  • New pair of overalls for Mr Higgins

  • Shat myself just watching that, Mark held that together very well and right back on the gas. awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • that driver...is amazing!

  • Fantastic Mark! Just epic.

  • Incredible!

  • HE Handled That Nicee

  • Holy crap that's fast. If you crash in that environment, there's a good chance you're dead, innit.

  • That was the best peice of driving i have ever seen, i crashed my car when it started to snake like that at a third of the speed, absoulutly phenomanal amount of skill to be able to get the car back in line at that speed. Not to mention the balls to carry on at that pace after narrowly avoiding almost certain death. Also watch the co driver not a flinch the expression on his didnt even change he must have a lot of faith in Mark Higgens. Big thumbs up!!

  • What a save!! Superb driving and in 6th he's gotta be doing 120mph

  • was flat in 6th so 150 easy i'd say

  • ^I think the "co-driver" was in fact a journalist... Probably more in shock than balls!

  • 1.10 in thats me on the right arms folded marshalling on the day

  • He needed that car to carry his GIANT BALLS

  • Not even Bruce Lee would have been able to get a hit in between that steering wheel fu!

  • fookin awesome skills

  • 25 persons did crash the bump

  • Racingdriver win over the odds he^s whole career. First day as retired they drive of the road :-).

Make a mathematic calculation for that :-)

  • O..M..G..

  • top gear sent me here

  • i dont think i can turn the steering that fast even if i practiced a whole month for such a moment

  • The Co-driver has Titanium Balls.

  • lol the co driver shat him self :)

  • Biggest moment of his life? Wife's gonna have a comment about that.

  • Good boy! Natural talent shining through there. Happy New Year Mark.

  • There are 12 balls under co-driver's pants.

  • mad handles

  • I was mento say that was beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeping unreal some 1 was on ur side could have been nasty wow you have a big pair

  • That was bbbbbbb

  • Watched this 10 times and I still can't believe how good that save was.. The man's got skills

  • That is absolutely phenomenal driving

  • "To be honest I don't know how we caught that" Hahahaaa

  • Likt en chef

  • Think it might be an idea to check the co-driver's pulse..

  • Watch "Bertie Fisher brake failure" to see awesome rally car control

  • almost every single race ive watched on this course they either wreck or almost wreck (fishtailing) in that corner... you think people would learn to slow it just enough to where they could make the corner without fishtaing and lose less time than they would by fishtailing out of it. lol. just my opinion

  • chuck norris like recovery there

  • Awesome recovery.....is there any video of this from the outside. Love to see it.

  • @COUGHLAN0 Try this "Mark Higgins at the bottom of Bray Hill in the Subaru, just about to slide"

  • @COUGHLAN0 there you go with the video "Subaru Isle of Man TT Record Attempt"

  • @rzuber he is discussing this moment at the end of the video

  • I know the arguments against cars at the TT but I love this video, on the edge then a wee laugh afterwards

  • ari vatanen "dear god" moment is much scarier than that

  • best video i've seen in a while. his eyes man, his eyes...

  • We?

  • Noticed he didn't blink till AFTER he recovered! hahahaha

  • @OTKSenior He knew he is in the hands of a driving god :))

  • hit the wall and cope with that, my own style :)

  • Guy in the passenger seat has no idea what was going on. Did he think that was normal lol?

  • @OTKSenior HAHAHA that guy is stone cold!

  • ... so the front wheels lost grip and started that wobble?, not bad save at all... i have had few of these moments myself.

  • Bit of a 'JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL' moment. Apparently he heard.

  • I still can't understand how he manages to hold the slide? What are you actually meant to do when that happens?

  • @hojkoff have balls like mark higgins or pray to God you die fast and painless.

  • @hojkoff Steer into the slide, and not brake. Most probably you'll end up crashed.

  • @simematejure But he did brake. He said afterwards he was dabbing the brakes like, well a mad thing dabbing the brakes.

  • @hojkoff You have to have very fast hands and stay ahead of the motion. I have saved my car a few times from much less harrowing circumstances. At that speed on a true street, the guy is a machine.

  • Heart in your mouth, s'kiddies in your pants

  • Obviously there was a "STFU, I GOT THIS" sticker on the dash.

  • Fifth gear brought me here!

  • co-driver's constipation is now cured!

  • No "dear god" in this?? haha!

  • /watch?v=-R7ws741KpE

  • co-pilot stone cold... balls bro.

  • @aesutton yeah what a fake !

  • @aesutton yea mate.

  • He held it because it is a Subaru!

  • UNREAL... thats mad skill

  • @aesutton as your life.

  • if speaks and drives, whats for the other guy? Weight balance?

