This is one of my very favorite renditions of this piece, the tempo is good, the balance is good, and there are so few technical flaws. Ashkenazy is amazing, and he showcases his monstrous ability in this piece.
most true that this version and barenboim's are the best...in my opinion atleast... kempff also does a wonderful job in playing it, a slow and beautiful version...try out vladimir horowitz and glenn gould versions...horowitz is very unique, far from what we've heard usually...glenn gould runs through the piece like an aircraft...both are great...
i consider that Vladimir Ashkenazy plays the 3rd movement of the moonlight sonata the best with the exception of Daniel Barenboim those are the 2 who play it best
I think that this is one of the best interpretations of this sonata. I don´t speak english very well, so I con´t express my self very well, but I haven´t listen such a good intepretation in a long time :)

Finely dramatised playing yet he does'nt excite as much as Rubinstein in this mvt.

@satyu131089 Nah, I don't like Barenboim's version. Rubinstein is very good in my opinion, especially 3rd movement.

@satyu131089 i think Claudio Arrau makes a excellent version too...

Bad recording. There's an echo.
Can't even tell how the interpretation was.

Fool, how would you expect to judge and interpretation from a highly compressed audio track like this?
michelecant 3 years ago
Are you kidding me? I said bad recording, not bad playing.
People here are idiots...
Minus four? I didn't say I didn't Ashkenazy's playing! I said I couldn't tell because the audio was so bad!
