@NaturesFairy Thank You. I knew you would enjoy that. We will probably see some high winds & alot of rain from Hurricane Irene. It should weaken by the time it gets up this way, but who knows. Your son should be okay with the type of fortress he's staying in. Let's hope the storm stays out at sea more.
Great video but could this bear be a danger to pets or children? You are lucky not to have met it out there but maybe it was and you didn't see.....??? Thanks for sharing!
@goldeneyesofafrica You bring up a good point. This is 11:30 at night. No pets live here. Everyone elses pets or kids (not many around here) are in their houses. Luckily, these bears don't show up everyday. We've been getting a few encounters over the summer. Yes, this bear could watch me in the dark somewhere without me knowing. I'm always thinking of that while bringing in the feeders. Thanks for viewing.
@mastermind Unlike Grizzlies, if you ever get one that's aggressive to you, you have to fight back! Don't ever run and don't ever play dead. Fight them with everything you have. It's easy for an adult to remember, but harder for a child. I am glad there are not too many kids there. They also seem to get so used to scavenging....They have a very good memory! Keep us posted! Be careful though!
@goldeneyesofafrica I should clarify "aggressive". If you run into one on your path and it's not attacking you but seems to feel uncomfortable in your presence. Try to back off without triggering any predator response in it. If it charges and attacks you, then that's when you fight back but I am no bear expert all. Don't take my word for it. There are a lot of books out there or Rangers out there that have better advice. Just be careful when you are outside day or night.
I think this bear is beginning to like your garden XD

@DeadlyTeaParty I think this could be the one that hit my area a month ago. It seems to remember that tree pretty well. Thanks for checking this out.
