  • This is the best one I have seen, you have done a fine job of construction here. Looks like a lot of torque and usable power.

  • How much HP do you think you might achieve with this?

    Very attractive work.

  • Beautiful engine!

  • that stirling runs good...i like the job you did!..i am thinking about building a big one like that....23" diameter piston or bigger if i can find a container....i like to use scrap material and experiment with things...keep up the good work...

  • @railrdr523 we are bastards, thats why :)

  • very cool

  • this is so cool... how much power it has?

  • @vaidotas86 I did not make any measurements. I lost interest in this engine because I am building even bigger at the moment.

  • @hdkivela2 you have one more subscriber... make video then finish

  • can someone explain to me what the regnerator does? i keep seeing it mentioned but what does it do?

  • Regenerator stores heat when gas flows from hot end to cool end. Gas will be pre heated when it flows back to the heater. It improves engine efficiency, a lot. Economizer as Robert (Stirling) called it.

  • @hdkivela2 I cant help but wonder doesn't the regenerator kinda cancel itself out somehow? i mean it works by air expandtion and contraction. if the air is pre-expanded or the opposite before it enters the cylinder, wouldnt that be pointless?

PS: i haven't build a stirling yet but i've given it a lot of thought

  • I'm a little confused.....why such low rpm's? made up for by torque? and cmon man lets go green already and power that thing with the sun. and all those that run off of the sun....why is the heated element not a large chunk of copper that would retain the heat for as long as the sun would be down...

  • Yes you can use sun, why not. If you have it! Here in Finland at this moment we have -20C and no sun... Low rpm is for silent operation. If you are running stirling in your living room furnace, I think you don't want to listen any noise from it:)

  • Thanks, very interesting!

    Good luck!

    Richard

  • Nice job. It would be interesting to see it do some kind of work when it's done.

  • I like the big scale, nice to see an industrial sized model! Looking forward to more posts!

  • very cool
