Great Recipe!! I grew up around Dearborn MI and love Shish Tawook. Some restaurants had the option of a Lemon Oregano sauce over top the chicken. I can't find the recipe anywhere. I was hoping you may be able to shed some light. Thanks so much!!
@escape5693 very easy, just use my cheese roll recipe but instead of using the egg roll dough, use my easy dough recipe to make the dough and shape them into triangles ;)
First I have to say TY!!! you are a great teacher<3 , second I have a question for you, a little background first back in 1981 I had a friend from UAE that I went to college with, each weekend we would go to each others home for Sunday dinner one Sunday he made this dish called in English Upside down chicken I LOVED IT !!! do you know this recipe would love to make this recipe in honor of an ole' friend
@sisofthemoon65 Hmmm, English upside down cake sounds interesting. Can you describe the cake a little more, flavors? there are so many different upside down cakes around.
regarding the tomato paste , in the video @ 3:10 you say half tea-spoon but in your website it says 1/2 tbs (table-spoon) . Which one is correct amount ? Btw, do you cook chicken souvlaki by any chance ? If you do then it would be great if you put that in ur website . Thanx.
@burninbabe all of the serving suggestions should be on my site, this is one of the older ones so I guess I forgot to add it, this recipe serves 2-4 people...depending on how much they like it :)

open pita bread & spread toum all over the inside, then place the chicken shish tawook inside, sprinkle a little bit of mujaddara, & then top off with a big spoon of tabouli... last but not least wrap & enjoy!
Hi I want to try this recipe, just wondering will I taste the ketchup when it is done? I don't like ketchup that is why I asked. Also can you show us how to make the salad with the pita in it and also the rice with the little noodles in it..lol? Thanks. Love you recipes.
Thank you Dede. Men do flip over you (LOL) but you are beautiful and a wonderful cook. I wrote your recipes and anxious to make them! I can never get enough of M.E. food! Oy.
Hi...I have a question-I used to have some friends who were mediterranian and one lady she cooked some rice which had chunks of tomatoes and potatoes and I think fresh parsley in it as well, does that sound like anything you know of?? Id really like to know how its made it was delicious!
you know so glass like chopping boards? well if you have one of them do you STILL have to use two separate boards for meat and veg. its glass? it should wash off properly?
It would help if you put the recipe ingredients in the description. I am just looking for a recipe - don't really want to filter through the video for them.
I made this today, substituted tomato paste with medium salsa and use organic plain yogurt and paired it with your Med. Brown rice recipe and steamed Asparagus in a butter and basil sauce. My husband loved it! He literally said it was the best meal of his life. Thanks!
i use the same everything (knife, cutting board, etc.) to get the intense feeling an hour or so after i eat it, the abdominal pain is how you know what you made was a master piece. Whala! xD
Greek/Mediterranean yogurt is a bit more sour and thicker than regular yogurt but if you can't find Greek/Mediterranean yogurt then regular yogurt will work fine.
Mashallah....I tried it and it was very good...I am always looking for good recipes...some people make yucky recipes..hehehe....this was very tasty and me and my husband loved it.Thanks
Are the ingredients hard to find? I'm not that good of a cook myself. I hate cooking because I always hate the ingredient part. My seasoning would be simple. Salt and pepper. But I hate it. It taste too plain.
Hi Dede, i used eat shish tawook sandwichs at school, it used to come with an amazing garlic sauce, i cant find that sauce so can u tell me an easy way to make it, thank you...
THank you for the comment. The chicken will be cooked perfect after 10 minutes, you can try it after 10 minutes and see if you like it, if not you can cook it a little longer.
I'm Egyptian and I LOVE shish tawook. I love how you make videos!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I don't need to go sweet on my aunts to show me how!! haha

I was watching your vid when my son came to the room i was in and ask me ... is she married? LOL.. i told him yes.. This is very good recipe.. you never make any thing seem harder than it is,,,your demos are wonderful! best wishes Shelly
Thank you for the comment. A nice menu would be to make, shish tawook, hummus, garlic, tabouli, and batata harra. You can also add the brown rice to the menu. THis would make a nice full course meal with your protein, carbs and veggies :)
I love your videos! I'm greek and we have a lot of the same kinds of dishes! I'm going to try this chicken recipe for my family! I'm sure we'll love it!
Dede, I'm planning to make this recipe plus the Batata Harra nxt wk (with other recipes), but don't know what dip/sauces to include. Will the tahini sauce work? Any suggestions?
You can make the tahini sauce, it is on my falafel video, it's really easy. Or you can make a white sauce or a gravy. If you use tahini sauce, garnish it with fresh parsley, it will look beautiful :)
Thank you so much for these recipes dedemed! My girlfriend and I also live in Montreal, and love Amir and shish taouk in general. Ive been looking for a recipe for it and the garlic sauce now for a while. We tried it tonight, and it didnt turn out as thick as it should be.. it was a little thinner than ceasar salad dressing. (We dont have a proper blender. Only a manual one that we have to turn ourselves.)
Very tasty had a nice kick of lemon juice. All the tastes of the Med.
