I currently use 3ds max. But i cant really tell the difference between the two, like the pro's/cons. IF some1 could tell me what they are that would be great!
@ion7 I use Syntheyes. I couldn't afford to pay $10,000.00 for Boujou. Also, couldn'tI see myself forking over that kind of money when Syntheyes works well for only $599.00. A real bargain!
Do you have any tutorials that you recomend? I was planning to use boujou for a project but I already have matchmover, if someone can tell me which one is better I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
i would use a program called boujou. it tracks the motion of the live action footage and then places a camera inside 3ds max. the camera moves based those track points. after that you can put objects anywhere you want as long as you use the camera to render it with.
@Cobac Well, I cant really say. I have used both programs, but not enough to make that kind of judgement. Both seem to do a good job of tracking. If I was able to use boujor enough, I might would think it is better.
You can download free trails of both, though, and make your own judgement.
@surferadi96 I didn't do that part. It was a clip from another video. I assume whoever did it used 3d cars. I know the bears are 3d, but it is possible that they used real cars, and dropped something on it, and then replaced the object with the 3d bears.
@frankstrayer If Boujou is an option for you, use that, but it's $10,000. And just to just to let you know, what you just explained is what most tracking program does. How else would you use it? And this also includes voodoo, a free tracking program that works great
@stoneycartoon Hey , I'm answering late, :D, but if you are a student ( or if you have some cousin or something that is student ) Autodesk has students and educators option under Community, and there you register, and you can download 30 programs from autodesk for free LEGALY !
I Think that's the best page , that I ever found :D !!!
Really cool, I've tried to track myseft from 2 different perspectives for Motion Capture purpouses, but I can't get a decent result, cuz when I solve for the camera I get some very bad results, and trackers get red, the manual trackers I do for each arm, head, chest and legs get wrong and I don't get the human figure. The videos are from webcams, Do I need a really high res video?, Thanks!
This cameramove is a nodal pan (The camera doesn't move in XYZ, only rotation) so there is no parallax. At least not what I can see. So for this shot you could also use simple 2D tracking I think.
Having Matchmover 2011 also and Syntheyes, I prefer Syntheyes. I find the tracking is just a little more solid than MM2011. Then again I'm no virtuoso on either program, but my limited knowledge of both has me leaning more towards Syntheyes. Just as easy (If not easier) to use as well!
You've never seen the polar bear footage? it's from some video about global warming that's up on the internet. A few months ago they were talking about it a lot on the news. I just took it and put my character into it.
@escapeephil Well, I can use it a lot better than Maya live that I had in version 8.5. I couldn't really get that to work, I'd get it close, but it still would not look right.
But yeah, I still have to work on the lighting and stuff. Wish I could say I add the bears, but I'm not that good yet, LOL.
@unpicked1 Maya Live is not nice to track in. Definately would try PF Track if I where you..or stick with the new match move as it looks like you are getting good results.
I would just add a surface shader with occlusion under his feet.
@escapeephil Thanks, man. I just watched a tutorial on digitaltutors about render layers a few days ago. I didn't know you could render different elements in different passes like that.
I haven't tried it yet. I usually have to watch the tutorials a few times before I can figure out how to do it.
I downloaded a free trail of Boujou the other day, I wanted to get it, but I couldn't find it for any less than $10,000, LOL.
NICE

Syntheyes is what people are using now mate, much cheaper than Boujou and just as good if not better.
