I remember John visiting Philly when I was a kid. I was too young to go down there and meet him, but I had WFIL tuned in day and night while he was here. Larry Kane was with WFIL/Channel 6 'Action News' back then.
I was there that day and me and a buddy were around the back of the building for some reason and a door opened and Lennon came out. My friend who was a big Beatles fan freaked and was trying to take a pic of him and dropped his cam and this woman starts yelling at him... "Thats property of (what ever record label)" grabbed his camera and wouldn't give it back to him. Flip Wilson was also at this thing and we saw him drive in. He was driving a Rolls. I think i was 17
I thought the newsman was young Tom Snyder, but "yougotsanford" says the announcer's name is Larry Kane, so, never having seen him 'til now, I'll have to go with "sanford." I believe Tom Snyder did get his early start in Philadelphia, working the news beat with David (brainfreeze!), who later became famous as a comedian, and subbed a time or two for Johnny Carson.
I was there with John and the Boss Chicks for the weekend. Took calls for 3 days, partied and had a ball ..in many ways..I had 10 copies of the "Mind Games" 45 he was giving away..that was when our country was trying to depoer him & yoko ...what a great time that was...ever see 5 chicks cover 1 guy? Wheres those Boss chicks now ?
I met John at a WFIL 'meet & greet' outside the studio where he autographed my bootleg 'Live In Japan' LP...he was very interested in too...then I asked if he wanted to jam with my high school band and he said 'me record company wouldn't like that' all you need is love to give peace a chance...J.O.L. R.I.P.
No. It's Larry Kane, who anchored the weeknight newscasts on WPVI, WCAU and KYW here in Philadelphia.
P.S. Will the post of this video add tags to this clip "action news wfil wpvi channel 6 philadelphia", considering this video contains behind the scenes footage of Channel 6 Action News? Thank you!
He introduces Otis Reading's "Sittin' on the dock of the bay". Wouldn't be cool listening him performing that?

It's like every moment of John Lennon's life was caught on camera. It;s great watching it. He was truely amazing in my opinion.

If that was "a very young Larry King", I think we would have been looking at a Town Crier ringing a bell shouting "Hear Ye, Hear Ye!"
