He was stabbed and left to die on the street. Throughout the day, tens of people walked past him like nothing happened. Finally, hours later, someone called emergency services. Well, NYC has a population of over 8 million people. 11,761 officers (rough approximation) are on duty at one time patrolling 5 boroughs. That leaves 680+ people per officer. Sorry that the police couldn't keep everyone safe.
As for your other comment. I agree, its our instinct to protect ourselves. The problem though, is that not everyone can protect themselves. Thus, they need to rely on other people. When other people don't help (as seen in the video), they're screwed.
And if someone would have stopped being a lazy idiot and punched 3 numbers into their cellphone, the police and medical services would have been aware of what happened and could have saved the guy's life. The average cop in an urban area cuffs and hauls in one person per day of duty and has to fill out the appropriate paperwork. On top of that, if an officer isn't on-scene there usually isn't enough evidence to get a conviction. Hmmm, I dunno. I see too many cases where the police are completely out of control! I'd run in those situations! I'd probably also arm myself against them too. On the other hand these are just the kinds of people who don't run because they haven't done anything wrong - and the all the criminals are the ones who try to run. Seems backwards to me. So backwards that I don't think making mandatory jail-time for runners is a very good idea.

Well, NYC has a population of over 8 million people. 11,761 officers (rough approximation) are on duty at one time patrolling 5 boroughs. That leaves 680+ people per officer. Sorry that the police couldn't keep everyone safe.
As for your other comment. I agree, its our instinct to protect ourselves. The problem though, is that not everyone can protect themselves. Thus, they need to rely on other people. When other people don't help (as seen in the video), they're screwed.

I think Police should recognize their authority is limited and they work for US not vice versa. They waste trillions of dollars driving around doing nothing all day and if a crime is commited they dont do shit, they write a report then it sits in a file cabinet and rotts if it isnt closed and thrown out within days. The average cop in an urban area cuffs and hauls in one person per day of duty and has to fill out the appropriate paperwork. On top of that, if an officer isn't on-scene there usually isn't enough evidence to get a conviction. Don't expect a Cop to act all flowers and sunshine as they have to show that they are the authority and should be respected. Oh, and a cop won't shoot you and take your money.

the cost of living in my state is some of the cheapest in the nation therefore the departments pay less. and before you start questioning what u think i think i know. several of my best friends are officers in the city for which i live and i know for a fact that one has a difficult time feeding himself, his wife and his three kids, because most departments out here pay their officers next to nothing. average out here is roughly 30,000 starting. and with the current economy there are no raises.

@420991 I cannot enumerate the amount of plain clothes civilian families I've seen driving around in their work (patrol) cars. It is such a shame the proletarians of today have to pay for these piggies' ride. But in a country with a mirage of order, what can you expect?

The cops should be charged for what they did after the car stop. The god dammed state should make sure those people that flee cop in a car like that should be doing mandatory life. Unless they need to save a human life. Any prosecutor that makes a deal for less needs three state appellate judges ok.

Anthony Warren got 20 years for his crimes. The five police officers got what they deserved. I liked the ending of the story - justice prevailed. What is next? You will do some homework before making videos. No, that will not happen.

In fact, the suspect was so out of it during the beatdown, which was caught on a police car videotape, that he only learned about it during his trial after the DA requested a copy of the tape to play for the jury. Anthony Warren was convicted of assault against the officers involved in the chase and sentenced to 20 years in prison. lol

I don't think you watched that whole tape. The guy got thrown out the window as the car flipped 3 times. he was totally knocked unconscious and the 4 cope came over and started beating him with their sticks and kicking and punching the guy for all anyone knew could have been dead. I know you shouldn't run from a cop but they can't go overboard like that. There are plenty of people needing jobs that won't brutalize us.
