While it is true that being in good shape is preferable to being obese, true martial arts do not absolutely require it. Arts such as Kenpo & Kung Fu have an internal structure that the practitioner must "find." Once said practitioner finds his structure, he can ironically become lazier with his technique (meaning he no longer has to strictly follow textbook motions for the techniques to work). While Mr. Speakman does appear to be over-weight, his Kenpo is better now than when he was young.
I don't know that much about Mr. Parker's American Kempo nor Mr. Speakman's Kempo 5.0 but I thought Mr. Speakman mixed the kempo(Mr. Parker's) with some form of Jujutsu? Where is the 5.0 or the new techniques that makes this 5.0? Thank you for your time. Osu
After the shin kick if the back leg is hit, perhaps try a short side-kick to the other leg/knee. You should fold the leg up, or dislocate/hyper-extend the knee pretty good. At that point the fight with that opponent should be over. Move on. Just a suggestion.
Depth deception? closing the gap is what its generally know as, new terminology= I can charge more money- its a word play game. My issue with this drill is repetition builds habit and your creating a terrible habbit in dirlling backing up in a straight line as a defensive. Maybe because its a new technique for these people. Once the technique is shown do you address and drill how an experienced fighter would react, add some realism to the drill.
@upload66able I agree, it is highly risky. But I think it should end after the right cross punch or have a more tangible technique after the right cross.
It's actually called "spatial distortion" and to truly keep from telegraphing the head should not move up and down... while maintaining the width of the body in the forward movements. (footwork) great concept.....
That was really well performed, and this is a great fighting drill.

Is Kenpo in Canada? I know we have something called "Kemp Kung Fu" which is part of "The Spirit of The Dragon".
