  • would have been more awesome just keeping it as a display

  • the force is weak in this one

  • "holy shit" best part :D

  • lol

  • We just left Beggar's Canyon back home. Yee haw!

  • o man i am soo sorry but it was great would love to have one

  • the flight ends at 5:25

  • LOL midi soundtrack

  • TEEHEE IT GO BOOM!!!

  • I hope that old man got the tractor beam outta commission otherwise this is gonna be a real short trip, ok Chewie... punch it!

  • Poor Porkins :c

  • Ok seriously, who DIDN'T expect the spectacular "Snap, crackle, BOOM" that usually ends projects like this? pretty funny though...

  • "Hurry up, Luke! Wai-*kssssshhh*"

  • They were going to put it in the San Diego aerospace museum if it flew. It didn't, so they burned what was left. It just fell apart because it wasn't strong enough. I was there to watch it. it was so cool, but the wait was agonizing. The R2-D2 head actually swiveled around and the cockpit was big enough for a 7-year-old to fit inside. (nobody was in the rocket)

  • epic fail

  • AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • more like destruction of a great full scale,

but thumbs up for the effort :)

  • just for a second that looked amazing!!

  • Well...it flew.

  • @SzymonSzanczuk - i thing they don't have to open the wings.

  • Awesome

  • I see the problem. They didn't open the wings.

  • and thus the empire won .....

  • and thus the empire won .....

  • Looks like a TieFigher came from above. So it would be nice to add StarWars laser cannon sound at 5:19.

  • remember the German V1 rockets from WWII ? they used to be launched of an angled ramp...you should try that. Just saying.....

  • FAIL!!!

  • 5 4 3 2 1... Holy shit... lol

  • What really happend to it was that damn tie fighter! Let the truth be told!

  • Its... beautiful...

  • I think the 'flight of the x-wing' as a title is pushing it, more like the 'launch and immediate plummet of the x-wing'.

  • explosion fail?

  • It would have been easy to add some R/C systems to have some directional control. The switch to level flight destroyed it, if they could have kept it going straight up it might have stayed together.

  • Looks like they shouldn't have secured the engines on the wings because that was the weak link.

  • " Loosen up! "

  • PA guy has no skills....LOL "holy shit" nice, next time take your hand off the com link....PUTZ

  • the flight starts at 5:15

  • @LUkewet and finished at 5:18

  • @LUkewet and ends in like 5 seconds lolz

  • A fine tribute to Porkins.

  • haha

  • "The X-Wing should be going pretty quick"

    It sure was! XD

  • One small step for some nerds....one giant set-back for nerdkind.

  • Shut up and wait on their tables....

  • haha loser

  • nice try

  • omg... that "announcer" is THE worst i have ever heard anywhere. its embarrassing!!!

  • great idea shortening the wings all others with full scale wings crashed (too much drag)

  • Ahhhh E-Wing kicks every fighter's #%& lol.

  • very nice replica for being destroyed.......it deserved a museum....

  • @supessayan129 They were going to put in the aerospace museum in San Diego.

  • lmaooo i love how they used the version of the star wars theme you get built into keyboards

  • its a .mid file...

  • Question... if they didnt trust the stability of the wings enough to move the thing with them attached, did they ever REALLY expect it to survive flight? Or was there another reason for removing the wings prior to moving?

  • probably so it didn't hit anybody or so it was easier to push in terms of dynamics and weight.

but i agree, if this was because they were unstable then the whole thing is a complete epic fail.

  • @saucysbitch They had to tilt the thing upwards.

  • fail

  • It looks like we won't be seeing any US military using X-wings since it disintegrated after liftoff.

  • look at those losers! lol

you may ask an Iraqi kid to teach you how to manufacture a true military rocket in less than an hour !

  • @GlitchAttack It's not for the military, it's just for fun. And most rocket launches are very safe.

  • he could have died, why were they clapping, yah he's dead. stupid noobs

  • Who let those idiots stand that close?

  • says the guy who is on an american-made website on an american-made internet

  • If you made something great, you probably would clap too

  • lithanor, you don't understand us Americans. We love to make things go BOOM. It's what we do.

  • Yeah, you do.

  • @ballantrae101 and intentionally killing millions of japanese or russian people in the process? do you enjoy that, bit?

  • It was a wonderful idea but maybe they have to reinforce the structure.. I think!

  • lol holy shit! cover me porkins! having a bit of trouble here porkins going down

  • the guy on the PA is a fuckin' retard...half of the stuff he says makes no sense. Shame for the guys who built it, obviously didn't take the stresses into account, thing just fell apart.

