This was actually one of my least favorite episodes after 'The End of the World'. I think it was because of the farting gag and I wasn't to keen on the special effects with the unzipping of the head. Also the slitheen's didn't stand out to me very much.
Well, Rose had reason to think that she could travel with the Doctor without consequence. Whenever she wanted to head back, the Doctor could just land the TARDIS back in London ten minutes after she left.
This was the first episode of Doctor Who I ever saw. I was little, and the part where the Slitheen came out of their suits at the end freaked me out so much I had nightmares that night....
it would have benn nice if they did not show the 'actual' alien. i would rather see the 'disguise' version running around and being evil and all. this is problem with RTD episode. the idea is great but the presenration is just sh*t.
still a lovely review. and why arn't you discussing harriet jones? she is awesome.fact.
I'm sure the publishers of Paranormal Activity 2 would love the way you pirated the movie... and don't say you didn't, considering you have footage in your review. Well done, Idiot.
Good review as always dude, I actually was really into this episode (I was like 12 or something at the time -.-). The whole 'Dawn of a new age' thing was really cool for me. Could have done without the bloody fart gags though :/
@MarleeRobertson840 I think we all know who you really are and I do think you should just realise that if he had done anything wrong then he'd have his account removed by now. Also why do you care so much? Are you under the impression that people can't share subscribers. Do you think that every one subscribes to only one person.
Haha, perhaps RTD's idea of 'family viewing' was to have both seriousness and silliness in extremis: have people die and then do some fart gags. I also never realised that there was no reason for Joseph Green to be acting prime minister. Major plothole.
I have to admit though, that 'Mickey running into a wall' thing did make me laugh :)
It's been such a while since I watched this episode. I've got some pretty bad memories of it but I'm sure with older and matured eyes I can appreciate it more and see the good in it. :)
Your face at the fart scene was priceless and I generally don't watch a what happens next time because I know it spoils the cliff hanger, I generally don't like to watch the movie trailers that reveal all these good scenes and that is also why I loved district nine, great movie, didn't reveal anything for a while and even kept the aliens' look under wraps.
How many times do you have to be told. Reviews are protected under fair use so the BBC can't do anything. Fair use is for critical and educational purposes, which a review easily falls into.
I personally found and still do find this story quite effective though I was definitely miffed by the next time trailer. I suppose I find my horror mixed best with childish immaturity because suddenly every fat farty friend is a potential killer. Oh and I'd be interested to see what you make of my b00k once it's finished.
"I'm shaking my booty." Seriously, Russell, what the hell were you thinking when writing that line? Anyway, great review, man. I remember how pissed off I was when that next time trailer completely botched the dramatic tension of that awesome cliffhanger. I'm thankful the BBC responded by showing them after the credits from The Empty Child onwards.
Interesting. since I was 10 when I first saw this episode I thought it was really really good. But now, 5/6 years later it doesn't seem so great, but it's still really great.

Stop being so funny. It's hard to drink and laugh at the same time. Not to mention not recommended.

When you mentioned the Space Pig, I was expecting a joke about "Pigs in Space" from the Muppet Show.

The Slitheen are the worst aliens of the new series by miles. The farting aspect was just cringeworthy.

I die a little inside every time I see that clip of Mickey running into the wall and doing that stupid slapstick pratfall.

Your hands motions when berating Russel T Davies you either looked like the 11th Doctor or a penguin having a fit, i haven't decided which yet
ParanoidEngineer 1 year ago
My theory is Russell T Davies had nothing to do one night, so he wrote the fart scene for giggles, but forgot to erase it.
Or maybe he was high, I dunno.
Splendid review, as always.
