  • what kind of power strip/surge/UPS are you using to protect all of your equipment? please help. i already have a yamaha RX-A1000. the next im gonna purchase is the emotiva XPA-5. im just using an ordinary power strip from radioshack as of now. i have two huge polk audio SDA2a. they are really old speakers given to me by a friend. but they still sound good. what power surge am i gonna buy?

  • @jaygax

Panamax M5400-PM is what I currently have.

  • @jaygax i have a monster power, connected my old dolby pro logic decoder

  • Man the Scientific Atlanta really got be going, when you said that I nearly fainted, haha. I really really really need to get me one of those Scientific Atlantas, that's really the brand I'm talking about. Just kidding, great system.

  • hey is it good for movies ? I need to know planning to buy same as you except the rf 82 for me how good is for movies all youtube videos ar ewith music not movies want to know the surrounds and stuffthanks love klipsch

  • Did getting the XPA make a difference on how your receiver handles the surrounds? I am stuck between a xpa-2/xpa5 combo or just getting a xpa-3 for a 7.1 setup with the receiver doing the surrounds. What do you think?

  • @chrisdogmlb

It all depends on your setup. In my case, I like to consider the RMS power of the speakers I am driving (175W fronts, 200W center, 150W surrounds), so the XPA-2/XPA-3 made the best match in my opinion. This gives me enough power to drive them hard while at the same time, avoid any clipping.

  • What type of rear speaker stands do you have?

  • @mikeo55583

    VTI BLE101 Adjustable Speaker Stand (From 33 3/4" To 59" )

  • Hi,I was actually thinking about getting the Emotiva XPA-5 amp paired with my Reference Klipsch speakers but i was curious to know if you had noticed hissing coming from your speakers. As you may know the sensittivity rating is high which I think could causes hissing.Your help with this issue would be great, thanks.

  • @mikeo55583

No hissing whatsoever. At least not any that you'll hear even from sitting very close to the speakers. Which Reference model speakers do you have?

  • @digitall321

Thanks for the reply. It's good to know your not having any problems.

might bite the bullet and get the xpa-5 soon.I have the RF62's RC-10,and RB 10's.

  • thanks brother it's a relief now to know that thump won't damage my speakers

  • Comment removed

  • hey brother when u turn off the amp do u hear thump from speakers i have xpa-5 and whenever i turn off the amp i can hear thump from speakers is it normal will it damage my speakers

  • @manu4panjab

The slight thump is normal and won't damage your speakers. It happens to me on both the XPA-2 and XPA-3

  • me focus.

  • PETER GRIFFIN: HA HA HA HA HA HA AND THEN OTHER HA HA HA

  • Just one thing to be perfect ,,,PROJECTOR ,,,,,tv for that beautiful sound ,,,NO ,,my friend now the projectors are very nice ,,1080p for $1000 ,,,and that room is going to be perfect,,,,,

  • Only one sub--really?

  • This might be a dunb question but if i get the Xpa-3 will it hook up to my Yamaha Rx-v565 Reciever and what cords do i need. Thanks and one more question do you think it will sound better then the yamaha reciever. THANKS

  • @joshuaaaronpeet

Yes, but I looked at the Yamaha website for your receiver and it looks like it only outputs the front 2 channels, not all 7. So you'd only be able to connect 2 speakers to a separate Amp. Whether it sounds better depends on the speakers you are using and how much power they require.

  • @digitall321 so it wouldnt power the center? my front right/left speakers are the klipsch rb-61 and my center speaker is the klipsch rc-62 thanks for answering my first question

  • @joshuaaaronpeet

If you look at the backside of your receiver you will notice only 2 speaker outputs in the RCA format which I believe are right under the front speaker outputs. So no, it will not allow powering the center speaker through a separate amp as your receiver has no center channel output.

