Bill Gates was a fun guy and so was the users but when Windows 7 came along Microsoft's fun and everyone else went down hill and he only have Apple left.
This was the day of Main Frame computers,pc's were just toys to the industry at the time.IBM was selling million dollar computers to Governments and big business. It would be another ten years before the pc started to get to a point where the the main frame computer started to decline.
bill gates and the maker of apple worked together to make dos then bill gates claimed it as his own then they went to court and bill gates lost but he still claimed dos as his own then the apple computer came along which was the start of the mouse and desktop and bill gates stole the idea and made windows, even though macs/apples are better people like windows more ;(
$50,000? SCP really blundered by selling. Hindsight is 20/20, but they could have gotten in on the pie if they LICENSED Q-DOS just like Microsoft did later on with MS-DOS. Pretty good business dealing for geeks like Allen and Gates.
I hope IBM died by antitrust. I hope Bill is never born. I hope Killdall meet Richard Stallman and Linus Torvalds. And they create the only true free operating system with ability for modification beyond possible. Not that ugly piece of winblows junk that exists today. I used milkosoft for 13 years and I use 100% only linux now. Even with lack of good opensource gfx drivers and games this system kicks microbutt anyday.
I can honestly say that Im a 14 year old girl, who loves music, loves to talk on the phone for hours, keep up to date in the latest trends, hang out with friends, do normal teenage girl things, but Im also in love with computer technolagy, and want to be a computer programer when Im older :) Dont judge a book by its cover people :)
@XXJanuaryBreezeXX Start by getting Linux. It's very programmer friendly and will broaden your experience with and understanding of computers very quickly. Ubuntu is a good start.

Bill Gates, with all the billions he will give away, will be responsible for saving more lives and helping more people on this planet then any one individual in the history of mankind.
Money may have 'ruined' Bill Gates the 'cool' dweeb, but it principally turned him into a great man.
Considering that he is the richest man in the world with a Cahrity worth 26billion and when he dies his will states his kids get a very small portion and the rest will go to charity, yes he is a great guy.
In Nigeria, the Gates foundation invests in the very same corporations that are poisoning the children they then fly in with medical aid for.
Sorry, that's not a "great" man, that's a man who is engaging in the same behaviour he has done since his university days when he created the very problems that he would magically show up and then fix for people.
I'm sure all of your investments (like your 401k) and other purchases only goto companies doing no harm to anyone throughout the world ;-)
I also hope the returns on these investments are going to help others ;-)
Any large non-profit invests its money. I think your criticism of the Gates Foundation is fair (although somewhat petty in the scheme of things), you would hope they could only invest in companies 'doing no harm', but I also think it's naive to think its always smart or possible.
Indeed, whatever investments I do make, now or in the future, I would certainly terminate if I found I had invested in something that was hurting anyone.
It perhaps might be petty but unfortunately the case I cited with the Gates foundations investments is not an isolated issue, this is part of a terrible pattern.

Nah, Gates has never been cool. He's the tard who threatened to sue Silicon Valley's famous Homebrew Computer Club hacking and using software that Bill himself copied from others. That was Microsoft BASIC. That was in the 1970's. Now in 2008 nothing much has changed, only the stage is bigger.
History tells us that had Gary Kildall sued, he would have won.
And this clip tells the truth, albeit with a soft touch: Microsoft didn't invent (or innovate) anything, they bought and exploited someone elses work, which is what Gates had done from the start.
Everybody did it, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's about knowing who needs what, and when. And if you can find that you, you deserve the rewards.
If nobody occasionally would have taken the big piece of the pie, we would probably still be messing with 50 closed, incompatible systems.
Get your facts straight. It was called Altair BASIC, not Microsoft BASIC. Bill Gates and Paul Allen *did* write it themselves, they didn't steal it. And he didn't threaten to sue anyone, he sent an open letter to a magazine. And he wrote it because computer clubs were copying programs he tried to sell by the hundreds to all their members.
Please tell me how this is diabolical? Company B asks company A whether they could buy off their product. Company A agrees. Company B makes a fortune with it several years later. Tough luck for company A! I don't think Microsoft execs could have predicted the enormous consequences this would have, but even if they did - nobody did anything evil there.
@iAbsolution Google Gary Kildall he invented the first OS Tim Paterson cloned and l stole it. Kildall is the true inventor of DOS which was called CM/P before Paterson got his hands on it cloned it changed C:\ with A:\ If you steal something it don't count
It's like you inventing the pencil, then I come along take your pencil invention and put an eraser on it then call the invention my own. That is not right in my book. Kildall invention was not open source!!

Why MS sold their OSs without finishing them?
