@SoulShatterer yes, it is the 500d, but don't get the kit lens, it's just not that great. instead buy the body only and test out different lenses. For example, the standard 18mm-50mm lens at full zoom gives you what you can see with your own eys, not a 'zoom' per se, just bringing it in to normal view. put your hands out stretched in front of you and make frame using them, look through it, and thats what you get at full zoom. Just not worth it

@GeeArtistOfficial If your using premiere it actually has a lot of presets that are useful for export but it really depends on where the final product is going youtube, vimeo, blu-ray disc, etc.

@dannievasco You just need to make sure you color grade correctly with anything you do. And make sure your set at 24fps, 1920x1080 helps a bit..Try to look at photography tutorials all dslr video cameras are first and foremost a CAMERA. You can advance a lot by just researching photo techniques.

@dopechefs Go buy a camera with a large sensor and a large aperture prime. Your average video camera sensor is a fraction of the size of DSLR sensors, that's why everything in the background is in focus when you shoot on a traditional video camera. Larger sensor = less depth of field (aka shallow depth of field) = blurry background. It's not really something you can successfully emulate in post.

@jameswalt1 Damn I don't remember my 50 1.8 being that sharp! For $100 you can't beat it. Although the bokeh from my 50L is just too beautiful to go back. If you ever upgrade to the 1.4, I would recommend checking out the Zeiss 50mm f/1.4, focus is smooth as butter and optics are beautiful.

@andrademeza Ok, windows movie maker isn't a very good video editor. I would recommend Adobe Premire elements or Sony Vegas movie studio 9. they are very good video editors which arn't free, BUT, are considerabley cheap. I use sony vegas movie studio 9. Sony vegas and adobe premire can both do colour correction like magic bullet, but that doesn't mean it isnt as good as magic bullet. To be honest, I don't use it because i dont need it. I get very good results in sony vegas & adobe premire. :D

@themashypotato cool, so i was looking at the movie studio 11 platinum production suite its only 120 something bucks thats really cheap, and theres that effects suite but it looks like that one doesnt have sound forge like production suite...i think thats the one ill get the production suite, cus i really want the sound/audio tools. The color grading/correction and audio tools are most important to me, much more than any effects, besides i probably wouldnt know how to use them or make them lol

@andrademeza not to butt in here, but I highly recommend you download Sony Vegas Pro and get serial key so you can have the full version for free. It is well worth it, and you dont need to spend the money. Plus it is a $600 program. Just look up "how to get sony vegas pro 11" on youtube. :)

@andrademeza Umm, it's not really hard, but it has a lot of options. It is a really good program and since there are so many you can do in it, you might get lost at times. But there are plenty of video tutorials on youtube to help you. Also if you are planning on editing for a while and getting experienced at it, you might as well use a more professional program.
