@TheAllthatjazzgal - Austerity is a term used when cuts are made, usually by Government, along with increased taxes, etc, to help repay debt/boost economy. So in this case, it's just after WW2 and cuts (such as rations) are still in place in the country, but are being reduced - hence 'goodbye austerity britain' :)) hope that makes sense! Sad that I know this....
