  • I actually like both versions. My preference leans towards Faye Wong, but this version is also sweet and tenderly sung. This is a more happy version i think, like this version would be played when you finally confessed to the person you love, and they love you back. Faye's version would be like the longing and desire for the person who doesn't know her feelings yet :3. That's just my humble opinion anyway :3.

  • Just listened the original one time... When i beat up 8. So i don't remember how its sound. But i really like this one! Angela is simply amazing!

BTW she's the prettiest Troll that i have ever gaze upon! Wearing like that for an orchestra... XDDDD

  • original Fay's version vs Aki's version = Chinese vs Japanese .. lol

  • 流石発音は本家より完璧だな

  • ちょい早すぎ。このテンポでは正直聞きづらい。雰囲気が死んでる。。

  • I cant say I dont like to listenn this version more... Why? because I always pictured eyes on me in this style. Julia is a singer in game who sung in a bar and piano is only instrument that she sung with. its far more suited for eyes on me than fays version. Even thought both versions are great.

  • I like the style she sings it in, but I love Faye Wong's, too! It's almost too hard to choose, but I think I prefer Faye Wongs. But man, this is really catchy! :D

  • like angela's vocal more, but faye's melodies more

  • nice song and voice

  • Angela Aki, to me, is a better singer. But Faye Wong's voice is more suited to this particular song IMO

  • Well guys, if anyone says that the original is better, I suggest you to hear Faye Wong in Live (if you find the one that is not in playback, of course XD ), then listen to this version... Angela Aki is defenetly a better singer then Faye Wong...

The original studio version is wonderful, but for me, maybe because I'm a musician, the live part counts more then the studio one, with no programs covering your ass, just you and your voice... or well, at least is what I think, just my opinion ^^

  • Hmm.. She changed this romantic song to another style..

    Not so liked it :/

  • I love Angela Aki! But I don't know who's better because I loved both versions!

  • I don't doubt her ability at all, but I don't like the spin put onto the song.

Sounds like she's more suited for higher tempo songs.

  • omg im inlove with her. Amazing song...

  • She's pertty.....I always say that.....

  • Her version of this song is 1,000 miles better than faye wong's

  • do you all think that ur a muical wonders? this is really gut

    -.-

i expectet more feeling from her but shes really gut

  • I dont like it.. For that song i would have expected something more emotional.. She has a good voice yes but its just not right for THAT song =(

  • plus for her that's she's the one playing the piano

  • lets just say, they are both good.

  • Angela has made a really good version of this song ^^

I'ts so less romantic than the version of Faye... XD

  • I'm sorry guys, but I just don't like this version, she's got a good voice, but it doesn't sound good in this song

  • in my personal opinion, i feel dat faye wong's version is way better dan angela's

  • Faye Wong is really better than Angela -_-

  • Who cares!

Nerds unite! This is a great song sang beautifully by both women!

    Go Angela and Faye!

  • i like the slower version better...

  • her accentuates are weird. like stressing weirdly on the words. but she's good i guess. her's is more innocent-like, as compared to faye's more romantic version

  • Retards... Angela Aki is just singing a song. Do we have to think of ff8 instead of enjoying the song without thinking anything at all? Aren't you all saying that you all like this song because it was in the ff8? So this song wouldn't be good if you all haven't heard it in ff8?

  • I'm very happy to know the Angela Aki haters haven't commented recently (*Cough*mnm213*cough*), as I think Angela rocks. They're just trying to pick out tiny points in her performance.

Whilst, yes, some people also enjoy Faye Wong, it doesn't mean the fans have to war out on each other.

  • I love Angela and I think she has made a excelent work with this. Maybe she doesn't have the clothes for that performance but is her style! I think this version is better than the one of Faye Wong... Why?, simple, remember that this song is written by Julia to Laguna Loire, and she play the piano and sang, so... this version is more like Julia that the one of Faye Wong. I love you Angela! You're the best!

  • if you guys think this one is better play ff8 all over and think again..

  • Well, at least she is the singer for ff12's theme song..if i'm not mistaken..the title is "Kiss Me Goodbye"

  • this version is good! her voice is richer ... but she looks like a drug addict! am sorry does she go to concerts like this!!

  • Really classy if you ask me I like both of the versions, but this is my definite fav.

God this is getting annoying people calling Angela Aki a bitch since she did another version of "Eyes on Me" or cause they don't like it.

  • technically she is good, but it just doesnt match the mood, look at the ending of FFVIII and listen carefully agian.

  • that's bilingual/piano/voice talent right there.

    jeez, who woulda known?

  • beautiful such a powerful voice

every one of hers songs that iv come across are very good

  • But hey, don't call her names. She picked the song because she must have loved the one Faye sang don't you think?

Would you like to do a cover of a music that you like, and have people criticize your work, and calling you names? Problably you wouldn't like it. So you can say that the other version is better, but please don't call her names, she's doing her best!

  • I like it, really x3

Faye's version is also good, but I prefer Aki-san's version

    But hey, it's my opinion

  • She has butchered such an amazing song. Bitch.

  • IM TOTALLY WITH YOU MAN!!!!!

  • Would be better if she doesn't produce that cry-like tone when she sings some of the parts.

  • it 'd be better if angela make it more mellow, her voice is too strong for such a melody like this.

  • I never liked the concept that if you like one person more than the other, you are required to bash the other.

I think they're both good. Then again i'm biased toward Angela,

  • I prefer Faye's one.

