This movie is based off the original Death Race made in 1975 featuring Salvester Stalone; the only difference is that they altered the participants of the new "Death Race" to convicts racing for their freedom instead of the original where random people just went around hitting other people, and get points for it depending on who they hit. (Ie: Hit a baby: 50 points, hit a child: 30 points, hit an adult: 20 points, etc. -- the Twisted Metal video game series has nothing on this movie.
