I have 4 Dalmatians and they are the most amazing creatures! but they are not for everyone! they need lots of attentions LOTS of exercise and patient, consistent training, they do not respond well to negative training eg. hitting, aggressive behavior but if you have the time, energy and patience this dog will make you one happy owner! Dal lover for life :) check out videos of my puppies
I had to put my Dal down in October. She had stomach cancer. Best dog ever, worst day ever. Patches, however, was not vocal at all. Very rarely barked or howled. This Dal is awesome!
@ssips720 It is because they are high energy and very intelligent. Most owners do not give them the proper amount of exercise both mentally and physically to tire them out and challenge their minds. That results in bad behavior. If you add in lack of leadership to the mix you have even bigger issues.
Your piggy in respect, but why do you watch those videos if you don't like dalmatians? I'm sure the dog wasn't responsable for what happened. I mean, how can a dog get this near to a small pet?
Dalmations are pretty darned smart dogs!! Our Dalmation mix 'talks' like the one in the video when she wants something. We'll ask her what she wants: If she wants a treat, she'll go and put her nose on the drawer where we keep her biscuits and if she wants out, she'll go and put hewr nose against the door.
Haha. Our Chiweenie waits till we pet her, then runs off, comes back to see if we're following. And then she'll just sit down in front of the cabinet holding all the "cookies." It's adorable!
My male could be your Dals twin, he has to run around barking, like a little kid saying "Look at me", he really gets wound up when the 2 Female Dals, Daughter and Girlfriend, are getting all the attention.
My dalm has same voice like yours ;) like it!

why do dalmaions get such a bad rap?
is it because they are independent?

Hi, this is Edna with Nutro.
Just wanted to say that the resident spottyed bedwarmer talks just as much! In fact, the other two before her were pretty vocal too!
