I was very privileged to do a training session with Marco when he came to Nottingham in the mid 1990s. He has an awsome presence and is a true Gladiator to say the least.
@ST8URCASE I have this UFC on VHS, im going to post it soon. To anwser your question he gave up. He was mounted and didnt want to get hit. lol That night he was beating people smaller then him and with no ground fighting. So when he faced Ruas he was alreading shiting in his pants.lol
@ST8URCASE I think with the not wanting to get hit in the face technique lol Once Marco ruas mounted him, the other dudes like fuck this I'm not getting my face punched in lol
tell your friends do not ignore this please----------------> I am doing a contest for my county schools and i was just wondering if you can view my firework cover by katy perry. you can post good or bad comments. Thank you!!!!
Ummm at the end it says "UFC Legend" Excuse me but anyone who knows anything about UFC knows that Royce Gracie is the UFC Legend and always will be. He started it all!
@bloodyxshirtxstainer there can be more than one legend dude, and those two, gracie and ruas, are two of them. severns a legend, the shamrocks are legends, couture, liddell, a silva, and coleman are all legends. what he means by the ufc legend is that he was the first striker/ grappler instead of just one or the other.
no doubt Ruas chose his opponents carefuly. however he HAD to, he was in his mid to late thirties when won UFC 7. still he was a great martial artist, very unique fighter. could chop people down like he did with Varlins or take you down in seconds like he did with Pat Smith.
I remember this UFC. The karate guy gave up because he didn't know how to defend from being mounted. That's why he gave up so fast. Ruas won the whole thing. In the last fight, the big guy had him in a guillotine in the air. It looked like professional wrestling. Then Ruas kicked and kicked until the end. The guy's leg was black and blue.
Id have to say Jujitsu was great as a art used for battle.Yes it required physical strength in some moves, and people always say its not as good because that, BUT the only people using it were Samurai, soldiers, strong people. Jujitsu has dirty strikes, grappling with knives, chains, finger locks.BJJ is better in the ring with rules and half naked people. But Jujitsu is better for what it was made for, usually both people have a weapon, and clothes,or armor.None is better, cause they used different
it doesnt required physical strength as far as i believe. hav u seen rtoyce gracie goin wid kimo, akebono, adn other bigger than him? how about nogueira goin wid bob sapp? and how about ikuhisa minowa on super hulk battle?
Original Jujitsu has many techniques and throws that require your physical strength as opposed to the 99% technique based BJJ. Though original Jujitsu is about technique over strength as far as ALL styles. But put next to the modified ring version BJJ, it requires more strength, but its also alot better outside the ring in my opinion.
That was a beautifully worded statement, if I do say so myself. Although, I would like it if you corrected me on to what it is that I said was incorrect =) I can see you have an extreme knowledge in Jujitsu and its insides and outs. Please tell me the truth about it, seeing as I am SO wrong. I'd also like to know why im suddenly poor and get food stamps xD
so let me get this right,...the guy who made this video is Marco Ruas father?? but Ruas was born already,...I mean living,...but it s his unborn child? I like Tupac,...BUT THIS SONG SUCKS DONKEYDICK
This brings back memories of a time when I was frustrated because work stopped me from practicing jiu-jitsu. Now I have a good job that lets me train whenever... and I never even go to the dojo. Ironic, huh?
Thank you Pafuncio... I was one of early vale tudo fans and my favorite fighter 10 yeaers ago was Marco Ruas, I think he had class and he was a winner. he was the prototype of the fighters of today...
brazil has many2 talented fighters, no doubt about it. say wanderlei, thiago, anderson silva, pedro rizzo, gracie family, vitor belfort.. n most of em have almost undefeated records in MMA. but the real undefeated ones is still remains fedor. n i say he,s the BEST in the world
@LordDeathspit nah amercian wrestlers still get pwned by 75% of bjj guys (viva brazil) you can't win a fight by just humping a guy for 3 rounds without punching like that who does that? Look what Anderson silva did to Chael Sonnen and he was on sterioud enough said..
@Pafuncio1983 I'm american, but I have to admit that Brazil has the highest percentage of the population that could kick your ass of any country. So many big powerful athletic guys think they can fight. If you can't fight in the clinch and on the ground , and don't know submissions or sprawling techniques, you would find out real quick that you're not nearly as tough as you think. It's nice to be big and strong, but it takes more than that to be good fighter. Brazil showed the world that.
