During the exchange at 3:30 why did black take with the bishop before the pawn? Couldn't black have avoided the double pawn on the e4 square and been left standing with its light square bishop instead?
Nice work putting the pressure on D2. He tried to compensate but like you pointed out he's very tied down. Nd7 continued to maintain the tension, and developed that last piece. White's got a tough position to play. =)
I have let the mouse get away in many games like this in the past. There's a tendency to want to play forcing moves when you have your opponent in a bind. I hope this game shows that an unhurried approach is sometimes the right medicine to get you the full point. Zugswang scenarios can occur in the middlegame although obviously they are more common in pawn endings, etc. Thanks for watching, jrobi.
I made a video on this game because I thought it was instructive. I don't subscribe to the theory that we only learn from studying our losses. A lot of beginning players lack patience when trying to convert a positional advantage. I felt this game demonstrated the importance of being able to slowly improve the position until the right conditions are there to break through. The game itself was a one sided affair and not a great contest. I am sorry that you didn't enjoy it.

i'd rather see a game where you lose and comment on mistakes than watching some guy giving his throat to you.
