  • They need to make more like this nowadays

  • It's so great to see this again. I've not seen it since it was broadcast.

  • Now I know where charlie brooker gets his ideas.

  • @toweronepower And he knows it. There was this exchange on a Screenwipe Xmas special:

    Brooker: Who's Victor Lewis-Smith?

Faceless 'TV insider': He's a rich man's you.

  • I liked I.T.V. better when we had H.T.V., Tyne-Tees, Grampian, Southern etc., but this is very funny indeed! V L-S. is a genius!

  • Absolutely brilliant! Makes me laugh out loud every time I see it!

  • I laughed the first time at the Westward bit.

  • Ads infinitum - if you've got it,post it, pleasepleaseplease!

  • i second this!

  • Why the hell did they take them down in the first place? That's what I want to know.

  • There's still one episode.

  • Rad-ee-ot-im-ez...

  • I remember Southern, apart from "How" and "Runaround" it was rubbish!

  • But the Harlech logo/ident can make yours or anyones eyeballs sore, lol. :-p

  • Watching HTV and ITV1 Wales used to make my brain sore!

BBC Wales isn't that good either.

  • Ironic that Victor Lewis Smith used the old Rediffusion(clip 2:55) logo/indent for his production company today.

  • V L-S is the scource of so much modern comedy.

i remember listening to him in the early 90's and laughing until i hurt in the face.

  • I have about half of TV Hell on an old VHS tape, recorded from the original broadcast. It's got stuff like worst ever Eurovision song contest entries, 'Rock Bottom' (worst of Top of the Pops, presented by John Peel), worst TV moments ever, failed programme pilots and other Victor Lewis-Smith material. I'll need to see if I can transfer it across because the stuff in it is too funny not to!

  • he's also got a compilation called nuisance calls which you can get from itunes. anyone who remembers his early shows from radio 1 will agree that this is well worth a purchase. unfortunately it doesn't include dr dreyfuss britains only one fingered jewish gynaecologist which is a shame.

  • At last! Someone else who remembers his Radio 1 show. I recall the gynaecologist doing filthy things with keyholes and wondering how if the beeb knew what they were broadcasting. I bought the "tested on humans for irritancy" CD, any suggestions how to obtain the Radio series?

  • i had some of them on cassette but i'm buggered if i know where they are now (actually anyone remember what a cassette tape looks like)

  • I've got a copy of the privately-released cassette if anyone would like to buy it! Very hard to find (except on iTunes), and nearly everyone in it is dead now. Anyway, I don't think that clip fully appreciated the power of TV idents.

  • Or the episode where he phone the production office for That's Life, pretending he was a trumpet-playing quadraplegic. Priceless.

  • Jolly good! Cheers, luv!

  • Funny stuff. VLS's short programmes are much better than his half-hour efforts IMHO.

  • OMG!!! I remember when I saw this clip on that TV nostalgia site, Java-TV. It's long dead now. I thought I'd nevewr see this again!

  • Glad to be of service! I picked it up from uknova.

  • I'm still trying to join up there, but I rather hate their stupid user limit that's preventing me from getting that good stuff.

  • @davidmcn is there any TV offal on there?

  • @hooker1uk they are on somewhere
