Its sampling equipment is not sensitive to sequences where all pictures generated a 3D, the system responds that the group does not contain three-dimensional photographs and that's not true.
Oh it actually does it by itself, i thought you had t take photos. then upload them and place the camera in the program etc.. wow amazing thing. downloading now.. the more photos the better of course.
The emergence of 3D camera has enabled a more precise way of modeling. Especially HTC and LG cell phones have equipped with these cameras. It would be fascinating to see the support of 3D images.
ok, will try. Good for architects since 3D laser scanner is incredibly expensive. Just hope its modeling quality is as good as that produced by laser scanner.
Hi, the ruler is not needed at all actually. It is there to establish scene scale which can be accomplished within 123D Catch. Not needed for this lesson though.
i have a photo loop of a statue . the first 3 photos are so clean and solid but unable to stich and have exclamation mark on them . the weather was cloudy when i took the photos . is this the reason ?
I've tried this twice now. I take 30-40 pictures of a single object. I upload them all and the then the project file that gets kicked back to me, only has the camera data, and no 3D model. I can see all my camera shots in 3D space, but there is not a 3D mesh created. All the tutorials I see show the 3D object immediately there after Autodesk processes. Can anyone shed some light? Also, is there a Mac version of this software?
@cpramuk Thank you for the great idea, but I figured out the problem. I was running 123D Catch on Parallels for Mac. I think there was some issue with Parallels and my video card causing the image to simply not show up. So, I installed 123D Catch on my Mac's Boot Camp Windows 7, and that corrected the problem. Hope this info helps others that want to use 123D Catch on a Mac.
Ok, Basically there is one thing I HATE about this software. Why do you have to upload your files, really not cool, I would rather develop this myself than have my files in the hands of a big business, espicially autodesk. I would rather wait a long time for my computer to calculate than upload my files. when is the professional version released because this is merely a toy
I half assed a try with 20 or so pictures and it came out VERY well... the program is insanely easy to use. The one thing I would like to see come out on the final product would be camera calibration to correct for radial distortion, similar to iwitness.
@Dri0m my upload speed isn't the issue. Uploading Project Data is 100% in less than a minute for 40mb. It takes about 2 minutes to get 71% of Creating Scene process and then it freezes. So the whole operation is wothless. I tried 3 times with different size of photos but it's not working anymore. And trust me - my pohotos are made much more precisely than example in this sucky tutorial.
@JamesGehrig Click "create new photo scene" then select your pictures. I have no clue how you are struggling so much... this has to be the easiest to use program I've ever seen.
@bgconstrukt I'll make a couple of them and then stick them somewhere for you, you arrogant mf.
I'm telling you. the file that downloaded from their site was not the 123dcatch it was the modeling program. 400 some megabytes and no interface for photos. Went back to the SAME download today and it is an 80 meg file that actually says 123d
Catch. So ... mr. smart ass.. YOU go make some snow turds..
The whole process freezes at 20% and for example now at 71%. What a waste of time. I don't even know what I'm doing wrong if that's the case... Please take my advice:
1. Make this shit work properly.
2. Make it offline
3. Give me tools
... and I will buy it instantly. For now it's worthless. Skipping and looking for alternative...
I really like the concept but I hate the execution. Let's say that I can handle that online-only option. But where are the tools? I can't fix anything and I have no chance to predict is everything as it should be. So I have to spend a huge ammount of time to achieve acceptable effect. The program very often dismiss some random photos with no logical reason and sometimes even all of them. I'm waiting about half-hour to get nothing. This is some serious missunderstanding.
There are a number of issues to solve for with measurement from photographs, including lens distortion, focal length and dealing with photographs from multiple camera's of varying focus, zoom and distance from the subject, most of which have to be calibrated for each individual camera, focus and zoom setting, to achieve accurate results. Lens stability and in some circumstances, image sharpening can have effect on results.
I’m more concerned with accuracy of the model. There appears to be no user control or any other indication of accuracy. I am a professionally qualified surveyor and use a number of accurate and precise measuring techniques, including conventional total station surveying, GNSS, 3d scanning and photogrammetry.
While some are raving about simplicity of use and others are complaining about having to use the cloud to compute models and based on first impressions this cloud appears to have a silver lining, there are more serious matters to be considered
Ahah heavy computation, don't be silly. Everyone working in the field is used to spend days and nights rendering or calculating physical solutions. And now in the era of multi-gpu-hyper-accelerated-everything you are trying to sell your cloud service. Just give me a break! At least try to say it's just for testing purpose, piracy, selling your 12-6-3-1 month update. But please be honest to those who have made you what you are now. If you are moving to remote sw just say it early so we can leave.
@DanFrederiksen I agree, it is stupid that there is no offline option, but keep in mind that this is still in beta. It is nice to have the cloud computing option for people that don't have very powerful computers. It is much simpler to have their powerful processors handle the task and spit the result back out than to have a single or dual core low power cpu try to manage the task on its own.

@lllroropo Hi, here's some things to try:
-make sure your paths in your directory are in English. Some have had the same problem if there were Russian or Chinese characters.
-if the previous is fine, also try disabling your antivirus
Does that help?

why is it necessary to upload the photos with no option to process locally? are desktop computers not powerful enough to do the same thing?

So can these projects be imported into a .dxf or .dwg? If so this could be very useful!

@kydbmaster
yes, there are several export formats. For the model, use obj or fbx (fbx has the cameras).

Is the transparency slider on in the display settings? Try the display settings on the right of the toolbar, there is a slider.

Great program. It has lots of potential to be something huge. Autodesk is the #1 3D modelling company imo.