  • @MrBoomslash he's the journalist

  • damn!!! dat was ice cold

  • the co driver was as steady as a fcuking rock!

  • @Simonio8 yeeees dont move a little!

  • Like a BOSS!

  • @tchero72 like a reindeer!

  • The co-driver is the R&T guy and I don't think he even realized how close to crashing they were.

  • The co-pilot is too calm during this.

  • @rideride2 he doesnt realize what would have happened at that speed.

  • This is why you don't rally a stock car.

  • Thank God it was a Subaru, damn this is why I love Subarus

  • That was a proper recovery. Rally Driving is such a fascinating way to observe the laws of physics and skill

  • That was the best save ever, he saved him and the passenger's life

  • se me ha puesto el pelo de puntaa!!!

  • good car....

  • I'd have needed new pants after that. Actually, I probably would have died... Couldn't have pulled that save off myself, I'm sure. Epic driving.

  • I have no idea how he hung onto that...unbelievable!

  • that was not 150mph what a joke. Maybe 150kmph

  • @Birdcage67554 I onw an STI and in 6th wound out like that it would be at least 220kmph or more...no joke

  • Awesome car control!

  • @ConceptVBS Total rubbish. You can't compare rally to F1. 2 totaly different sports that require different skills.

  • @Iron883Man corse you can, they are different skill sets granted, but a rally driver has to work much hard at the controls to drive the car, they have to cover different ground surfaces snow ice tarmac dirt sand water traps,,, and the course differs on a daily basis. Therefore I and concept share the same opinon, ie rally drivers are better, Also concider this Seb Loeb drove a RB F1 car with in an hour he was posting top 10~ times, take an F1 driver and stick him in a rally car (kimi) = rubbish

  • @gg6977 F1 is about knowing the track blindfolded and taking the immense G forces that an F1 car can crash down on you. Rally pilots in F1 cars won't even come close to the laptimes guys like Vetel or Cubica run.F1 drivers drive rallies inbetween seasons. Never herd of a rally driver dooig F1 races in his free time. So wich one would be the hardest? Where did you ever find info that Loeb would drive top 10 times on an official F1 track? It's like comparing Mountainbike with roadcycling.

  • @Iron883Man type Seb lobe + f1 testing you'll discover a wiki page (not edited by me:) Check out the peice in winter testing in the F1 section at the bottom, "took part in the first official Formula One winter test in Barcelona.[23] Loeb was eighth quickest of 17 drivers". Not too shabby. I know its only testing but still IMHO rally drivers are the more talented drivers,

  • @gg6977 I respect your oppinion and I don't underestimate the driving skills that WRC drivers have. But from my experience...you need tons of tallent on the track aswel. Just go to your local track, drive about 40-50 laps (not on same day, cause you will be exhausted after 10-15) and just see how much effort it will take to keep improving laptimes. Now in F1, you'r not talking seconds like in rally, you'r talking 1/100th of a second or sometimes even milliseconds.

  • @Iron883Man Its a fair point, the only track time I've had is in an Aston Vanquish round goodwood, and lots of karting, the thing is I can drive round a track fast (for an average joe) but I couldn't even begin to tackel a forest stage at pace, the first off cambered bend with loose gravel and I would be in the trees. Dont get me wrong I know track racing is difficult, but rallying takes another level of finess. Its going to be one of those questions that splits peoples opions, like cars vs bike

  • @gg6977 Yep, you'r right on that. Most tracks are easier to start of at relative high speeds. Rally is perhaps a more techical sport because it involves techniques that you will probably never see on the track (left foot braking, handbrake turning, heel/toe driving). These are techniques most ppl are afraid to use or learn. Once you do master them (wich isn't insanely hard), you'll find rally is somewhat easier because you aren't driving the limits of your car, but rather the limits of the road.

  • Even in a properly prepped rally car 240kph into a tree going to kill you. Very lucky!

  • problem Vatanen?

  • Unbelievable !!! what would be your footwork in that recovery?? Clutch in, and try to steer ... or just brake and hope for the best ?

  • @disengagejam

Just dab the brakes when the car is going straight to slow it down best you can, but you don't want any input on the pedals when the car is going sideways as you want all the available grip to straighten the car up. A tyre only has so much grip and using some of it to accelerate/decelerate means that grip is unavailable for changing direction. Don't touch the clutch - you want all the engine braking you can get!

Not that it matters. You have to be a driving god to pull that off!

  • explains why hes a chanpion... its a shame we cabt see him attack the sebastians on the world stage

  • epic save! getting loose in awd car is completely different than anything else. if this had been an older pre-electronic diff STI there would have been carnage.

  • my good!!! what an awesome catch!!!!

  • one word, epic.

