  • Empty tanks + zero payload = short takeoff.

  • @fortyninepages No way? Really? Thanks for clearing that up for us.

  • god i love that plane

  • beautiful machine and I dont even have a likling for planes aha!

  • i thought he was just going to fall right down

  • fale

  • Most of the "armchair experts" that comment on you tube videos are just full of air. They probably could not find their butts even if they were having projectile dieaareeeahhhh! (and probably have never flown even a paper airplane or been out of their parents basement)

  • empty

  • @MrSistermaryelephant Really????? I would have thought they would have loaded it up with tons of cargo. Duh!!!!!

  • @MrSistermaryelephant u dope! its pretty obvious!

  • @MrSistermaryelephant and without tthe wings!

  • one big bird

  • to be honest i feel like nobody hear should be arguing as none of you know anything about it, except the guy that made the vid.

  • That thing looks SO unweildy...I like my LEGO one better.

  • some people thnk this isnt real but it really is cause i have seen it in person its pretty amazing how that thing gets into the air so fast

  • Loved flying in these in Iraq.

  • and the crowd goes wild!!!!

  • Yeah

If that thing had cargo then it would have taken longer to get lift

  • nice , must not have cargo load .

  • fuckin brilliant.

  • that thing is HUGE

  • @AfroNinja720 I get the same response from the ladies.

  • is this march ARB? ive driven by there a few times :)

  • might have to get a canon 7d that's good quality footage

  • I love how c17 looks..

  • The C-17 Globemaster 3 can stop in approx 1100 feet and take of in approx 1200.

  • Oh cool

  • I'm not all that concerned with turn clearance and runway markings. But, I AM impressed with the video quality and the camera work that captured perfectly the awesome beauty and aggressiveness of this incredible aircraft.

  • Why would you measure takeoff distance with Google Earth? Why not look at the boards or the runway markings?

Why did he turn before 400 FT AGL?

  • @jakes77564 To answer your questions:

    1. It seemed a lot easier to use Google Earth rather than drive back down to the airport and count marks on the runway.

    2. You'd have to ask the pilot to be sure ... but my guess as to his answer would be either "because I wanted to" or "the same reason a dog licks his own balls ... because I can"

Thanks for asking such important compelling questions

  • @AllenRockwell 1. Yeah but it would be more ACCURATE to use the runway markings. Considering you have to subtract 250 feet from the distance of the runway for taxi and lineup penalties it could have been SHORTER than you are calling it by several hundred feet.

    2. "because I wanted to" or "the same reason a dog licks his own balls... because I can" is not written anywhere in any AF flight manual. 400 FT AGL is.

  • @jakes77564 Sorry that my lack of accuracy has disappointed you so much.

If you attend a few air shows you will see that FARs and AF flight manuals can be overridden. I've seen military a/c perform turns and other maneuvers 50-100 feet off the ground. I'm not sure why you are so concerned with when and where this made his turn. I'm sure he had authorization from the FAA, the airport, the air boss and his command before executing the maneuver at this show. And, if not ... why so concerned

  • @AllenRockwell Never been to Thermal. Thought there might be an obstruction.

  • @AllenRockwell It was a combat takeoff. If people are shooting at you, the LAST thing you want to do is keep climbing straight out at a constant rate.

  • @jyokid Yes, you are correct. That is what they were demonstrating that day .. as well as the tactical landing which is pretty much the opposite flight profile as the take off, you come in high, dive down and land fast.

  • @AllenRockwell hahahaha

  • @AllenRockwell Plus you might get run over..

  • @jakes77564 You sir, are a complete fucking retard. That is all.

  • @ZeusPanzer LMAOO!

  • @jakes77564 because theres no restriction saying you have to attain 400 AGL before you turn, just have to have min maneuvering speed for the flap setting to make the turn

  • @jakes77564 Why not whip out a TAC or Sectional...?

  • @jakes77564 Knobhead

  • 400 AGL is an IFR requirement that does not apply on a tactical departure. "Flight manual" is a vague reference that does not apply to any particular publication.

  • seems to be a issue with the comments as well, the tube is full of bugs lately, sad as it used to work so well, this is my third attempt to lay a comment here

  • short and sweet in more ways than one

  • What lens?

  • Wow that airplane is a monster.

  • @oconano oh you're fucker

  • @pokos57 huh?

  • Awesome!
