hm interesting =) I haven't seen many Holmes adaptation but this one seems to be the closest to the books :D For some unknown reason I prefer him like that! lol

Though it seems strange to see RDJ and Jude Law in their respective roles. Oh well, dry witted Robert Downey Junior and fed up Jud Law are just amusing to see. Can't wait for the movie to be released! =D (and those british accents... my fangirl heart is soaring with glee! lmao)

Uh, anyone who's read the stories and books would *not* see Jude Law and Downey, Jr. in their respective roles. Worst casting ever. Especially since these actors have been casted extraordinarily well in earlier films, it's hard to not imagine this is, for example, Iron Man in the 19th century. Sherlock Holmes is a master of wit and ingenuity, not of Michael Bay-like frenzy and fulminations. I'm very, very disappointed. I'll still watch it, but on DVD, thank you.

Sally, the "real" Holmes was a misogynistic drug addict with exactly two friends in the world: his brother and Doctor Watson. He's basically Doctor House.

hous does not matter to me, the story is "thinked" , clever and yes , House is Holmes in a sens . But this movie there...seems to be no more than a crap to me, just there to make money without respect for the original characters of Doyle.

The original characters, I feel, are given a real chance to express themselves in this movie.

The original Sherlock Holmes adventures were just that: adventures. You got glimpses of the personal lives of Doctor Watson and Mrs. Hudson and even Sherlock Holmes himself; but they were never the focus of the stories. Often, they were incidental to the stories.

What this has to do with Doctor House is he's a brilliant, troubled, irresponsible misanthrope whom people only tolerate because ...

... he can solve the unsolvable.  I feel confident that, if Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had decided to write character-driven adventures rather than plot-driven ones, then we might have seen a Sherlock Holmes that very much resembled Gregory House, M.D.

I feel this adaptation WILL be faithful to the true character of Holmes, who was a drug addict, a sexist, and an outcast, who lived to solve cases and who only had two friends in the world: Doctor Watson (like Doctor Wilson) and his brother.