  • @digitall321 WOW MAN THTS A NICE SETUP THT WAS MY DREAM SETUP BUT KAN NOT AFFORD THE RF63 LINE SO I DECIDED TO GO WIT POLK RTI'A LINE =] IM BEARLY STARTING TO BUILD UP U SHULD CHEKK OUT MY VID AND WATCH MY PROGGRESS

  • everything is awesome.

  • Where'd you get that chrome thing to your XBox?

  • Digitall321, very nice equipment! But i notice that you dont have a power conditioner. Or did I miss that on your video. If you dont, consider buying one. It will improve your sound clarity alot. Also, do you ever try to put your center channel out side the cabinet? I know the set up maybe difficult but try it. I think you might like it better. Let me know!

  • @antoniusdenny

This is a rather old setup by now, I upgraded the Yamaha for an Integra DHC 9.9 Preamp, added a second Emotiva Amp (2 ch for the front towers) and yes I do have a line conditioner (Panamax M5300-PM).

At this point I don't have anywhere else to put the TV so I'd have to keep the center channel where it is for the time being.

  • thats some serious sound you got there bro i also have the yamaha receiver and i would have to agree that its fairly decent the next thing you need is some sound deadening materials like a nice rug and maybe some wall panels but overall great either way

  • You need a much bigger tv,or projector to get all that sound expirience. God choice in surround sound, strong amplifire.

  • @dukeheat

I replaced the 3800 with an Integra DHC 9.9 pre-amp, and used the XPA-2 for the fronts, and the XPA-3 for the center and rears. You can keep the 1900 as a preamplifier and perhaps get an XPA-5 to power them all. You won't need the Yamaha to power anything except another pair of speakers if decide on going 7.1.

  • Does that emotiva of yours improve sound quality at all? I'm looking into getting an amp for my system, if it improves sound quality. If not, I'll just stick with my receiver which offers enough power as it is. I just need to know if it is worth the investment.

  • Klipsch speakers are very efficient, but I think you'll easily notice the difference. There was clearly an audible improvement when I switched from my old "980W" RX-V3800, to the 600W emotiva (XPA-3), especially as the volume increases. I had the same concern as you until I just decided to go for it (and have never looked back). Since then I have replaced the Yamaha with a pre-amp, purchased an XPA-2 for the fronts, and used the XPA-3 for the center and surrounds.

  • @digitall321

AHHHHH! Very nice! I'll look into that then. Thanks man!

  • I didn't see a subwoofer as part of your setup so I'm guessing your RX-V1900 is also taking care of the bass running through your system. So if you were to upgrade to a separate amp, you'd probably notice a bigger difference than I did.

  • @digitall321

Yeah, I currently have only the RF-82s. I plan on getting the other pieces later. I notice at really high volumes, that my speakers get a bit bright. It's not that bad, but I can imagine the emotiva would improve that when I'm cranking them up. You mentioned you replaced your 3800 for the emotiva and then bought another emotiva for your surrounds, but could I keep my receiver and still use an emotiva for biamping? Would it improve as much compared to replacing?

  • you need carpeting and room treatments to reduce reflections and echo, nice equipment otherwise - enjoy

  • can you tell me what kind of tv stand you are using, where you got it, and how much. I've been looking all over for a tv stand that can hold my RC7 center channel. Thanks.

  • @rvuong02

I have the Synergy from Salamander Designs. They have great lineup of quality products. I believe my stand goes for around $900 with no added accessories. If you go to their website, you'll see the stands can even be modified to your taste. For example you can have one side utilize rack mounts or you can turn it into a drawer...

  • That Klipsch Center is BEAST!

  • Love your sub btw, i am thinking of buying one to put on top of my PB13 ultra just for some more "horsekick-punch".

Have you tested your sub up against any Svs woofers?

  • @Andreaszzz84

I don't think mix-matching subwoofers is the best thing to do. You might just want to go for another PB13 which is an excellent sub.

  • Hi, i have the same center and front speakers as you have, and they are awesome i can tell! Only difference is that i have the Yamaha rx-v1800 receiver, a Svs PB13 ultra subwoofer and some small crappy CV bookshelf speakers as surrounds.

