  • Crowded House: phenomenal songs, great musicians, bad videos. Also, all hail the loose and groovy drumming of Jim Keltner!!!

  • Love this song big time, and this video is so out there... and a bit cheesy! LOL don't get me wrong, i love the boys and their music but this video is soooooo 80s cheese! i DO love them air-playing their instruments in the snow, and knocking each other down on skis. they are SO awesome! thanks for this, tabstarkin!!

  • Yep - a great MELBOURNE band... formed by a Kiwi who left a Kiwi band, and hooked up with two Australian players, in Australia, to form a band based in Australia.

Beatles thing quite comprehensive: voice, Vox amp when they were unfashionable; blonde Epiphone Casino in background (I think - could just be a 335, can't quite see shape of headstock clearly enough).

  • He's has a bit of John Lennon style voice here it sounds like to me.

  • @weirdguy75 i agree, this sounds very much like Lennon. the most Beatle-esque song of theirs is "Not The Girl You Think You Are". SOOOO Lennon/McCarthy it's not even funny! There is also Neil's live performance (it's on youtube) of "Nowhere Man" which is absolutely amazing, imo.

  • just a stroke of genius. simple. beautiful. fun.

  • Respond to this video... your wrong neil finn is a kiwi

  • 2:16, love it :)

  • LAME-Of course, great song=profit!

  • Great Auzzie band!!!

  • @EGTycoon I'm from Canada and they're a great Kiwi band.

  • @EGTycoon Kiwi Band you mean. Grrr!!

  • @BillBordelon dude... Crowded House was formed in 1985 in Melbourne, Australia, whose lead singer just so happened to be a New Zealand singer-songwriter Neil Finn while the other two original members were Australian. (There were only 3 originally.)

Simple as that. The facts are clear for all to google themselves. CH is an Aussie band. Sorry man.

  • Sounds a lot like Oasis.

  • @utubenicholas correction Oasis sound like crowded house

  • This guys are so great. :-)

  • Crowded own.

  • Love the Video to this song looks like so much fun

  • Love these tacky 80s music videos.

  • How to make a Crowded House music video:

    1. Get a camera

    2. Go skiing

    3. Film yourself being idiots and stumbling around on the ice.

    4. ????

    5. Profit!

  • I don't mean to offend, by the way, i like this video. I wish more videos for songs would be this simple.

  • Simple, and joyous. I agree!

  • Yes whatever.....see the humour in the video...& WHY should they NOT make a PROFIT! they wrote a great song & many more that followed.....this is how they make their LIVING...so pay for the music...why should they do this for free....Do you work for free?

  • SpencerIves was referring to a South Park episode about underwear gnomes, not knocking Crowded House.

  • YOU A WANKER

  • @SpencerIves Word! Yeah check out for instance 'It's Only Natural'....Homevids 101. Gotta love Crowded House. :-)

Still idiots arguing over the nationality of the artists. Aussie/NZ combo...you're both RIGHT! :-D

  • @KVedd I know! How about an ANZAC band. Or does that sound to military??

  • lol :52

  • marry me neil?

  • gracias a quien subio esta cancion.me recordo mi adolescencia.saludos desde mexico.

  • Neil Finn voice sometimes sound like John Lennon, and your music is really perfect

  • Is that Michael J. Fox????

  • i just love this vid. of course, moreso the song. who's the lady who plays an instrument along them onstage in this vid?

  • thanks. I thought it was only a rumour :)

  • I've heard rumours that Paul Hester left Crowded House because Neil was taking to much charge. I hope this isn't true. Can someone tell me???!?!?

  • I heard that it was because he hated the travelling - especially flying. He said so at the time.

Let's face it, NF wrote most of the songs, arranged & played many of the instruments. He went solo to explore new ideas, but really the (musical) heart of CH was NF.

Tim Finn, Craig Hooper, even Nick Seymour have all been asked to leave the band (& to return) at various times. Sometimes band mates fall out...

  • I feel like tap dancing!!! The best!

  • ok then what bands aren't bad. if these guys are bad then i reeeeeeeeeeeeealy hate to think what the bands you like are

  • Wow, that video used to give me so much pleasure.......

Love skiing, love music, hate that they broke up. I know you can't go back in time, but crowded house makes me wish I could.

  • Great Song :-)

  • Doctor Charles Follen McKim Maloney was an accomplished skier and of course he invented the snowboard.

  • I have read that Scottish psychiatrist and inventor Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney invented the snowboard but did not introduce it to the public because he felt it was ready for it yet.

  • Thats true. David Bowie leaked the invention to the public. As Dr. Maloney said, "the snowboard went downhill from there, which is of course what I designed it to do".

  • LOL! I didn't know he said that!

  • Thank you x one million. Didn't even know this existed. Laughed & wanted to cry at seeing Paul Hester so young and vibrant. And yes - Neil is the voice of two centuries.

  • Best. Voice. EVER.

  • great song...the finn brotheres are up there with beatles when it comes to writing great melodic tunes....awesome...

  • Absolutely. Just cuz the teenyboppers of the 60's went apesh*t over the B.'s doesn't mean the Finn's & their bands haven't equaled them in singing/ songwriting. They have. The B.'s were lucky: Timing can be everything, & they broke ground 1st. The Finn's have been performing for three decades & are still going strong (esp. Neil- just prolific!)

  • I love this. They look like they had a lot of fun together. And their matador coats!

Even Paul looks happy. RIP, Paul.

  • Paul always looked happy, that's whats so shocking really.

