@wisbechflyer There was never, and will never be again, a musical era with such magic, soul, heart, and, yes, balls. Ten Years After's. "Good Morning, Little Schoolgirl" didn't follow this cut by too many years.
Dear coatlecue, Thank you so much for that informative help. It's very kind and helpful of you. Off to work now but will look into your words of wisdom on my return and yes, I won't quote you. Best wishes Neil
Was 13 when this came out. These were a lovely quiet peaceful group as opposed to many of the seemingly endless chain of brilliant talent around at this time. What a wonderful time, and such great treasured memories. This song and so many around that time certainly stand the test of time unlike today's crapola. The "bell" part of the tune sounds so classical. Does anyone know if it was derived from anywhere or was it just brilliant music?
@neil03152 as i understand it. this is a type of cylindrical bell.its set in a rack from the left longest lowest to the right smallest highest. about 2" and a 3rd. the tones are roughly around c'. i was a common part of most orchestras. now dont quote me here but i think its called a cymbaltin or something close to it. Not Cymbalta that over hyped psychoactive drug one see on US tv. they wanted to use it because one of the group thought it had a stately sound . it does---doug
everything about this song just makes me smile. the vocals, the instrumentation, the beat, the lyrics. plus, this song does not hurt my ears like many pop songs =] (when i mean hurt my ears, i mean the it's a song that is mastered very well)
You know there was a lot of great rock n roll before the Britsh Invasion. I mean, where did The Beatles get their influence from? For me its 1956-early 70's as the golden years of pop/rock music, and I'm only 21
@70smusicman I'd go '64 to '74, but close enough. You really can't leave out the Beatles, Ed Sullivan, and all that momentous change. God, it was great- most of it. A great time to grow up- or try!
only 68 people thumbed this up, oops i mean 69 including me LOL 69 my fav#, i was, am and always will be a rock and roll junkie. but i do love a wide variety of classics. to say 65to75 is the best decade for music???. i do agree to a point. but i would rather say the 60s and 70s are the best 2 decades ever for music. anyways ty for posting this happy happy song,PEACE,LOVE,and ROCK AND ROLL
I am stuck on this song and riff, cant get it out of my head (in my sleep) Its finally hitting me how good this group was, and how much more material there is than just summer in the city.
The song has such a sense of nostalgia about it. I absolutely love it. But what on earth is it about? People being too nice is hardly the problem in the world.
How glad I am to have grown up in the 60's..what an era it was!!!

1965-1967 was absolutely the defining years in pop music in the 60's.
This song certainly defines that era. I certainly wish I had been alive back then. I really missed some good music.
Thank you for uploading this gorgeous classic.