There's a reason why Nobuo Uematsu CHOSE Faye for the song.

  • I like both versions

  • Yeah, me to. I think they're both great. Even though they both have a different "feeling," I still enjoy both and admire both of the versions good qualities.

  • I dont like Angela's Version, Faye's is better, now you wonder why Faye Wong looks a little mad when she sings "Eyes On Me" in a concert. She is probably thinking how everyone thinks Angela's Version is better, (which isnt cause she sounds like crap).

  • She's as good as Faye wong. This is Angela's version,I still like it.

  • NICE MOUTH LOLZX !! XD

  • she ruined the elegance of the song, made it jazzy

  • it sounds so western.

  • I love this version much better than Fayes....you can understand Anela's enlish...Fayes is good too though

  • Great voice but I think its sung too fast. I still love Fayes version much better.

  • They wre both good ^-^

  • Nothing beats Faye Wong I have to say, but this was really good ^^

  • faye wong version is the most popular one. this song actually has a story behide it. and i think faye's version fits the story better.

  • great song , different version actually but loved it :) FFVIII is great too!

  • faye wong is much better. whoever this is, is good too tho. this lady rushes the words too much, not the right flow.

  • this girl was on tv! she said she plays piano at least 8 hours a day! i cant even stand playin piano more than 3 hrs a day!

  • Most people Like Faye Wong's version. But i like this better. She has such a nice voice

  • hmmmm its interesting. has a nice beat but i think faye wong sings it better

  • I like Angela... she's great. But her version of this song is too fast... just my opinion

  • I love Faye wong but I like Angela Aki's version way better... ALot

  • My favorite video game song next to One Winged Angel and Dancing Mad <333 She did a great job.

  • she's good and the arrangement is musically interesting, but nothing beats the original.

  • She voice is great. But me more like Faye Wong sing this song ....

  • Please stop being so critical of Angela Aki. She gave a damn good performance. She and Faye Wong are very gifted singers and I love both versions of this song. Rock on Angela! ^.^

  • Seems so silly comparing a live song with a recorded one since the recorded one usually get polished up with computers while live is live. Futhermore, the singer gets help by the song director and usually have to sing several parts of the song over and over again. Once that is done, the editor reconstructs the song.

  • Both versions are excellent - this one seems a bit more 'Western', more towards what we think of 'power ballads' If only somebody did this as an album track, I would think Christina Aguilera would do a job of this song

  • this version sucks. faye is much better!

  • i prefer the original, this is still good but not as good in my opinion

  • So beautiful <3

  • I prefer Angela's better since it is less somber than Faye's. Faye's voice seems to crack up when she sings parts of the song. For example, you can hear her voice cracks up a bit when she says "Darling," "when I am there for you," and "When it come to y-you."

  • the style is great. anyway, entertainers are there to entertain the crowd. how many people in this world know about vibrato/breathing technique/staccato/etc? what matters most is the overall feel of the whole performance in my opinion.

  • the voice is great but the way she modified the song isn't as good as the original

  • oh my god meekah thanks for starting a controversy. You just HAD to say that this version was better... (cough Faye Wong was better)

  • Hi Mishimoto. I'm not trying to make anyone "like" Faye. But if you have studied music and voice before (like I have) it's pretty easy to recognize vocalists who are singing "properly". I'm merely giving my learned opinion about what is good about Faye's vocals. I'm also not saying Angela "sucks" I'm just pointing out her unpolished vocals. :)

  • Rando, I'd also like to invite you to view my favorited videos. You may not "like" them, but you cannot deny that Faye Wong has great vocal techinque. I myself am always amazed by her transitions between vocal registers, her projection from the diaphragm, her breath control, the proper use of her head voice, her good pitch and her phrasing. I also admire how she handles herself when she makes mistakes, because yes, no one is ever perfect all the time. Happy viewing

  • Woooah, hey, if she says Faye sucks but Angela rocks nothing you're gonna say is gonna change her mind. Vise Versa; if she like's Faye and thinks Angela sucks it's her oppinion.

I like Angela's version better than Faye's because her english is clearer -- BUT I like Faye's better because of the tune.

Man, you guys are getting nasty over nothing. Nothing either of you say is gonna change the other person's mind so just STOP. O_o

  • I don't think so, check out the live versions of Faye's Eyes On Me on youtube. Much better. The phrasing, vibrato, breathing are all superior to Angela. Also, English is Faye's third language; I think it's impressive that she sings EOM at all. Also, are you crazy? Faye's live singing isn't good. Check out some live clips on youtube. Also, her '94 concert CD... FLAWLESS vocals.

  • if you ever hear faye wong in live, she sucks. I've been to a concert of hers and she sings terribly live. If you want to compare recorded versions between the two, then your statement is perfectly legitimate. But if you want to compare faye's "live" version to this live version, Angela is superior.

  • You can absolutely like this one better than the original. But to say that it's better? Forget it. The vocals in the original are much better. Faye Wong's subtle use of an even vibrato, changing the texture of her voice, employing the use of a bel canto technique, use of the head voice, breath control, emoting the feeling of the song based on the story. In terms of vocals, Faye's is superior. Don't mistake personal preference for "superiority".

  • yah... i agree... faye wong's version was nicer and she changed the words here...

  • You mkae a good point, there is more to singing than having a great voice and a skilled vibrato; expressions and emulating the feeling of the song do a great deal, even if a lot of people won't notice.
