My denon mixer has 3 amber lights before red. when you say tapping in to the amber. Is it the first amber light after green or the second amber light will still be alright?
I used this video to better understand what I have been doing wrong for so long. I learned with the wrong equipment and carried a lot of bad habuts with me. Now i see what i am doing wrong. I actually kept mine in the red and didn't understand why I was distorting, I'll explain I had my gain up to far and not my level up. Now I am using my dual 15 now with out any clipping lol just by not using my gain... Now I am ready to blow my mind
hey, i want some speakers that sound great and have good bass that will play loud that i can hook up to a 3.5mm jack to listen to good quality sound and id like to use them for small parties with a few friends but id like to keep the price around 200 pound and i do not have any other equipment apart from a laptop and an ipod, thanks
I know this is an old video but I have a question. My speakers have a knob for the Lows and another one for Highs...I wold like to know what will be a good configuration for the music to sound good. You have already answered for the lows (keep it in the 12oclock position), but what about the highs?
please help i just hooked up powered behringer to pioneer djm 400 and then to numark usb audio interface then laptop mixing with numark mixmiester my frigging sound coming out of the speakers fades in and out big time i've troubled shoot it and cant find the problem its really annoying can anybody help ?????? Thank you!!!!
How do you connect Numark Cd-Mix-2 Dual CD Player/Mixer to two powered speakers? I will be buying the EV ELX115P 15” Live X Two-way Powered Loudspeaker. Thank you Sam
hi, I am new here, interested in it! if I have 4 way speaker 8 omh, sub, bass and mid are got down, anfortunately, what should i buy instead to change them ( 2 by 4 omh or 2 by 8 omh with same power and sub?) please, throw me an idea!
hi i have a set of powerd 250s with a red clip light on the rear of the speaker .i never turn the volume up to the max mabey 2 or 3 below the max , bass and treb in the 12 oclock just like you show and my mixer never goes in the red , but the clip light keeps flashing when i play certain songs or near the end of the night when i have the volume up but never in the red , would it be over heating or are they knackerd i have them just over a year .they still sound ok any help j cheers
Impresive effort to explain the basics of sound mixing!brilliant! Just a hint: you say "control the vol of your mix with gain fader". Your mixer sounds best if you pre-amplify it to 0db with your gain (best S/N ratio)-typically done during cueing. Then limit it with the channel fader or master fader.Like you say-many DJs want the channel fader to be max-so use the master only (as it says..."master"). And: do consider what you will do with the EQ during your mix...you might need some headroom
ok thank you! I know they don't work in a blackout! :D i'm trying to buy a console for our group.... so I was wondering If we need a ups or something like that....
the "12o'clock" position is something like zero... Am I right? Nice video and tnx! just a question... does all speaker have a protection of...hmm.... of power? like a blackout?????? tnx. and what's the different between monitors and speakers.... :D
1. When he says speakers have 'protection' it means it has things that will tell you if it is overheating, etc. They dont have the ability to power during a black out (lol). They will probably have LEDs that flash red, or something like that.
2. Speakers and monitors are the same thing. The speaker he has in the video is more of a monitor, because it is small. Usually people use small speakers as monitors and use big speakers for the crowd.
I only have a Master and REC output on the back of my mixer. they ae both RCA output types. My question is - "How do I connect my TWO active speakers to the ONE master output? use RCA splitters?
You might be feeding too much volume into the amp with the volume on the speakers turned down too much, try turning the amp in the speakers higher, that way it will go louder without the crackling noises you are hearing. This is my idea on what the problem is, the real problem could be totally different. Just a suggestion.
Now when u set ur mixer gain levels (i do live sound so i am really careful about this) i set my gain levels for -3db on the meter whith the EQs flat so then when u use ur EQ onthe channel u dont go into the red.
Working with these active speakers isn't very difficult. The amp is inside, so there are few wires. AS sound good, but if you have the sub, when you'll definitely hear better sound.
would pc speakers work coz my ones have bass treble and mid knobs on them and they are powered by a plug so would they work when i get my 1st turntables btw i might be getting them on my 13th birthday
Many thanks...i have an option of buying a set of 15in peavey powered ...could i use them as mid -high ..just by fiddling with the Bass and Treble on the speakers?? ie. turning the bass nearly all the way down? i would then have subs on an external amp? would appreciate some help with this many thanks yet yet again jason
i have some crap skytec speakers i was wondering if i could put some more wattege drivers to get more sound power i have 15 inch 300watts at the moment if you could advise would be of much help and i have had so much help off your tutoriols

Hmm that would be how I would setup active speaker system... however I would control the volume on master volume on mixer instead of gains or vol fader knowing that the max for master is at about 0 point. So the master volume would be actually the master volume :P
nice.

MakaShino 2 years ago
PS: DJs use monitors when the big speakers are away from them, and they need an extra speaker to help them with the mixing.
Sometimes when speakers are away from the DJ, it causes echo and confusion. The monitor will help the DJ mix on track.
Hope this helps!