  • they did one version of this where a tie fighter dove in and blew it to hell....LOL

  • gay music

  • @metroidTamer010 dude, it's the star wars theme music.

  • @95shredder

I know, i'm not stupid. Its a cheap knock-off. Not the real thing. The real song isn't stupid.

  • poor little astro droid didnt stand a chance lmao

  • someone needs to make a .gif out of this and stamp it with a MASSIVE FAIL xD haha

but still cool nonetheless. i'd hang a peice on my wall xD

  • Sucks for the guy who was flying it.

  • you are standing way too close

  • well, this was longer than it needed to be. im sure everyone just wanted to watch the flight. by the way nice keyboard star wars music. i hate those trumpets wannabes. get a brass recording it sounds so much cooler.

  • I just hope some day they will build one that doesn't come appart, that will be awesome.

  • give me money and ill build 2 of them.

  • GUYS!!!!!! The rocket was BLOWN APPART. I spoke to the president of Plaster Blaster, who supervised the rocket build. The rocket should not have come appart, not even if it hit the ground hard. The reason it came appart into hundreds of pieces was because it was curving towards the crowd. Had it wenty straight up, it would have been successful.

Model rocketry is very safe. This stuff does not happen every time a big rocket is launched. ~98% of the rocket launches are successful!

  • Watching closely just before detonation the rocket had failed... there is CLEARLY an engineering failure here, when the engines seperate from the fuselage... if they DID intentionally detonate this, they place MORE people at risk as the engines were STILL UNDER POWER! so instead of ONE dirt-bound projectile, there are now at least 5... four motors, one cockpit, and debris... so I really hope it just failed, and that people weren't endagered stupidly.

  • No, seriousyl. I personally got in touch with the owner, and he said theywere forced to put charges into the ship, due to its size. Had they not detonated it, likely people would have been injured.

  • holy shit

  • holy shit is right!

  • man, that was... HILARIOUS!!!

it would seriously suck for the guy that spent 10 years of his life building that thing.

  • I guess it will be cgi forever, until the improve on the flight of an x-wing

  • How depressing. <.<

  • What did they build this thing out of? Plastic? It's all about materials....

  • I wonder if there are plans for something similar with the A-Wing from Jedi?

    I HOPE SO!

  • I just took a crap and watched it for 8 minutes,,,, it was slightly better than watching this!

  • WHAT AN ANTI-CLIMAX.

  • aaaaaggggghh star wars- runescape music!!!

  • given the amount of people that really love starwars i think that version 7 will fly around the world in 20 years and i will be in the interceptor on its tail.

  • puh thetic!

  • i dont know what was more pathetic. the project or the actual launch.

  • What kind of moronic launch was this, anyway?!? Those four people were within spitting distance of that heap-o-destruction, and the safety code calls for them to have been 500 feet away. And who was the RSO who approved this launch?

What a stupid way to potentially add the first fatality to the hobby in over 50 years.

  • who's the asshole on the megaphone?

  • your father :D

  • lololol

  • tie fighter.... other than the fact you have lived in a box your whole life, can you read?

  • cool

  • Now I wanna see a real flying Republic Gunship. lol

  • ill strap turrets and rockets to my minivan!

  • Cool, Clone Pilot CP-8119 is my co-pilot! lol

  • ill shoot the turets...

  • Then we only need Republic Commandos and/or ARC-Troopers for *more power* lol

  • nah we dont need them...just sum dumbasses willing to kill themselve via flaming minivan chuck full of bullets...but get them anyways!!

i wonder if i can genetically modify an iguana into the giant rideable lizard!!

  • LOL the X-wing got Intercepted by a TIE interceptor XD

  • "the cannons are very fragile, be careful with the cannons!" That's why you make them out of STEEL! lol

I love the guy who said "yeah, go ahead and empty your wallet into the donation box"

  • Glue!!! Who said to use fucken Glue!!! You bastard, you glue sniffing bastard its ruined. You glue sniffing baaastarrrrd.

  • I'm supried that it even lifted off

  • I am impressed it even got off the ground, this is awesum. Con't with research and you could make it better. Maybe put a small wing on the front.

  • The force be with you !

  • I suppose that's what happens when you try to build a flying machine out of cardboard and drywall...

  • that comment made me lol

  • in the 80tis the US Airforce ask for the plans of the x-wing. they were realy intrested in the design.

  • THE FUTURE IS STAR WARS...

In the year 2200, don't be surprised when X-wings are flying through through the skies of earth, in battles with other fighter ships from other worlds...

  • This.

    FTW!

