well, i can try, but i'm not a native speaker in english and so my translation may have some misetakes:

in the nigth befor the 25th april 1974 the catholic broadcast in lisabon played a song: grandola, vila morena. it was the sign agreed on to the beginning of the movement of the armed forces and the begining of the end of fascism in portugal. since this time, a democratic and socialistic society is build there. grandola vina morena became the song of the portuguese revolution.
