I am not really a Kiss fan so, I won't take sides on the bickering BUT, I will say that Tommy Thayer is one of the nicest guys you could ever have the privelege of meeting. i knew him and went to some private parties in the Portland area when he was just starting with Black and Blue. I don't think it is his nature to take any of this too seriously. Not saying he doesn't take music serious because he loves to play but all the other stuff. He is pretty grounded!

Sure, it was Ace's own decision to leave KISS but in that time he finally sobered off and made a comeback. KISS will continue to sell out concerts, but the bottom line is they will never achieve the status they once had with Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. All due respect to Eric and Tommy, I love them both, but those are the facts.

True, Sean Connery isn't James Bond anymore, but at least the other guys since don't try to be Sean Connery. Maybe that's what's wrong. Kiss has become "Beatlemania". Not Kiss, but a reasonable facimile.
Ever since Ace and Peter left the band in 1980/82 people have been unhappy with their replacements. Of course no one is good enogh, they're the original members! Fans in Europe are hungry for Kiss and they are grateful they got to see at least 2 original members perform and Tommy and Eric did a great job. It's amazing the band is still around and Kiss is still Kiss, if it's good enogh for us it should be good enogh for fans in the US.

When Vinnie, Mark, Bruce, Eric Carr and Eric Singer joined the band they played the old songs how they wanted to, updated the guitar solos, wore new costumes etc. They didn't dress up like the previous members, play the songs exactly the way they were recorded, wear the same makeup etc. Try to keep up.
No matter how much Gene pays him, and no matter how long he says "Yes SIR, Mr. Simmons," Tommy will always be a tribute player in this band until they let him be himself.
Tommy was lucky to get the spot. Too bad all of his originality got pitched right out the window. He could have been the best lead replacement since Bruce; as it is, he's "that guy in the Ace costume", and that strikes me as really sad, for both him and the band.
I wish him well, but he can't be a better Ace than Ace.

it was a fantastic show and EVERYBODY who was there said it was awesome, even the fans of ace and peter (like me).
It's like everywhere: Some people weren't there and claiming that it was bullshit. That's the only embarrassing thing of the whole tour