  • At 0:58 you can see people looking at the car and where possibly saved by the driver preventing an accident. Again, wow. It looks like right before he hit the bump, he was turning slightly and when the suspension rebounded, it unsettled the car.

  • Absolutely epic save! If everyone had those skills whenever they got into a hairy situation, ESC (Electronic Stability Control) would not be needed. That driver saved someone's house or life. That "track" is scary since it is within the urban environment.

  • i would have pooed!!!!!!!!!

  • @gordcivic i think i did wow

  • @ConceptVBS The best rally drivers become F1 drivers. F1 drivers are the best drivers in the world.

  • @ConceptVBS

    *cough*senna*cough cough*Jim Clark*cough*Niki*cough*Lauda*cough*

  • higgins is an awesome pilot....seen him rally in ireland in an s11, through a serious high speed bend and was the only man never to lift off or touch the brakes....legend

  • co-pilot just sits ther "LIKE A BOSS"

  • Pause it at 0:58 exactly to see a group of people that nearly got wiped out.

  • haha done that myself

  • Well held

  • And that's how it's done.

All calm and collected even if he's not.

Perfect example of carbon fiber coated, titanium reinforced, ball of steel.

    WOW!

  • For some reason I was sweating when watching this

  • The Driver hits the wall at 0:51 and recovers the car. Need for Speed physics could happen in real life!! wow!

  • @ravenstylea2 he didn't hit the wall he hit a bump at high speed, amazing car control most people would have lost it.

  • wasn't his time that day.

  • That was an absolutely amazing recovery, I would have been sitting in someone's back garden in about 100 pieces lol!

  • epic

  • Wow, that was close.

The eyes of the co-pilot during the near-crash make me cry from laughter, I wish I could have heard his thoughts during that split second, lol.

  • what a save.....

  • the man has skillz

  • some say the driver's hands are so fast that he can make women explode by rubbing them. some say the co-pilot can dodge bullets...

  • Racing drivers. :D

  • Someone nearly got a car in their garden!

  • @LukeMLBarry Quite frankly, he wasn't though, was he.

  • "To be honest I don't know how we held that" ~ You're In a Subaru :P

  • Cars 2 advertisement ftw!

  • ez higgadt állat......

  • Well held...Don't think even The Stig would've held that

  • Miggins = GOD!!!

  • Welcome to the IOM yo! Shame I don't get to drive a section of the TT course without speed limits on the way to work everyday..... oh wait, I do! Life ftw.

  • wow- he fixed that so yarely and calmy

  • man watching the driver while he navigated that near miss was amazing, such fast readjustments under such pressure, so easy to over compensate :-)

  • Incredible save - 99% of us would have probably died in such a situation.

  • The co pilot must be a freaking robot.

  • PORRA!!! muito bom!! fez-se silencio no momento :|

  • @27victorhugo haha this always happens at circuit details la sarthe in gt5.

  • Dude I was riding in there with you!

  • 113mp it done the lap rover was 102mp buy tony pond..

not bad for a rover though..

  • as an owner of and WRX STI 2011, Im pleased with this video ;)

  • has it been round the entire track, or does the Rover still hold the records?

  • you held it because its a Subaru..some car.

  • co-driver was not amused

  • Tank slapper !!!!!!

  • That is some serious skill.

  • Lol @ that dude sitting next to driver keeping the Poker Face all the time xD

  • Great control man ;)

  • 00:55 second screen,steering wheel !!! EPIC

  • try to imagine....the navigator screming like a girl (rofl)

  • i would want a spare pair of undies stat after that

  • bet there is a hole in that seat where higgins` arse puckered up !! and i think the co driver was quietly soiling himself through that i know i would have been !

  • Cold tyres really do help make corners more interesting

  • Co driver never flinched :O

  • hero.

  • Wow

  • Some good driving

  • I'd hate to be in charge of cleaning the seats.

  • Balls defined.

  • co-o driver is the real driver. he;s menaging this subaru with his I-Phone lolololololololololololol

  • great save!!

  • unbelievable control tekkers

  • That co-pilot has balls of steel. He looks like his mum is driving him to the shops.

  • @TheMonoFail: And guess what, it was a journalist coming along for a spin :) i do love how casually he took it too haha

  • @TheMonoFail funny thing is that it wasnt his co-pilot it was a journalist!

  • @TheMonoFail a copilot has to be like a brother for a driver. they need to have a lot of feeling.

  • That's not luck that is one badazz driver

  • this is just one of the best saves i have ever seen...and he was (relatively) calm about the whole thing...great driving....

  • 00:56 hit something on the road, what a save though!!

  • I'm not sure if I'M ok after that XD

  • U OK after that?
