The lanterns emenate. Glow as it were? They are also moving in the breeze? From the b up it is like starting from the limestone pillar base. rolled seven chords It says pillar? 3:11 Then we scaling them to the heights at 5:54 and all the visions are swirling together in pool of colour... 2:18 b f# fifths white jade? I smell spice and ambrosia.
am wondering what the thoughts are around the title of this work? how are you using the term chinoiserie in this work? vy interested in a reply. erika
@erikatan I was exploring textures through sound. The titles of each movement of this work are : Paper Lanterns, White Jade and Limestone Pillars. With Paper Lanterns for example, I tried to create a texture/sound/sonority almost paper thing. With "Limestone PIllars" something glistening, cold.
I collectively called the set by the French term Chinoiserie because of the "Chinese-esque" influence of harmonies (I used the Chinese scale) not so much anything to do with porcelain, but impressionism.
until 0:31 I am at the edge of my seat ... and then it just unfolds like a rainbow ... a cload passes, the sun sinks into the purple clouds ... the stars begin to appear
Even when dissonant 6:23 or progressive, your music is like star-gazing. One never knows what to expect, yet there will be beauty. Very natural. Very steady.
It feels Degas in pallette. The stroke of it.

@ASAngelo This set comes from a time when I was obsessed with writing music almost not there.......a dream state perhaps. Degas, yes.
