his sister... haha

  • @MyMemories19 you think you can to a better job? LOL

  • There are two versions of Carmen Fantasy for violin: Sarasate's and Waxman's. Both are amazing

  • @IonizedViolinist Don't forget the Hubay!

  • OMG that was 'amazing' redefined!!

  • Hey dURRACEFFF !!!!!!!!!!!! I guess you are a nurse or sportsman, what do you F*ckin know about music??? And what Ilian Garnet you are talkin' about??? How can you compare devine Sergey Khachatryan with that good practiced student??? Sergey is a genial musician and no one is able to be compared with such huge name!!!!!!!! And beside that, the last year QEC was a SHIT!!!!! All three winners were anything but musicians, just sport-violinists!!!

  • the best of youtube

  • i love the song, lool, reminds of sassy intaian women bragging and complaining 2 their rich husbands lol

  • If you want to listen real amazing performans of this fantasy, listen to Ilian Garnet in youtube, because it's really good than this performans.

  • Pay attention to his facial expression at 8:01.

  • one of the best violonist ever.....if not best

  • 9:58 how is he doing that? brilliant!

  • nice begining...lol

  • Last Saturday we saw him do the Shostakovich violin concerto with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Kurt Masur. His talent was impressive. This work requires real endurance from the soloist, and he achieved this by total immersion in the piece. The audience gave him the biggest applause I have seen in the last five years or so.

  • nice. very nice

  • this guy is suuuch an amazing, young, talented musician. His sister as well!

And of course, he's such a cutie. :D

  • heifetz, kogan and me....

  • loool and me

  • and i would like to have a guarneri but not everything in this life is possible my friend

  • oui oui :)

  • i ve seen this video like 10000000 times im absolutly in love with ittttt

  • i could have taken a couple showers with all the vibrato he used in this piece.

  • SHIT OPENNING

  • ja ne is klar!

  • i saw him !! he played sibelius OHHHHHH MY GOD it was awesomeeeeeeeee

and then he played another solo cuz the crowd was so nice to him

    :DDD

  • was it in barcelona, I've just seen him playing sybelius last monday the 22nd

  • no sorry it wasnt! but i think he's on tour so he's playing sibelius in many places

he played it so perfectly didnt he? and his carmen is the best ive heard

  • in the concert I couldn't believe it, it was the first time that I saw a great violinist and I couldn't belive what i was hearing and seeing, and the sound... what a sound, so pure.

  • i totally agree.nd i guess u saw him with the goteborg symphniker right? such and awesome orchestra! and the end was so freakin funny , wasnt it? :)

  • yes, with that mambo, I couldnt believe when i saw the wind section start dancing XD

  • I saw him yesterday in Barcelona playing Sibelius and it was amazing, incredibly awesome. He is great!

  • I saw him yesterday too and couldn't believe my eyes (and ears), so beautiful you didn't want to miss a single note:)

  • Khachatryan's fantastic.

  • Superb! This guy is violinist of great talent.

  • Bravissimoooooooooooooo!

  • There is something wrong in the info; it's Waxman and not Sarasate..

but I guess everyone has noticed that already.

  • great talent but this particular performance was sloppy and out of tuen. Perhaps he just didnt have his A game. I have heard him when he does - and it is special.

  • This is very good . Bravo Sergey

  • romarmmcrtci we know that he is armenian lol

  • Bravo!!!

  • issa.. whatever the shit is an idiot

  • JAAAAAAAAN AXPER JAN !!!!!

  • Thats his Guadagnini by the way.

  • Oh. Apologies.

  • Bravo... It's a wonderful piece and you play it with your heart ... amazing

I love this music very much !!!

You've merited the first price at the Queen Elisabeth !

  • This is a very difficult piece (congratulations), but in my opinion Sarasate's fantasy is more fantastic. And the best interpretation of it I've ever seen was from Gil Shaham and direction of Claudio Abbado.

  • this was at the queen elisabeth

  • soo very excellent!!very very beautiful tone!

  • too qick!!!

  • I was in the concerthall, he was amazing, a great moment of music and violin!

  • agree, he really had something more

  • Magnificent tone ! Wonder who he was

    in his previous life?......definitely

    a virtuoso violinist

Gracias!!

  • gracias a ti!
