Remember droppergangers. Jack can make a ianto droperganger and swap them when ianto goes into the building before he dies. So ianto lives and the dropperganger dies. That or he could be saved
The nanogenes seems the most plausible. Plus in the episode the Doctor says that because those nanogenes have never seen a human they assume they're all meant to be like the epty child. What if Jack was healed by some that had never seen a human, they think everyone should be immortal, he uses them on Ianto and POOF. Immortal Ianto and immortal Jack, together for all eternity...ok I'm going to write that down in fanfic form...

the timewatch idea, me and my best mate had that, as in ianto is a timelord, like the doctors son. then i had the idea that yeah the time war wiped out the doctor's family, ianto's timeline was rewritten so he was born human. then the doctor gives the watch to ianto and brings him back as a timelord. mmmm, great idea for a video that. okay, i'm doing that lol x

Jack can't mess with time without deadly consequences (not even the Doctor can), the stop watch was a normal watch, the vortex is far too dangerous and the Doctor won't allow it, and the Ressurection Gaunlet were both destroyed-- they also alow Death into our universe, so that can't happen, either.

Brilliant ideas. And quite honestly, about half of them would definitely work. RTD can be a genius, but my goodness, the man just can't wrap his head around the fact that everybody loves Ianto. And the only reason he hasn't killed off Gwen yet is because that's his favorite character. *rolls eyes*

Another way Ianto can come back to life - He is the son of the Master. His father hated him and broke his arm once (we find out this info in COE). What if Ianto's mother had an affair and Ianto was the result (somewhat like Jenny- able to regenerate). Just a thought and it would fix the major mistake RTD made when killing off another character. Come on how many shows has anyone seen where you kill off 3/4 of the original crew over 2 seasons and RTD had to leave alive the annoying Gwen.
Okay, either RTD is an idiot or he thinks the fans are. Because writing something as fantastic as nanogenes into canon, having a TIME TRAVELLING ALIEN friend teach Jack a life-altering lesson about them, and then presume we're all going to believe he just up and forgot about them?! I had no problem using somebody else's show to make my vid, so would be kinda hypocritical for me to object to others using my vid for whatever they want. But do try to be nice to the entire Torchwood crew (no throwing the DVDs at RTD as weapons), and no selling your promos for profit either.

Actually, if you watch the Dr Who ep that I think is called "The Doctor's Daughter," then we have a canon example for both the fact that Ianto didn't instantly regenerate, and also he still gets to be played by GDL.
As for the paradox thing, only one Ianto is dead, the other is still alive and being held prisoner by UNIT to prevent him from touching himself-- wait, that didn't come out right. To prevent there being a paradox caused by two Ianto's. Now that the other is dead, problem solved.

Okay, preemptive comment on the "but Ianto died when he was still human, so he's still dead" reply that I'm bound to get. I'm gonna say, no, he didn't. The watch was damaged in the explosion, and he's been a Time Lord again since that point, just didn't realize it.
I like 1 and 3 the best :P, but I don't care if RTD chose to bring Ianto back through unexplained magic or prayer, just bring him back! As Billie said, he could easily find a way if he wanted to.

It's like they killed off Ianto just to spite us, because they already have the perfect solution to bringing him back. I mean, you'd expect Jack would remember something like that when he's lost both Ianto AND his grandson, wouldn't you? *sigh*
One Idea is that when they erase his files on TW computer they come across a video like Tosh's and Ianto says 'I'm not dead yet, I have combined my DNA with Jack's' and they turn around and see his body bag moving...just an idea
Another thought is, Ianto is the son of The Master--- just like The Doctor has a daughter (Jenny). I was so waiting for yellow/gold light to come from Ianto's lips in the hanger scene with all the bodies around.
Oh, that is a good idea! And it would make a good reason for the Master to go through all the trouble of shipping Jack's team off to the Himalayas rather than simply killing them.
I've often wondered, with as much of a homicidal maniac that the Master is, why he didn't just kill off Jack's team. You actually came up with a good idea on why the Master would spare Jack's team.

u noticed how much ianto looks like dr number 10. ok, we saw him like tht before jack saw the doctor as DT. but i just noticed. and in an episode of dr who the doctor says "its like when u fancy sum1 n they dont even no u exist". martha looks sad, so jack says "you too huh". maybe jack keeps ianto in the suit n sneakers with sideburns n spikey hair for tht reason, as well as him looking gd anyway

Jack can't mess with time without deadly consequences (not even the Doctor can), the stop watch was a normal watch, the vortex is far too dangerous and the Doctor won't allow it, and the Ressurection Gaunlet were both destroyed-- they also alow Death into our universe, so that can't happen, either.
The only possible thing is Nano Genes.

Brilliant ideas. And quite honestly, about half of them would definitely work. RTD can be a genius, but my goodness, the man just can't wrap his head around the fact that everybody loves Ianto. And the only reason he hasn't killed off Gwen yet is because that's his favorite character. *rolls eyes*
But anyway, great theories, and I hope some get put to work in the new season. Especially the nanogenes one; bloody brilliant!

Another way Ianto can come back to life - He is the son of the Master. His father hated him and broke his arm once (we find out this info in COE). What if Ianto's mother had an affair and Ianto was the result (somewhat like Jenny- able to regenerate). Just a thought and it would fix the major mistake RTD made when killing off another character. Come on how many shows has anyone seen where you kill off 3/4 of the original crew over 2 seasons and RTD had to leave alive the annoying Gwen.

But if you're gonna get all upset over a little universe destruction, then fine, scratch using a paradox machine AGAIN. Use the one that ALREADY HAPPENED in canon. The Master was aware of Torchwood, so who says they weren't aware of him, did a bit of sneaking onboard the Valiant, and were actually there during the big time reverse. Oh look, a second team! Actually, if you watch the Dr Who ep that I think is called "The Doctor's Daughter," then we have a canon example for both the fact that Ianto didn't instantly regenerate, and also he still gets to be played by GDL.
As for the paradox thing, only one Ianto is dead, the other is still alive and being held prisoner by UNIT to prevent him from touching himself-- wait, that didn't come out right. To prevent there being a paradox caused by two Ianto's. Now that the other is dead, problem solved.

One Idea is that when they erase his files on TW computer they come across a video like Tosh's and Ianto says 'I'm not dead yet, I have combined my DNA with Jack's' and they turn around and see his body bag moving...just an idea

Oh, that is a good idea! And it would make a good reason for the Master to go through all the trouble of shipping Jack's team off to the Himalayas rather than simply killing them.
I've often wondered, with as much of a homicidal maniac that the Master is, why he didn't just kill off Jack's team. You actually came up with a good idea on why the Master would spare Jack's team.
OTOH, if anyone upset Ianto, imagine what the Master would do!