  • I think he may've suffered from bipolar depression. The mood swings are horrific. Most of the med's are ineffective &/or have bad side effects (that's not to say give up! He left behind a wife & kids...It's a wonder he was able to tour & perform as well as he did considering the agony he must've often been in, bless his wacky heart.)

  • the meds can be quite effective. different people will respond differently to different meds. there are side effects. the serious side effects are less common and if closely monitored by doctors they should not be life threatening. meds are only part of the answer

  • That's true. But behind the scenes were dark moods & his leaving mid-tour in Atlanta. Touring was said to be the worst part for him of being in an increasingly-popular band. If he did suffer w/ bipolar disorder, I can see him wanting to be at home, at home!

  • awesome song and so true what it says. content and much too safe.

  • awsome

  • where's Eddy Rayner? ;-)

  • I think, he's choking by Paul somewhere, near the end xD

  • awwh this is awesome.

Crowded House... playing in the snow

    fun xD

  • Let me guess: the record company gave them five grand to hire a director and make a video, and they said "hell, I've always wanted a video camera. Let's go skiing!"

  • Let me guess. The record company gave them five grand to hire a director and make a video and they said "hell, I've always wanted to buy a video camera. Let's go skiing!"

  • Who is that woman plaing keyboard?

  • Neil's wife Sharon's sung along w/ him on several tunes since at least '82 when they married (she's got long dk. br. hair & blue eyes); could be her?

  • Well, I think, it may me true. (I've never seen Sharon F.) But once I've heard about Gill Civil, who was briefly in the band and probably played keyboard on this video. But I'm not sure.

  • Yes, it's true. I'm Gill Civil and it's me on the video.

  • Pleased to hear from you! Did your experience leave you with the impression you were w/ (as heard in interview w/ the Crowdies) " 2dorks & a dictator"? It may not be very fair or even on the mark, but that may just be the media for you. You're outta "Aotearoa", still in music, tho'? So that was you on keyboard/vocals in matching costume?!

  • I don't know where you got that quote from - as I was never interviewed regarding the band and I would have never said those words. Crowded House largely kept me hidden from the media as they wanted to project the image that there were only three of them in the band. As far as the jacket goes - Neil loaned me it for most of the shows as he had another black one he wore. The orange one was fine until it caught fire on a stage light at a pub in Toorak, Melbourne.

  • Sorry it wasn't clear to you, RO that the questions were asked -maybe it was at their 1st Alaska show- of THE 3 MAIN GUYS; no one else. Mark didn't seem too pleased (who wants to be a dork!), nor Neil (as "dictator"). Couldn't find the clip before this post, so gave up for the time being. (Might be a diff. one.) No, I can't imagine you'd stand to gain anything by calling them that publically.

P.S. I'm putting my posts in as "Replies" but they're not at all in proper order. Confusing.

  • I really don't know where you're you're getting your info from!!! I never played with the band in any country other than Australia. I never met Mark - so how could I draw that conclusion about someone I had never met. Also I never thought those thoughts let alone say anything like that to anyone, the media or otherwise. I'm sorry but I think you're full of - you know what!! That's all I have to say on the matter.

  • Gosh, I remember that "2 dorks 1 dictator" quote it was one of Paul's from WAY back, around the Temple Of Low Men Days, in the late 80s. He used it a couple of times in interviews.

  • such a great song. One linguiring question though! Why wasn't this included on reoccuring dream, the best of Crowded House Album?

  • Marty Simpson did an awesome job of this. I have his version on my computer. I listen to it alot.

This is a great song. Go CH!

  • Can't stop listening to CH and I have found a new idol in Neil Finn. Definitely can hear some Beatle influence in this song. It's all good.

  • ....God, I love neil Finn....

  • i ment marty simpson would kill this song as in sing it great not kill it as in distroying it, Marty did a sick job singing it, i like the way he changed it around and put some reggie into it. MARTY RULES!!

  • youre right he stuffed it up BIGTIME, Neil Finn would have punctured his own eardrums rather than listen to what Marty did

  • who's MARTY? and what's going on with him???

  • marty will kill this song.

  • i do believe he did. my friend told me he sang crowded house. i shuddered as even though i dont watch the show i find covers of crowded house are terrible, especially james blunts version of fall at your feet. i was crying. it sucked.

  • Marty will be singing this song!!

  • hahaha paul pushed neil down the hill. yeah, they were booed. die whoever booed them. they're the best band!

  • Oh, I love this moment when Paul says noiselessly "I love you too" ;D It's the best ;))

    Excellent vid :)

  • OMG these videos bring back so many memories. When I first saw this,I remember thinking,"I wanna play in the snow too!"LOL

  • That's bullshit! booing Crowded House...what is the world coming to?

  • Exactly! What a bunch of speds!

  • I can't believe how recently in America they were booed cause they weren't loud enough.

  • My god, they were booed? I'm in TX and am seriously appalled if that is true. Where & when?

  • I live in Australia & I read it in one of our papers. It happened recently just after they reformed this year. I can't remember what part of the US they were performing in.

  • Coachella, they were on right before Rage Against The Machine.

  • That's the one. I understand it's held in California.Did they get booed or was it just paper talk?

  • I'm not sure, I know that Neil's microphone got hit with a water bottle. If you search it, you can see what happened.

  • Will be Te Awamutu, I guess.

Love this song, still great after all these years

  • Yeah, still love 'em. Can anyone out there tell me where this was filmed? An Aussie ski resort perhaps??

  • I love this song, and i love watching them just having fun!

  • reminds me of an early police video.looks like the guys had loads of fun at the start of this band.

  • Very funny video :) Great song.

  • This song, more than any other, reminds me of Paul at his best...onstage and making mischief.
