I have been doing liquid popping for 5 years but I cant have the rapid movements still like you do...you are one of the best synchronized one I have ever seen with the beat and the fluid movement of your fingers and arms.....
I think I've rewound that laser-hide routine on 2:50 at least a few thousand times by now since the video hit the net. LP, together with breakdance are the two only dances that express music physically to such high extent. In my opinion :)
@noiz87 dude i think all his fans have done the same. i used to just replay that all the time hahah. not big on breakdance but liquid is my shit for sure. keepin part of the old school scene alive piece by piece.
@ThizzMonkey420 And you get big props from me for doing so. We gotta bash these new "dancers" to the ground. I've seen more shittier dances in the past few years than on the worst hillbilly wedding in the middle of nowhere.
@noiz87 Yea man for damn sure! This shuffling trend needs to go. And I hate that everyone is getting into it. I straight get mad at my friends when they pull that bullshit in front of me. Its an emotionless and pathetic dance. Theres no creativity involved so everyone looks the same. just some people can go faster or randomly touch themselves somewhere on their body during some bass hit while doing it. Im glad some of the popular glovers and bringing digits back. Even if they dont really kno it.
@ThizzMonkey420 Yeah, it's a sore sight seeing all those.. didn't even bother remembering the names of those "styles", too many of them, none come close to expressing oneself. I've just finished watching Tron again, and the last line of the movie is somehow bitter and quite real "Well hello, programs". Folks programmed themselves into believing all the shuffling and ___stepping is awesome, impressive and worth learning. Just because they're too lazy to go the extra mile and get to where Eric was
@noiz87 agree 100% brother. takes crazy dedication to get to that point. and this other stuff takes a couple weeks to get down and suddenly youre a star with a circle at a party because youre feet can move backwards while the other one hangs in the air AND.... and, heres the best part... you grab your hat, all at the same time.
Too bad I didn't know there was so much hooplah over the track names. I knew the names of the first two tracks... it was the third track I could never figure out. The first track I got on a comp cd like 10 years ago. ^_^
reminds me of my old roommate...tall and thin, same type of moves, I remember watching him dance at the clubs and basically people were in awe...he had cool moves like dribbling a basketball, putting on makeup, dropping down to the floor on his back all of a sudden and then acting like he is pulling himself back up by a rope, pulling himself up to people like he was on a rope, etc... man those were some good times...
Is Liquid 'dated' as a dance type, considering this clip is nearly TEN YEARS old!??
Or is it still fresh, because the 2000's have basically been & are still SHITE!!, with nothing new coming out that is revolutionary, & now real evolution.
ya Xoio Liquid is still very real..or least i'm hopin ppl are still doin it. i've been doin it for 8 years and TRYING my very hardest to get ppl to join me lol
Well, I was a raver for 6 years from 1994 to 2000.
I can honestly say, that the way this guy Eric is dancing, is the way people could dance back in the day, in a rave in Toronto until about 2000.
Before I went to raves, I did not think white people could dance. But when you went to a rave, the type of people who would go, allowed for full expression of self without giving a shit.
The scene got too big, too fast.
Now when I go out, when I dance I feel like I am dancing the charleston.
I use to hang at Ruby Skye in SF, Ibiza in Oakland, Space 550, Mission Rock and a million other places and I can attest to the dance art forms that existed, the music (house, hip hop, drum and bass, break beat) and really great people. Never ran in to any "frat guys" but did hang with SEALS, Marine Force RECONS and hard core locals from Chinatown and Oakland. I think it depends on the party and the DJ.
well, innovate then. don't know where you are but where i am it's what we create, not what's served up to us that makes things so good. we keep taking it to a higher level, evolving, etc. some things have passed by, like burning man - good luck getting the spirit of how it came up b/c it's disneyland for adults and has been for many years. link up w/ community and be positive. this guy has moves, old clip or not. like the bumper sticker says"be the change you want to see"
I am doing liquid popping too. Well, kinda mixed in with robot, so it's not pure liquid. I'm good, but there's more moves that I can definately learn.
I LOVE LIQUID, i need to post a video of myself and get everyones opinion.....i think im pretty dam after ravin for 8 months straight...but eric inspired me to learn liquid, ive watched this video so many times now lol
~~~~~Old skool Philly ravers??~~~~~~ Does anyone remember this venue?? It was said that this was filmed in Motion/Space off of Front street... but i partyed for years in that place and dont remember an arcade or spray paint on the walls. Only part I wasn't in was the 21 and over section. Is this it?? It doesn't look like Space at all to me..
