My "TAZ" was super loyal. He was an orange manx, with quite the personality. I was living in the Upper Penninsula (MI) when one night I heard terrible screams outside and found my manx yelling at a wild manx under my car. Someone deliberately killed my cat of ten years, and I've never gotten over missing him. Would love to get another pet Manx someday.
When I graduated eight grade, my Dad asked me what I wanted as a gift. I didn't know and told him I'd think about it. About a week after graduation my family and me were at a Mall where they had a pet store. In the cat cage there were two Manx kittens, one orange and the other grey among the many other kittens including Siamese. The orange Manx was the ruler of the group by far. I said to my Dad "I want tnat cat". He ruled the neighborhood just like the cage for 14 years. Morris i STILL MISS YOU
@tamara2622 Manx cats are bread with other cats because what gives them the little nub tails also cause many spinal problems later in life. Breeding them with other cats helps Manx cats live longer happier lives.
It's true what you say - the lack of a tail is responsible for lots of stomach problems, arthritis, walking problems, neurological problems and many other things. My manx has had lots of problems ever since she was really young. But she's the best pet I've ever had hands down. She's a gift from God to me
@tamara2622 Pure-bred Manx cats can have any length of tail - from a full tail to nothing at all. It's a genetic mutation that shortens the tail. So the length depends on how much the mutation penetrates. If cats have 2 full copies of the mutation, they often die before they're born or shortly after.
don't buy kittens from pet stores- adopt from a shelter!! shelters and rescues have almost every breed of cat you can think of, and pet store kittens come from cruel kitten mills where they mass-breed cats in tiny cages. buying kittens from pet stores is not "rescuing" them since it means they will only increase the demand for kitten mill kittens and be replaced by more.
I have 1 black long furr manx kitten she's 1 month old now born on june 28 2010.
Their very easy to litter train but the only problem with her is that she isn't very easy on being careful with humans. Please help on obedience training instead of just like spraying water because it just makes them scared of water...... Something else than standing still or saying no...... Thx
We used to have a manx cat. a friend of ours found him in a bush at a local school and was very sick and we nursed him back to health. he was all white and had such a strange personality and was an avid hunter, we kept find half eaten birds and squirrels...
I've known my manx cat, Bailey since the day of his birth last summer. My neighbours found a stray with no tail, she had kittens, those kittens had no tails. And one of those kittens had a litter of her own when she grew up, all but one of her kittens had no tails, and that's where I got my cat from. It's a breed, like how there used to be cats with flopped over ears in China.
my baby kitten has a stump, and although it too looks like it was choped off it wasn't, she was born like that. the tails for manx varies-some who have none at all up to several inches which are called or known as stubs, or stubbys. but i wouldn't doubt if someone would harm an animal to make soeone think it was a differnet breed
@jenhrocks Hi there. It sure is!! We have a part Manx that's 3 now, and he growls when people arrive, used to play fetch with balls of paper (that was fun), and he's been taught to sit on command. Oh, he stalks me too, will freeze when you look at him, the move when you look away. You are very lucky, they really are a superb and very fun cat - enjoy!!
actaully it depends-some may say that but really each cat has its own personality. Mine is more laid back although at night she does become playful-but still more calm then other cats.
it depends on the person really- my husband doesn't like cats like persians with smushed faces but like them0but any animal i have i grow attached to despite how it looks!
I have one JUST like the black one. She's a tad bit more fluffy, and different coloration, but still black and white. I just LOVE her. Found her on the streets as a kitten. Took her home, took care of her sickness, and now she's a happy, three-four year old cat. They tend to stay pretty small compared to most cats, though!
I have 2 manx cats, and I agree with all the comments that they are so loyal and loving. The ones in this video are so cute, but I have to admit I like Riser's or Rumpy's better then Stumpy's.
If you like Manx kittens check out my videos as well.
Ive had six manx throught out the years and I still have 3 left I just got a little orange and white one and he is the funniest thing I have ever seen. They are awesome cats and there good tree climbers too. My oldest one climbs up a tree and gets on the roof and jumps off for fun. Shes 10 years old and fearless.
I have a Cymric Manx rumpy riser and I have to agree with ZayceM, most loyal, loving, sweetest cat that's ever owned me! Follows me to every room I go to and snuggles alot!
Having had many different cats over the years, I have to say that Manx are the most well-mannered, loving, and (surprisingly) loyal breed I've ever owned.

yea but it's different if you throw some water to them, they are afraid of being wet, not of drinking the water!
