  • Fire up the Renown...

  • RENOWNS TO ME!

  • I do feel sorry for Buckland, but I cant help but dislike him...he just annoys me horribly.

  • Don Ramon kicked English ass!

  • Sir?

    ...

    SSIIRR?!?!

  • It is this episode that Pellew directly and candidly reveals his true feelings toward Hornblower and he never does again directly.

  • Has anyone else noticed the seemingly unlimited amount of marines available to die?

    Love Hornblower through.

  • @sculli722 Ya, I noticed that aswell.

  • "We want burning ships, not a boiling sea!" Lol, priceless.

  • Just imagine what one sub-machine gun could have meant to the outcome of this fight! :-)

  • its cute how pellew tries to subtly defend horatio.

  • don't worry he does not

  • don't worry he does'nt

  • Can anyone please tell me whether Capt/Cdre/Adm Pellew dies or gets killed in one of the following episodes? Because if he does, I won't watch it. I think I could put up with the absence of many a character in this series, but I dread to think that I couldn't any longer see this intense expression of concern for H on his face and in his countenance. What a dear man.

And what a great actor, Robert Lindsay. A thousand cheers for him!

  • @annatique No. Pellew was a real man and he lived until a ripe old age and had a very impressive career.

  • @pugilistofpower Yes! I've known that for some time already - and been happy since then ;-)

  • I like how the marines apparently continue to respawn no matter how many of them die.

  • the elite class always had somthing to say to the lower class just to be always more diffrent.the day the elite agreed with the lower class was or is when elite will be abolished and we r all middle class

  • "I believe they call it the co-efficient of expansion sir." "Well, I call it bloody dangerous." Priceless!

  • I just have to.... For all you who remember... Great show and "Freedom for Tooting"

  • @Doodaddaman That's what marines are for. :D

  • Bowling for dagos.

  • Here we have Admiral Hammond, all too eager to condemn Hornblower and thus by definition quite unsympathetic a fellow. How conveniently he turns out later to be an antagonist -apologies for the spoiler-, wrapping up everything in a neat little package.

Also note how acting Captain Buckland is as well quite eager to introduce himself as full Captain Buckland, conveniently omitting the 'acting' part.

  • @tyrannusBE "I take it the fort is ours?"

    Naw, y'think, Buckland?!

  • @tyrannusBE At least until the Spanish colonel's wife forces him to admit he's only the first lieutenant. Oops, wrong part, I think. Sorry.

  • @tyrannusBE He's Captain Hammond (technically Post-Captain). Buckland would still hold the rank of Lieutenant but as the senior ergo commanding officer of a vessel is entitled to be called Captain until such time a confirmed promotion which in the days of sail could be months.

  • A hit! a very palpable hit!

(that was one of my lines in shakespeare)

  • Starts in 1793 which is 18th century. This however is in the beginning of the 19th century.

  • buckland is such a vicious little noob

  • The story of one man's never ending quest to do his doody.

  • fUCK cAPTIAN hAMMOND

  • Captain Pelew and Hornblower should get a room.

  • Shutup. Can't people just admire the nobility of these characters and believe in loyalty and decent affection without making a perverted case out of it?

  • @laughandhope88 No. Do you expect them to?

  • @williamskidfears I suppose I expect too much.

  • @laughandhope88 Yes. Not being mean or nothing, but, yes. After all, in this day and age, loyalty and decent affection are either for sale to the highest bidder, or join an honest day's labor as yet another expletive of the 21st century.

  • @laughandhope88 yeah! Why do peeps make it soo bleeping perverted? even on fanfiction bloody oath! Slashing Horatio and archie or Bush and horatio and even involving poor Wellard. OHMGEE!! WELLARD IS TOO YOUNG TO BE IN A SLASH!!! NOT EVEN THE CHARACTERS!!! these slash things piss me off!!!

  • @Cynderdragoness13 well then dont watch it then if you dont like it. we how like dont say shit like that!

  • @laughandhope88 Bravo!....true the way they talked and interracted (even on personal level) is sometimes quaint or outdated to some 21st Century minds ,however, they were VERY sincere it wasn't putting on.. thats how people were back then ..personally i'd trade in much of todays technology and progressivness (in some areas) for just some of those old social graces and manners

  • @vardiss22 Yes, indeed, the old grace and manners where you were considered inferior if you weren't part of the aristocratic class...

  • @laughandhope88

I don't know what the hell you're talking about, but I don't see how talking about romantic relationships between men is any more "perverted" than talking about relationships between men and women. Perhaps you should examine yourself before jumping on others.

  • In the book they capture the fort with only 6 casualties... I think they make it too complicated here.

  • @OnkelMickwald It's television, have to increase the body count to keep the viewers interested.

  • ... and a splendid time was had by all

  • The captain's my favourite. So freaking hilarious... Go! Sawyer!

  • @chopinandliszt Definitely kudos to David Warner.

  • This chapter is filmed in the Fortress of La Mola in the Port of Mahon, Menorca

  • 3:34 I don't think men of the Navy should pout really ;D

  • Oh, but he has such a sexy pout.

  • ..... Oh no one was denying that! Perish the thought ;3

  • Shhhh, it's a secret! xD

  • and there never seems to be any less of them

  • they are skilled like that

  • Its cause we are just too cool...

  • 01:49:SIR!!

    Love those guys!!

  • OMG even when Mr. Bush's voice breaks its sexy *drool* much

  • "Renown's to me!" Great line!

    Closely followed by

    "Marines-present.....Now will you surrender??"

and then finally-the best quote I think

"I believe they call it the co-efficient of expansion, sir....Personally, I call it bloody dangerous!" Classic!

  • yep i agree also '' okay fellows no time for soul searching''

  • what is the advantage of a hot shot?

  • Hotshot is a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hot, metal cannonball, that's been baked on coals. Fire that into a ship made of wood, and it'll start a fire. Enough hotshot will set a ship aflame and sink it.

  • ok thanks

  • @Shangas I don't think its called "hotshot" but hot shot or regular shot that has been heated.

  • @pwkid "Hot shot", then.

  • love mr. bush

  • Hornblower is 18th century's Mac Gyver

  • this particular series actually takes place in the beginning of 19th century.

  • I ask myself why you felt bound to say it... I really do.

Anyway, he was born in the 18th century, wasn't he? And this make us both happy.

  • 1802. I correctly said it takes place during 19th century, why am I getting a thumbdown for this?

  • @chopinandliszt because people need to go back to school. I encourage anyone to at least google 'dates 19th century.' They will swiftly find out that those dates are 1801-1900.

  • someone needs to go back to school..
