How to Install Radiant Floor Heat Tubing in a Slab On Grade

The tubing has a designed lifespan of 150 years....probably longer than most homes. Leaks are VERY rare because the tubing is pressure tested before the pour. As for freezing, the water in the tubing is far less likely to freeze in a slab than in your domestic water system due to the large thermal mass of the concrete. On the other hand, if freezing is an issue (remote home or common power outages in very cold location) then non-toxic anti-freeze can be used instead of water.

Call me crazy.... but putting plastic hoses in a cement foundation sounds like a future financial disaster when the tubing gets too old or springs a leak and needs to be repaired or replaced.

What happens to the tubing when water freezes inside it? Rip out your foundation?

By keeping all the circuits within the zones the same

length, within 10%, balancing valves aren't necessary.

Looks like Kitec tubing to me, not pex For what it matters.
