I am investigating possibilities for my own container home. I am interested in having a portion of the home to be underground. Are there satisfactory methods to mitigate corrosion for decades underground, or should I just use masonry of some type for the underground portion? Comments in your video seem very discouraging for underground use. Beyond coatings, would concrete or some other material provide sufficient protection or is the whole idea not recommended?
Yes the best model here is to create the underground portion using a construction method that is fast and effective - reinforced concrete and then use containers for the above ground section.
70mils thats alittle over kill plus primer that would be over 100mils the hinges wouldn't move with that much epoxy on them ..and i never heard you say anything about fire proof epoxy wouldn't it be smart to add fire proof to the epoxy also .i'm a contract painter and when we paint stair wells we use the same stuff but it's fire proof for collages ,hospitals,apartments ect
@myownruin187 - If your takeaway from this video was that I am encouraging you to bury a container and an instant underground building then I didn't reach you.

what if you encased it in concrete???

@eward666
Anything is possible if you throw enough time and money at it but the obvious question is why
encase a container in concrete ? Reinforced concrete ( minus container ) is the most efficient and effective solution for underground.
