I love this soundtrack! Sounds like "Survivor" ! What Royalty free editing soundtrack did you use? Is it Digital Juice? Where did you get this soundtrack from? Thanks.
@889900ism Well, depends what you mean. It's faster then a Bradley if it's speed. If you mean which is a better fighter, Bradley is also a Tank Destroyer, so it's most likely that the American M2/M3 Bradley would win that. Your never going to see this beat a T-72 or any Main Battle Tank for that matter, but the Bradley did it during Desert Storm. Of course, this could run away from a tank so easily...
@Orthodoxcrusader NO I mean ABS. In the vid at 1:25 they show it skidding around without abs and stopping straight with it. Traction control isn't even mentioned in this video and for the record an 8 wheel vehicle really wouldn't need it.
I think it's great that the U.S. have bought these, as they have been great vehicles for many many years. It was funny that some parts of this video are almost identical to Mowag's (the original European inventor ) promotional videos lol.
If it works, it works, and there was no need for the U.S. to try to better the original.
you are under a common misconseption and no disrespect but a LAV just means it has armor that will stop some small arms fire for example in the military i was taught that a humvee is a LAV
canada builds some sick LAVS.... the usas stryker is a bigger cannon rip off of our LAVS... and a piece of shit.... the LAV 3 is a beast and in my opinion better then the m3a3 bradley.... sure it dont have tracks but wheels are much better for takin battle damage and being repaired in the field....
The Coyote differs from the LAV-25 in that i has no amphibious capibilities, the CF don't need it as much as the marines do, the Propps were replaced with fuel tanks. There are a few other smaller differences.
the LAV 3 needs to be higher off the ground and equipped with a V shaped hull, the 25mm cannon is sufficient for an APC or AFV, But they should also make a variant of the LAV strictly for troop transport, no cannon = more troops. instead of a 25mm turret, replace it with a .50 cal or MK19, much like the stryker but higher of the ground and with a V shaped hull
even if we do get the CV90 we won't get rid of the LAV (not the LAV 25 anyways) because it's the worlds only MMES which the CV90 cannot support that system and the LAV 25 is much improved than the 3
Canada use the LAV-25 called LAV-Coyote is a reconnaissance wheeled vehicle which use a 10 m telescoping mast with radar and day/night camera. The LAV-Coyote is a very hight tech vehicle but the LAV-25 have some poor off-road capacity and is not the ideal vehicle for reconnaissance. The Coyote will be retried between 2011-2014.
The Canadian Forces also use a LAV-25 variant called Bison which supposed to be a reservist vehicle but the canadian forces use them for regular land force command due easy to use and easy to modified for different role such ambulance to ASCC.
The Bison is the original LAV1, it uses a different engine (Detroit Diesel 6V53T) and minimal electronics. It is also used as a Mobile Repair vehicle for EME.
There is also the newest LAV3 which is superior to everything listed, and more superior than anything the Americans use.
The LAV-III is a vehicle for asymmetric warfare such during a urban operation , the vehicle didn't meet the exigence of many military force such in Canada. The only reason why Canada had bought this vehicle is for the rapid deployment with Hercule C-130 around the world and also is a cheaper vehicle than the tracked CV90 for example.
Canada have a lot of problem in Afghanistan with mud, mud wall and other off-road problem which Taliban profit and make catastrophic ambush against CF.
The LAV-III is a good vehicle for asymmetric warfare but seriously not for conventional battlefield and this is for why today (May 26 2009) Peter Mackay had announced a expeditionary force of CV90, and maybe the LAV-H (heavy version of the current LAV-III).
Canada lost over 80 soldiers in Afghanistan due of the poor survivability of the LAV-III and the LAV-H have modified some problem such the a new hull with V-Hull and new ballistic protection, powerful engine and 35mm gun unlike now a 25mm.
Fabrication and final assembly of the vehicles is being shared among plants at Anniston, Alabama; Lima, Ohio; and London, Ontario. Parts and components for various syetms on board come from all over.
well, I do not understand why people keep the latest model (Stryker) so great ... it looks to be some kind of low quality version of similar European personal carriers
The Stryker is garbage anyways its more like a LAV 2.5 then a LAV 3. The Stryker has the narrower wheel base and less powerful engine that the LAV 2 has plus all the extra armour and armaments that the LAV 3 has. Thats what makes it get stuck so easily and so tippy. The LAV 3 we use up here in Canada is a different vehicle it has a far larger engine and a wider wheel base. The clips you see here of a LAV 3 going through mud missing wheels and crap, the American Stryker won't do that at all.
The US Stryker was intended as an "interim" vehicle to bridge the gap between what they have today and FCS. As such, the USA ensured this vehicle has a high degree of recapitalization. Almost every part on that Stryker can be "recycled" on other vehicles. It's great because it fill a specific role which vehicles like the M1/M2 can't do well.
Try doing a convoy security mission with an M2?
How well does an M113 hold up against an IED?
The fills isn't intended for the slugfest against armor, but the police missions we have in places like Somalia, Liberia, Haiti, Iraq (today), Afghanistan........
Nothing is perfect take enough explosvies in the right configuration you can take out a MBT..might not destroy but throw a track and your mobility is gone. I build better armor you build a better warhead...game of cat and mouse..and it gos on and on and on.
Thats a couple of canadian designs as well as the LAV-25 (25mm bushmaster chain gun), LAV-AT (Anti Tank) and then the stryker (LAV 3).
For the most part, frosty4700 is kinda right, the older LAV's are kinda rickety but... they do the job. They can roll with a couple wheels missing. Not so good against IED's but, they do well against some RPG's and most small arms fire. The US Stryker was intended as an "interim" vehicle to bridge the gap between what they have today and FCS. As such, the USA ensured this vehicle has a high degree of recapitalization. Almost every part on that Stryker can be "recycled" on other vehicles. The engine is the common engine used on trucks, as is the tranny and tires etc. It's logistically easier to sustain that way, and it also saves money. The Stryker is a stop-gap measure, nothing more.
