There were two polls held a week or so ago, on two different sites, and one of them said most of the public unapproved of him, the other showed that his rating was healthy. You're right; the health care issue is what seems to make that second poll more legit, since the opposition's dying on it. I still think the Dems & Rep. (even those like the Green and Indep.) are slight illusions as best, but I guess over in Europe they don't give that illusion and most are ironically in one group anyway.
Being an American, there isn't really much of a way I can keep up w/ British poitics like someone actually living there, but man, politics in general...such a draining subject. Anybody here in America already knows the tight ropes being walked, and now the media (always one to destroy optimism ;) is saying some states won't recover from the recessions until 2015 or later. That's ridiculous. I'm wondering when the world itself will fully recover from it, b/c the fuse is getting shorter.
I think of the war on your end like this; UK" You did WHAT to my sister?!" Iraq, "yeah, what are YOU going to do about it?" UK, " FAAAAALCON PUUUUUUUNCH!!"
I don't know much about British politics but be careful of correlation without causation. Be sure not to oversimplify and ignore other factors that partially caused the current economic state. I can't imagine it being accurate to attributed everything to that one party.
Alright to extend more, being in Glasgow, my grandad was a diehard labour loyalist, because they gave him a job, and as i said earlier, this area is full of older people, i believe most of the people here thank labour for giving them work in the past, but they are holding onto them for all their worth, even if they are not being the most beneficial. That is my take on it from only a handful of elderly views so i could be quite wrong but i believe its a good idea as to why.
Living IN Glasgow..north..east area, I can only apologise for the lack of ..well..good people heh, I could probabley say its the most curtain shaking people in the counry, but watch the news?...The closest they get is the Metro.
So all I can say is sorry for the behaviour up here but these are people who think there is nothing outside their street heh :P And its full of REALLY OLD PEOPLE.
Strange how the conservative party is the better option there, while the conservatives over here in the US were who screwed the country. Your take on the re-election of the standing party is exactly, almost word-for-word actually, what I said in '04 when Bush was re-elected.
Sounds like we share political views Lliam, although I honestly vote Liberal over here, and it almost sounds as though that equates to voting for the bad folks over there. Maybe I'm confused? :)
As much as the word conservative scares me I'm pretty sure it's just my American ingraining of the word, and that it's fairly different outside of the states.
here's what so bad about politicians.some idiot is retireing, and he's asking(and recieved)a 800'000 pound sum for his retirement.THATS our cause of the economy.the people looking after our country, are the ones covering their own backs before our countries....
I don't really see things going well even though people keep saying everything will fix itself.

it's a double paradigm , two choices thats all we got
jmm1233 2 years ago
You mean in America or in Britian. B/c in the former's case sometimes I feel the choice is but an illusion...
johnnyraybosko 2 years ago
you're right it is an illusion of choice , all parties follow the status quo line ,
