  • How glad I am to have grown up in the 60's..what an era it was!!!

  • Memories, memories, memories.

  • it don't get any better than this.I remember practice with my band in the garage, this song was at it's peak..thank you for sharing it.

  • This takes me back! I had forgotten it. Lovely song. Thanks for uploading.

  • What a song. Just fantastic!

  • Love, love, love this song so much!!!!!!

  • Every time I hear this song I am reminded of driving to the beach in the summer. I wish I could've been alive in this era but I am only 22. -_-

  • @stevarino1989 We grew up in the wrong generation when it comes to music my friend!

  • @stevarino1989 - I was alive in this era and I wish I were only 22!

  • This brings back great memories from the 60's (first 'serious' girlfriend et al) - it was good to have been born in 1949

  • @wisbechflyer There was never, and will never be again, a musical era with such magic, soul, heart, and, yes, balls. Ten Years After's. "Good Morning, Little Schoolgirl" didn't follow this cut by too many years.

  • A classic in R&B and rock with lyrics you could sing too...good time music!

  • me and my friend played with jhon sabestion in 1983 at a bar in black mtn nc ,,he was just passing through town. the bar was the town pump.

  • A simple melody turned into perfection. Timeless, and their best.

  • Wasnt Jim Morrison and John Sebastian buddies ???

  • Yes...sweetie....

  • Dear coatlecue, Thank you so much for that informative help. It's very kind and helpful of you. Off to work now but will look into your words of wisdom on my return and yes, I won't quote you. Best wishes Neil

  • Was 13 when this came out. These were a lovely quiet peaceful group as opposed to many of the seemingly endless chain of brilliant talent around at this time. What a wonderful time, and such great treasured memories. This song and so many around that time certainly stand the test of time unlike today's crapola. The "bell" part of the tune sounds so classical. Does anyone know if it was derived from anywhere or was it just brilliant music?

  • @neil03152 as i understand it. this is a type of cylindrical bell.its set in a rack from the left longest lowest to the right smallest highest. about 2" and a 3rd. the tones are roughly around c'. i was a common part of most orchestras. now dont quote me here but i think its called a cymbaltin or something close to it. Not Cymbalta that over hyped psychoactive drug one see on US tv. they wanted to use it because one of the group thought it had a stately sound . it does---doug

  • Thank you for putting this song up!

  • wonderful!! love this song so much...all their stuff..and yes that was the age of real music!!!

  • everything about this song just makes me smile. the vocals, the instrumentation, the beat, the lyrics. plus, this song does not hurt my ears like many pop songs =] (when i mean hurt my ears, i mean the it's a song that is mastered very well)

  • @MusicBySav *not mastered well

  • I was born in 1964 and I remember all these songs! Wish I had a time machine!!!:) 60's and 70's music is the only music I listen to!!!

  • You know there was a lot of great rock n roll before the Britsh Invasion. I mean, where did The Beatles get their influence from? For me its 1956-early 70's as the golden years of pop/rock music, and I'm only 21

  • "Was '65-'75 the best decade of music, period?"

    Yes.

  • I love it, Great song!

  • @70smusicman Totally, man.

  • This is my favorite song of theirs. :)

  • @70smusicman I'd go '64 to '74, but close enough. You really can't leave out the Beatles, Ed Sullivan, and all that momentous change. God, it was great- most of it. A great time to grow up- or try!

  • only 68 people thumbed this up, oops i mean 69 including me LOL 69 my fav#, i was, am and always will be a rock and roll junkie. but i do love a wide variety of classics. to say 65to75 is the best decade for music???. i do agree to a point. but i would rather say the 60s and 70s are the best 2 decades ever for music. anyways ty for posting this happy happy song,PEACE,LOVE,and ROCK AND ROLL

  • @70smusicman In one word...YES!

  • @70smusicman Yes,it was the ABSOLUTE best decade of music in HUMAN HISTORY

  • great song to hear

  • i love this song!! classic!

  • Steely Dan, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd....All released exquisite albums in the early '70s. Do you even like music, Mushyman?

  • what a sweet, relaxing song :) one of my favorites by lovin' spoonful.

  • Nice....

  • I met them and got their autographs :D. They were MUCH older though; i barely recognize them in the picture although they do look firmiliar. ^^

  • I am stuck on this song and riff, cant get it out of my head (in my sleep) Its finally hitting me how good this group was, and how much more material there is than just summer in the city.

  • This group imploded too soon starting in 67 and it sucks!! 65 and 66 went by too fast but was their best charting years.

  • @70smusicman

urgh..no... i hated the early 70's! all that glam nonsense, pretencious prog rock and awful sweet soul... no thanks!

  • I miss this kind of good music we used to listen to. I am also going to miss that good old Michouacan.

  • It doesn't get any better than this. Growing up in the 60s spoiled me rotten. So much good music.

  • Many thanks for posting this!!!!!!

  • 1965-1967 was absolutely the defining years in pop music in the 60's.

This song certainly defines that era. I certainly wish I had been alive back then. I really missed some good music.

Thank you for uploading this gorgeous classic.

  • You get to enjoy all the 60's music, without having to be old now. Best of both worlds :)

  • Summer days being a teen, carefree perfect days listening to music like this. Where have they gone?

  • The song has such a sense of nostalgia about it. I absolutely love it. But what on earth is it about? People being too nice is hardly the problem in the world.

  • Listening to this song takes me back to being about a 13 year old, when life was sweet and simple.

  • This song is about as good as it gets

  • @seid54 - Absolutely.

  • @seid54 100% agreed.

  • A Great song and what a band.

  • Much Love For The 60s And This Song

    <33

  • Another Lovin Spoonful childhood favorite. The innocence of the day...ahh how I miss it.

  • smffeb58- Creeque Alley - the story of the San Fran Bands..ahhh best of times.

yomolin - young, huh? Great group, and Sebastian... a treasure!!!

  • "Sebastian and Zal formed the Spoonful, Michelle, John, and Denny gettin pretty tuneful" -- Creeque Alley (Mama;s and Papa's)

  • thanks for the tip. Nice song. just discovered this group today!

  • Put in

    &fmt=18

at the end of the url and hit reload. Beautiful full stereo sound.

  • Great song. Thanks for adding it.

  • One of the Spoonful's better efforts, for sure. Great harmonies. RIP Zal.

  • Quite possibly my favorite song of all time