The third part of the video was filmed out back of space in a huge tent they set up. It was for the opening party call PANGEA. Dubtribe Sound System was doing a live PA while i was dancing.
Damn.. I didnt know all that went down upstairs.. I was really missin out. Too bad this venue is still just sittin vacant.. haha, you can still see the old triangle paint job from 95. It takes me back every time. Well thanks for the reply E, best of luck with ya brother.
NO-NO-NO-!!!!!!!! This was not liquid dancing. It was much more fluid involving your arms and legs. dude the sad part is, is that no one really know who is in this video.. i had people tell me they shot the video (a girl). i had someone tell me that a guy shot the video.. i dunno who it is... but this guy.. i doubt no one is the whole world is as good as this! his style is... just i dunno crazy insane.
Well, if you think about it, the video was recorded in March 99 (as you can see on the screen) and since Sly-Ed came out in 2000, so I'm not so sure it's got much to do with it now.
OK boys and girls. More info. as to the song. Check out "Man With No Name", CD title is "Teleportation",
released in 2000 on Dragonfly Recordings/Cyberset LLC., 9 total tracks. There are a several remixes of "Sly-Ed" on the CD. One of the remixes is called "Lion King", sounds like a close match. I am begining to think that what we are hearing on the video is a DJ remix of "Sly-Ed". Simple as that. Comments? Peace.
Watching this guy on the Liquid Pop Collective dancing to "Edens Transmission" is what got me started back in high school killin it at the school dances...and i havent stopped since. This is a classic but i wish i could find the mystery song...
Find out who dj'd that party ( if there were DJs) and you can figure out the songs maybe. But that can be alittle daunting.Perhaps someone who works at the club remembers...
well pickin' up on UFO said above I did a deep dive into GOA trance. I found a track that sounds very very close. It is, "Sly-Ed" from "A voyage into trance mixed by Paul Oakenfeld". Not 100% sure but the first half or so of the track sounds like whats being played in the arcade cut. If not, fuck it. I'm done.
ufo1216, I googled "goa trance", nothing. Wikipedia does have some cool links with samples of goa trance music made around the time this video was made, '98 and '99. it is not just the hands (which pieces together the composition of illusion)...this all over body ebb that runs like water...wonderful display of our 75% body composition that is human! h2o
Eric- If you are amongst us, we humble earthlings, we beseech you in the name of all that is holy and give thanks to the Gods for your dancing ability. We ask only that you share with us the name of the song that was played while you were dancing in the arcade clip.
Have mercy on us. We ask only this simple request in your name and that of the dance Gods. What is the name of the song in the arcade clip?
Can someone please, please in plain english tell us all once and for all what the names of the songs and the artists are on this video clips? The entire free world would be forever greatful. Peace.
Hi Eric, its Marke(silly brown junglist chick),Alani's friend, how the hell are you?? good to know you're still kickin it. Note to people viewing this clip, THIS CAT IS LIKE A HUMAN LAVA LAMP I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF VIEWING HIS SKILLS PERSONALLY AND I CAN'T THINK OF ONE MAN WHO COULD DO IT BETTER, PURE SICKNESS, AND THIS WAS LIKE 5-6 YEARS AGO. Eric your a genius I really miss your eye popping entertainment.(no pun intended, ok maybe just a little) Marke
It's 808 state actually Ufo. And if anyone wants to know this song I suggest you spam the video link to various electronic music forums and see if you can get any replies because SOMEONE must know who did it. Then report back, lol.
Eric- If you are amongst us, we humble earthlings, we beseech you in the name of all that is holy and give thanks to the Gods for your dancing ability. We ask only that you share with us the name of the song that was played while you were dancing in the arcade clip.
Have mercy on us. We ask only this simple request in your name and that of the dance Gods. What is the name of the song in the arcade clip?
With our most humble thanks and prayers,
The Human Race
It's 808 state actually Ufo. And if anyone wants to know this song I suggest you spam the video link to various electronic music forums and see if you can get any replies because SOMEONE must know who did it. Then report back, lol.
I saw this before, and strangely though when my friend muted the track and played Satisfaction instead
