why is it very important? U get more respect when talking catalan? When Im in Barcelona, people a lot of times talk spanish.

catalan is the official language in Catalonia, children learn Catalan first then "Spanish". They just talk to you in Spanish, because they know you're a foreigner, dunno. When I'm in a Catalonian-speaking region people always talk first in Catalonian...

@waterpistool Yes but this is 'cause catalan is being lost. Lots of Spanish people invaded us on the 70s and now they are predating our language, cause spanish is a strongest language. So we must protect catalan, and if you go to study to catalonia, you should / MUST learn catalan. Thanks!
