Even though an original artist deserves props, if the sampler takes enough different bits and pieces and fuses them into something completely different from the original work, he's just as good as the original artist, sometimes better. Check out Amon Tobin's "At the End of the Day", or "Always", or "Slowly" or "Esther's".... you get the idea.

@FateUnderground I don't really understand why you're jumping on his dick. The backpacker draw is the realness that hiphop is, without dressing it up. Real emotion and meaning in the rhymes over a real melacholy beat. Why is it pussy for him to write about how he feels? Theres no show, he's simply expressing. @c0dead I dunno I think the whole backpacker scene is just people who find regular Hip Hop too intimidating and/or can't relate to it enough, so they talk about their regular problems and say that's what real Hip Hop is. Violence and crime are a huge part of Hip Hop culture, whether you like it or not. Ive got nothing against people keeping it real, but with this track I just felt the guy ruined it with his bullshit.

@FateUnderground I'm confused bro.How is violence and crime a huge part of real Hip Hop.The biggest crime in Hip Hop back in the day was 'getting up' with Krylon and Rust-Oleum. What you're calling real Hip Hop didn't come around until the late, late 80s/early 90s. Saying what you're saying is just pure and utter disrespect to the elder statesmen of Hip Hop like Run DMC, Kurtis Blow, Doug E. Fresh, Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, LL Cool J... Need I go on. And 'intimidating,' that's just stupid.

@TheDJWarchild I have my opinion and you have yours, for me the golden era of Hip Hop was the mid 90s, where the lyricism was on point and the beats had developed from the 80s, yet still had an analogue sound to them. I listen to artists like Infamous era Mobb Deep and ONYX. To me alot of the old old school artists hadnt really developed rapping to the levels of the 90s, and alot of the beats were simplistic, and I stand by what I said about people finding it intimidating.

This is great, I love the fact that this is both underground, and pretty. The message is great, and quite prevalent in this culture, especially in these turbulent times. This is a great song to turn to, and I wish the artist a lot of luck in life. BTW I'm only 14, but that shouldn't be a problem. This song also sounds like Arrested Development's Tennessee.

@detroitMC313 I have no idea what you're arguement is about so I won't butt-in for too long, sorry. But sometimes a sampler deserves a lot of credit. Even though an original artist deserves props, if the sampler takes enough different bits and pieces and fuses them into something completely different from the original work, he's just as good as the original artist, sometimes better. Check out Amon Tobin's "At the End of the Day", or "Always", or "Slowly" or "Esther's".... you get the idea.

9th wonder is over-rated man.... First of all, he got nothing on Pete Rock, or Preme.... The beat is dope, it's "Good", but it's not a master piece. It's all the oringal song that deserves the real credit. Listen to the sample, all he did waz cut the sample putt it back n forth sort of, and add a kick, hat, and snare. Not hard??? I'm well aware that Hip-Hop is a lot of sampiing,, but where is the Orininality???

@detroitMC313 i feel you. most people don't realize how blatantly ripped off a lot of hip hop beats are. they are under the impression that the samples used are original compositions by the producers themselves, which is just not the case.
i concur with your shout outs to PR and Premo. there's no denying that sampling is a prevalent practice in hip hop production, but looping a sample and lacing the boom bap over top doesn't denote creativity. those dudes keep it fresh.
