  • @ ditooley: This brings back memories. My cowboy hero was Hopalong Cassidy (William Boyd), then Gene, Roy, and then the Durango Kid. I used to love it when he went he rode into the cave as Charles Starrett and came out as the Durango Kid. Read him in the comic books as well.

  • the durango kid was right up there with roy rogers and gene autry. very entertaining, lots of action. smiley burnette used to tour all over the country, he came to a theater in my city way back in about 1950. goshdurn it, i never got to see him!

  • when i was a little kid, roy rogers was no.1, gene autry no.2 and the durango kid was no.3. a pretty good rating, considering all the other cowboy stars around at the time. how entertaining it all was.

  • At 5:27, how did they know to run upstairs?

  • This is definitely Jocko Mahoney doubling as Durango, climbing over the rooftops. It was his stunts that made the series what it was. Starrett said he just did the dialogue for Jocko.

  • My Hero when i was young

  • I was brought up with this

  • I haven't done any deep research, but it would be great to see some of the best of the rest of these.

  • thanks charles starrett

  • Awesome acting in the first minute. :Father looks down in shame:

I love Durango, though. I could watch that crap all day, with Bob Wills and Tommy Duncan providing the tunes. :)

  • this picture is so funny!
