@Joeey Dude, "music OF sting" isn't music BY sting.
It means the score belongs to him but the choice of instrument (in this case flamenco nylon acoustic guitar) and the way it's being played and WHO plays it is certainly NOT sting at all...
@warhols25 The world has much music. What is this term "world music?" Is that like "world art" or "world computing" or "world food?" What do you mean? I've never been to any place in the world that plays this music Sting is doing on this track. It seems a mix of fern-bar jazz, synthesizer violins and cello, and a flameco guitar. Oh and add an Irish jig. It is a weird combination, but not especially musical. This is NWO elevator music with extremely trite lyrics.
@Joeey Denying the existence of "world music" as a distinct genre, You shoot Yourself in the foot, like You were saying that the Earth is flat and the Sun revolves around the Earth. Let us be serious.
@warhols25 Yes, let's be serious. I think it is pretty serious when you are staring down your nose at someone thinking you determine what is the world, when you really mean making a charm bracelet out of countries outside of your own. Do you think in Mali, they think of heavy metal as "world music?" This is a fabricated vacant from the west. It is cultural appropriation and colonizing. Oh, yes, very serious. You probably do not understand what I am saying but it is deadly serious, ask any Iraqi.
@warhols25 World music, you mean like when Paul Simon had big success using music from South Africa and Brazil? But when he kept on with it and used music from the Caribbean, his career crashed? Is that the "world music" you mean? At least Simon's efforts are, per song, recognizable to the culture he was pilfering. This song from Sting is just a trainwreck, a kluge. What izz this "world music?" So western of you. No real artist would be so culturally appropriating like the world is a salad bar.
@Joeey both of you does it really matter? i mean really shut the fuck up and just listen to the music forget your mind, clear your mind and i think you'll find it to be quite beautiful, its not about what culture its from its about how it sounds.. you both show you're prejudice by making this a cultural debate instead of just enjoying this the way sting probably wants you to enjoy it, by just listening to beauty...
I love the switch from the first part to the second. It was so smooth, you just don't see quality like that anymore. And the beginning is just superb. I love how the composer used a latin feel to the music, it really fit.
