Can anyone please tell me whether Capt/Cdre/Adm Pellew dies or gets killed in one of the following episodes? Because if he does, I won't watch it. I think I could put up with the absence of many a character in this series, but I dread to think that I couldn't any longer see this intense expression of concern for H on his face and in his countenance. What a dear man.
And what a great actor, Robert Lindsay. A thousand cheers for him!
the elite class always had somthing to say to the lower class just to be always more diffrent.the day the elite agreed with the lower class was or is when elite will be abolished and we r all middle class
Here we have Admiral Hammond, all too eager to condemn Hornblower and thus by definition quite unsympathetic a fellow. How conveniently he turns out later to be an antagonist -apologies for the spoiler-, wrapping up everything in a neat little package.
Also note how acting Captain Buckland is as well quite eager to introduce himself as full Captain Buckland, conveniently omitting the 'acting' part.
@tyrannusBE He's Captain Hammond (technically Post-Captain). Buckland would still hold the rank of Lieutenant but as the senior ergo commanding officer of a vessel is entitled to be called Captain until such time a confirmed promotion which in the days of sail could be months.
Shutup. Can't people just admire the nobility of these characters and believe in loyalty and decent affection without making a perverted case out of it?
@laughandhope88 Yes. Not being mean or nothing, but, yes. After all, in this day and age, loyalty and decent affection are either for sale to the highest bidder, or join an honest day's labor as yet another expletive of the 21st century.
@laughandhope88 yeah! Why do peeps make it soo bleeping perverted? even on fanfiction bloody oath! Slashing Horatio and archie or Bush and horatio and even involving poor Wellard. OHMGEE!! WELLARD IS TOO YOUNG TO BE IN A SLASH!!! NOT EVEN THE CHARACTERS!!! these slash things piss me off!!!
@Cynderdragoness13 How is homosexuality "perverted"? Anyways, what is it to you if other people are slashing characters together? Let people enjoy what they want. There are different reasons why everyone watches this show.
(Wellard is too young to be slashed? Why in bleeding hell is he in the Royal Navy then? Yes, I know there were children but he looks about seventeen or so to me.)
@laughandhope88 Bravo!....true the way they talked and interracted (even on personal level) is sometimes quaint or outdated to some 21st Century minds ,however, they were VERY sincere it wasn't putting on.. thats how people were back then ..personally i'd trade in much of todays technology and progressivness (in some areas) for just some of those old social graces and manners
I don't know what the hell you're talking about, but I don't see how talking about romantic relationships between men is any more "perverted" than talking about relationships between men and women. Perhaps you should examine yourself before jumping on others.
Hotshot is a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hot, metal cannonball, that's been baked on coals. Fire that into a ship made of wood, and it'll start a fire. Enough hotshot will set a ship aflame and sink it.
@chopinandliszt because people need to go back to school. I encourage anyone to at least google 'dates 19th century.' They will swiftly find out that those dates are 1801-1900.

It is this episode that Pellew directly and candidly reveals his true feelings toward Hornblower and he never does again directly.

@annatique No. Pellew was a real man and he lived until a ripe old age and had a very impressive career.
