It was just that he got confused because he didn't realize he was incorporating his surname into the question. He thought he was just addressing him "Justin ... Bieber ... sorry," and THEN the question "Is German for basketball?" plus the accent confused him even more so it sounded like he was asking "Is Jumen for Basketball?", which, respectful of the interviewer, doesn't at make any sense at all.
