Don't know why everyone calling Scorpio a villain. He's just a guy that has some unusual hobbies and a fantastic sense of fashion to boot. Whenever I find myself getting bored or depressed, all I have to do is think of this scene and I feel great again.
roll roll roll your boat, this shit is mad funny everytime i watch this!!! the little boy said i want to go home cause this dude is MAD CRAZY SON! andy was a retard for real in this movie yo! lol
Hard to believe that Scorpio was only 29 years old when he slapped that fat mamas boy on that bus and now he's 68 years old and teaching drama classes in Oxnard CA,
@daydodontdaydoh Indeed! Andrew Robinson's a great actor, you have to admit! And Garak (together with Quark and The Doctor/EMH) one of the best Trek characters of all!
"You wanna go home to your mother?" "We're going to the ice cream factory!" CRACK right across the face lol I love this movie. I love how in the next few frames Callahan is on the tracks and goes badass on the bus lol.
Andy Robinson really does an amazing job of showing the weakness, fear and hate that make Scorpio take such pleasure from the control over others that killing seems to give him.
I always busted a gut laughing at him singing the kids' songs on the bus. It was just hilarious they way he pretended to be harmless to divert the kids' attention!
Harry didn't kill Scorpio and the San Francisco DA dropped all charges (the reasons of which you may know).
To the Scorpio killer, this means he can play the system and get what he wants from it, even if it involves him getting hurt in the process. As Harry said, regarding Scorpio's tendency towards murder, "he likes it."
Scorpio is a chilling example of a psychopath; he enjoys what he does and he's perfectly cognizant of what he's doing.
A top scene....though somewhat disturbing obviously.
Andy Robinson...what a great part he played in this movie...criminally underrated and surely a massive inspiration to all other movie pyschos, serial killers and bad guys.
The 'archetypal' pyscho...and just about my fav along with Buffalo Bill/J Gumb (Ted Levine).
although it doesnt show it on this vid, the green volkswagen beetle that pulls out in front of the bus is surely a reference to kim novak in vertigo.. the same model/colour of car can also be seen several times during the car chase in the film bullitt.. and as all 3 films are set in san francisco, surely some sort of reference or tribute to hitchcock and vertigo..you see it on the video,Dirty Harry - Bus Hijack , couldnt post a comment there so had to do it here. row row Row your boat.. kkk

Sickening. People here commend on the character abusing and threatening innocent children. I don't have kids yet, don't know if I ever will, but finding satisfaction and amusement in the abuse of innocent kids... This planet really needs a Biblical flood.
Why did you look it up then? Just because we find unintentional humor in Robinson's manic performance does not mean we enjoy abusing kids in real life.
Because freedom of speech is a wonderful thing. Yes, I also know AR hated shooting the scene, and I listen to Black Metal, play rather, er, violent action games, but limits are limits. Granted, I may have been a little heavy-handed in my original comment, but you guys must have known such comments might follow.
I concur with the other guys here, this is not about that one part where the character slaps one of those kids in the face or about him taunting them, it is about his manic performance in doing so, and thus this was posted up. The whole scene is very interesting solely for Andy Robinson's performance, and this is not real child abuse or making light of child abuse. At least that's not what I made of it, some might for some far out reason find that one short part funny, but I digress.
More priceless is a few mins later, that same kid through a just-ate-stale-prunes face: "I want my mother!"
And the hermaphrodite bus driver: "It's not right to treat children that way," and his incredulous, "What? I don't need your advice just drive the goddam bus!" BWAHAHAHA!!!
Agreed. The sequels would have been better if they had half as good as a villain that this movie has. Scorpio is contemptible. He's cold, calculating, but also weak and cowardly. His defeat at the end makes the movie that much sweeter.
I couldn't care less what happened to some of the antagonists the other movies, especially in The Enforcer. I mean, there was no character development of the villain. Just some random guy with a knife; so when harry blew him up, I was just thinking "okay"
Scorpio was very complex. Most of the time he is cold, calculating and ruthless but whenever someone actually confronts him he turns into a gibbering maniac. Andy Robinson's performance was probably some of the most compelling and amaing acting I've ever seen.
It's a shame they made so many sequels because it makes people forget how special and powerful this film was.
Yea, robinson's portayal as a madman really makes this movie work. This schoolobus scene shocked the you know what out of me, still does every time I see it. Eastwood plays his most convincing role as Dirt Harry in this one as well. The sequels are entertaing at best.
"SING or I'LL KILL ALL YOUR MOTHERS". This is really good. That fat boy should have been given a couple of beuts more. Wish we had more men like SCORPIO in the classrooms aswell.
Haha I need to see this movie, that character is freakin psycho and actor seems to be awesome. On other video people were making comparison between him and (Heath's) joker, but I kinds see more mcdowwel's (spelling sorry I forget his name) alex from a clockwork orange...very cool :)
Funny you should say that. When i first saw Heath Ledger in Batman the very first character i thought of as inspiration was Andy Robinson from Dirty Harry. I am not sure if many people make the connection but there is something there with that.
even though i could have made that connection on my own if i thought about it for awhile, the joker-scorpio comparison is definitely not my original/unique cognitive abilities...
Its funny when Batman came out and i saw the joker for the first time in the commercials. I kept asking myself... "who does this guy remind me of?" I could not quite place it until i suddenly thought of Andy Robinson in Dirty Harry. I dont think it is an exact rip off but i do think there is something there. I would love to know if Ledger was influenced by Robinson. Who is, IMO one of the screens best villains. Truly sick.
yeah, just watching youtube videos it's safe to say that any villain or character with psychopathic tendencies, whatever, in stuff made after dirty harry was made is at least in part influenced by robinson's role....i still havent seen dirty harry from start to finish. need to get on that...
Not seen Dirty Harry?? I am a real film aficionado and today they dont make films anymore. This was made when they still made films. Yes the wardrobe is dated and the time is dated but the nuts and bots of the film making still holds up. The scene in the Mayors office has a real sense of immediacy that is missing in todays films. Scorpio is such a loon. I mean he is totally insane. However I must admit I found him funny too in this scene since he doesn't have any patience or reasoning skills with the kids, and just loses it when the fat kid wants to go home to his mother.
"Sing! Sing! What's the matter with you??"
That evil smile he has one his face when he regains sight from he roof of the two homosexuals in the park is funny too.
Probably the best villain ever, though Tim Roth was almost as good in Rob Roy. Ledger's Joker? He seemed coherent and reasonable compared to this lunatic.
It was on ongoing joke between a buddy of mine and I to mimick the Scorpio from this scene. If screaming kids annoyed us at work, we would look at each other and say "row, row, row your boat...."
This character has to be one of the most memorable bad guys of all time, to me anyway. When people talk about Jack Nickolson as joker in Batman, you know people have a warped sence of taste when they try to compare it to this. Guy deserved an acamdemy award but I think this movie at the time offended alot of liberals in hollywood.