  • I wish I could live to see that :(

  • You will :-)

  • I was talking to Gasoline85.

  • I'm just gonna be a smart ass and say they REALLY LOVE Star Wars don't they.

  • My shit ain't holy, that's for sure!

  • why'd it explode?

  • it was veering off so they self destructed it

  • rly???

  • im not sure but i saw it in pop sci lol.

  • o wait no they tried to open the parachutes attached to it.

  • are you sure it's a full scale model?? it looks kinda smaller.

  • it says 1/2-scale in the video and in the description

  • That was like watching the spaceshuttle Challenger blowing up, only set in the SW-universe. :-/

  • You really shouldn't compare a model blowing up to the real thing with real people dying.

  • I'm not. I realize what a tragedy it was.

I'm just saying it's slightly reminiscent.

  • in the interview they predicted that this would happen

  • guess "level 2 rocketeer" dont mean squat

  • Mistakes happen... not saying this was built correctly at all... but then even NASA had it's fair share of mistakes... and theirs had human lives directly involved. Apollo 1 (i think) was such an example, blew up on the pad. These guys made it further, as amateur rocketeers, not professionals. They deserve some respect for clearing the pad, at least.

  • what made them think it would fly?

  • awesome rocket, incredible failure

  • hmm, well it was a waste of money, but i guess id do the same for a Battlestar raptor model :D

  • "HOLY SHIT" (5:27)Roflmao!!!!!

  • i finaly found this video! My grandpa and his crew of 9 made this rocket it took em a year to make it and over 12,000 dollars, it sucked when it launched i was so disapointed. he sat on the truck you can bearly see him.

  • 'Holy Shit!' LMAO!! That about sums it all up :D

  • Thats cool, but it they would use real plane-parts I think it would hold better. This was more like a waterrocket. Not what I expected. =(

  • waste of money but hey look at it this way the first country to actually create an x wing rules the world :)

  • nah, first country that makes a TIE Fighter rules the world :P

  • i dont no much about starwars but im pretty sure an x wing can beat a tie fighter

  • NO! whoever makes the first deathstar rules the world!

  • Way cool. Now thats what I want to do in my back yard!

  • Looks like they're on tatooine

  • the rebel cause has lost all hope

  • wow, did R2 make it? lol

  • what about the Y-wing?

  • That's a shame that it fell apart so fast. Still, that's really cool and funny! Good effort guys!

  • too bad it didn't make it to space!

  • oct 6 is my b-day. this happend on my b-day :):):)

  • It fell apart so fast...

  • the nerd's have a lot of tiem off and money. this is ridiculus

  • great job guys - clearly tons of effort into that... someone just needs to CGI a TIE fighter coming in and blowing it up, that'll top this vid :)

  • Its been done. It was also really funny, look it up.

  • lol

  • take the megaphone off that guy lol

  • sweet!!!! added yesterday

  • I wish i could go to it

  • LOL

    It was short but good(?)

Too bad at the end :(

  • Looked amazing. I hope they do a Viper from the Classic Battlestar Galactica (1978) next!!!

  • Vader one, Rebels zero. But what a way to go.

  • Wow... that thing was too cool to have explode.

A little more basic strength testing could have prevented the thing from exploding in flight methinks.

VERY impressive build though. It looked awesome. Do it again.. but with stronger wings :D

    -Eric

  • DUDE think they made it out of baltic birch wood and aluminum bars to give it support

but if they add TO MUCH SUPPORT then they would have never made it that high the X wing is an un realitic design and those rockets boosters aren't made to carry to much wait... and it takes a shit load of time to make that IVE GOT A GOOD IDEA U MAKE ONE

  • I don't have the desire nor the funding to create such a project. It's awesome. I'm just saying a little more testing might have caught the potential problem. No need to be an asshole. Oh wait, this is youtube commenting. Everybody is retarded... including me.

    -Eric

  • "why dont all you negative commenter give the team props instead of being a dick and saying negative remarks."

Because they are bored, uncreative, cowardly and wish they had the disposable income to play with big cool toys... Just look at the member name and it tells the whole story.

  • and everbody eles who has pushed the limits , think about where we would be these days.

  • why dont all you negative commenter give the team props instead of being a dick and saying negative remarks. They spent thousands of man hours and about 6 grand on the project. Sure it didnt work as planed. But it was one hell of an effort. If it wasnt for people like these fine individuals ,

  • may the force crush the skulls of these shitty piolts

  • What planet is this? Tatooine? They're all very luck Tusken Raiders didn't attack this party before it got started!

Anyway, this is still awesome despite its short flight! May the force be with you on your next attempt!