But one thing i have to say is that you REALLY NEED som acoustic treatment in that room! I moved my system from the livingroom where i had all sorts of echoes, to a smaller room where i have no echoes. And it sounds more realistic and awesome now! :D

  • @Andreaszzz84

I've looked at the SVS you have, but considering my RT is doing a pretty good job of rattling the house, I'll stick with it for now.

  • did you calibrate your speaker using the YPAO mic?

    and any comment about YPAO?

    thanks!

  • @donovane100

I use YPAO but usually tweak the results a bit more to my taste. But the feature really is great and works pretty well. It manages to determine exactly how far the speakers are from my "sweet spot" and can greatly improve imaging in just about any room. Apart from distance, it calibrates many other parameters as you've probably read. It's not 100% accurate but it is just enough to provide very similar results each time you run it without making any changes to the room.

  • thanks!

how about setting the bass out from the receiver for the subwoofer do you set as front+sub or sub only then set all the speakers into small so that all the bass is going to the sub. which is better from your experience?

    thanks again!

  • @donovane100

I set the receiver to have everything below 80Hz come solely from the subwoofer. There's no need to have the fronts attempting to reproduce what the subwoofer can very easily. The fronts are set to small as this isn't really trying to determine the size of your speakers, but the range of frequencies (low) they are to reproduce or send to the subwoofer.

  • acoustical panels are needed in that room ( as you have been told ) ...and the one thing that sticks out ( to me ) is that you turn the system on and had music playing at a pretty good volume, you honestly should let equipment warm up and gradually increase volume ( good for the speakers and amp).

  • @riley804

The panels are something I'm definitely considering. And the reason the music was already playing is because I had been listening to music for a couple of hours.

Normally when the system is powered on, there is no sound output until a source is started. And thank you for the advice but I am already aware of this, so I don't get anywhere near high volumes until it's had time to warm up.

BTW the volume really wasn't as loud as it seemed on the video and much has changed since then.

  • It's not THAT loud. Power increases with roughly the cube of loudness, so it's not playing with much power

  • Wow, that awesome. Im definitely planning on getting the klipsch RF83's are maybe Polks LSI 15's. My sub of choice though is the supercube trinity for. Its an awesome subwoofer. 128db at 20HZ! =O I kid you not!

If you dont have any furnishings in your room, it will sound like an empty gymnasium (on a smaller scale of course) No worries for me though, ive got a huge recliner that sponges up the whole room for me. =P

  • Thanks for the advice. I recently did add a few things to the room including an area rug. I wasn't expecting to hear a difference so it just kinda hit me the next time i sat and listened to some old favorites.

  • nice set up you got there.... all you need now is room treatments to ....from what i can hear your room is a very reflective space place a rug some books etc. you wont regret it cheers

  • love the music..

    GET DOWN AND BOOGY!!!

  • thanks awesome setup!!! enjoy it!

  • hello what kind of stands do you have for the klipsch rs-62

  • VTI BLE101B

  • Awesome setup!, so what´s your feeling about the Emotiva? I know it´s powerful but what about SQ? any humming issues?, are you feeding the surrounds with the Yamaha? Thanx a lot for sharing!

  • Sound quality is just awesome. I never noticed how good the speakers where at high volumes until I got the emotiva amp. Receiver power just wasn't enough. There are absolutely no humming issues or anything alike, even though I have a mess of wires behind the cabinet, but it may also have something to do with the Panamax line conditioner which keeps all banks isolated from one another. And yes the surrounds are much easier to handle so they are being fed by the receiver.

  • Thanx a lot digitall321, I guess I needed some hands-on reassurance!.. I think now I´m free to become an Emotiva owner :)

  • Beverly Hills Cop :D

  • Nice system, but it didn't sound that great on video. Might of been your mic on that camera.

  • Maybe the combination of his camer mic and your speakers? xD

  • what a system
